That might seem weird, but I've setup roleblocks on teammates deliberately when Mafia in order for people to completely discredit the idea that we could be teammates if tracked. It's a surprisingly effective tactic since most people automatically assume there is no point to it.
-
It didn't - all it did was prove you didn't kill that night. Either Jamba or Diageo did. You said that the only person you 100% trust is Diageo which seems odd compared to the other people left (character highlighting benefits either side and like you said, it was him who was RB on a no kill night). I'm assuming that there's two mafia left in the three of you, so it makes sense that one of you would be trying to backup another.
-
If it's a choice to lynch Jamba or Cube then I'm going with Cube. He might not have killed on N3 but his results seem to be mostly all stuff we already knew. Of course it would help if Jamba turned up to give us his targets. Vote: Cube

Yeah me too. I love the Vita, in terms of console hardware/value for money it's one of my favourites. Playing Disgaea 3 on Vita makes me realise that some games really are just perfect for it. I'm also looking to retire my fat PS3 sooner rather than later, and the Vita with its AMOLED screen is just slick. Can't wait.

I think there's 2 Mafia left out of Cube, Jamba and Diageo. Looking at Cube's targets the vast majority of that is known already except for N4, although Jamba could be backing him up. He was also roleblocked on a night when there was no kill. I'll wait until later before voting.

FFX soon...gonna be epic. FFIX was my first FF game, always a place for it in my heart.

General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Heh, yeah. It'd also be interesting if they could have a separate count to factor in 'total downloads' (including unpaid for). Like when tons of people get Resogun included in Plus. If that didn't count as sales then it'd look like Resogun didn't do as well as it really would have. -
It's fair to say that both have done pretty badly.

Statistical anomaly or nay, it's still a bigger contrast, which is what I was getting at before. Wii vs Wii U success relative to PSP vs Vita, which is why the comparison being made always feels a bit stretched. I know that the PSP has some successful stats associated with it (I think a lot of this was due to Japan), but it's never really felt successful. It never seemed to have a huge presence over here, with most awesome titles of that gen going to home console. I would agree that if you put the Wii aside, Nintendo's decline has been a gradual thing. They really need to shake things up.
-
How does that follow? I am saying that as Sony has never led the handheld market, the Vita not doing well doesn't really surprise/make them look as bad as it could. Sony have never been top dog here. Vita also followed on from the PSP in a similar way - high spec, more expensive, and almost a home console portable. This is what the PSP was like vs the DS, and we know which sold better. Nintendo have a long history in home consoles and had a massive hit with the Wii. They previously previously dominated the home console market, producing some of the most successful home consoles ever. So the Wii U is a much bigger fall from grace for them. I'm not saying Sony shouldn't aim to be top at whatever they do (they should), but do they actually think they will topple a company from the podium in a department that they have dominated for decades? Sure they did it with the PS1/PS2, but they made the Vita with a similar mindset to the PSP (high spec, home console like, etc). And the PSP never won, so... Also bear in mind that they also know they've lost Monster Hunter, one of their major draws, and Nintendo have been getting Dragon Quest games. Seriously, knowing all this, you think Sony actually believed the Vita would topple the 3DS? Obviously they hoped the Vita would do better than it has done, but how could they expect it to dominate when they know the 3DS has such ri-donculous software?
-
It sold a lot of units (especially in Japan) because it was a hot piece of technology, but yeah, it was niche. You only needed to walk into any game shop to get that. You're also cross comparing generations anyway - compared to the home consoles at the time, it was most certainly niche. Why would they think that? To think that, they would have to imagine that people would suddenly no longer enjoy Mario or Zelda titles, which would obviously never happen. Put it this way - you say Sony and Nintendo have a rivalry which means they would want to topple each other. But that doesn't mean they completely believe unrealistic things. Sony probably no more thought their PSP would make Nintendo leave the handheld market than Nintendo thought the Wii U would make Sony leave the home console market. Either expectation is just totally unrealistic. I'm not saying they wouldn't want it to do better (they do), but it's hardly a surprise and it doesn't really have the same shock as how the Wii U is doing. Sony have never had a handheld that has led the market.
-
Yeah they're important for Sony but no one would claim handhelds are their primary focus. When they first entered the handheld market, no matter what people thought would happen it's not like they themselves said they would knock Nintendo off their spot. They were aiming to offer something different - a high spec portable home console, in effect. It's not like 360 vs PS3 where both are directly competing with very similar products. It's a shame the Vita isn't doing better, but let's not compare that situation to the Wii U. Sony's handheld consoles have always been a bit of a niche. Whereas Nintendo have truly toppled in relation to what they used to be.

Hadn't realised the 3DS was comparatively so low... -
The world doesn't care that the Vita sells poorly when judging Sony. It's a home console world and if your home console is storming it then that's where the main focus lies. That may sound shallow, but that's just how it is. The home console is the platform to show off your best, highest budget games that are inevitably going to be more technically impressive than anything that you can put out on handhelds. Plus Vita and PSP have always been more of a side project for Sony. They have never led in handhelds and nobody expected them to. Even though the PSP did better, it's hardly what Sony are famous for.

Bioshock Infinite is immense. Enjoy it.
-
Sidelining it is essentially dropping it as it won't be properly supported. Good riddance though, really.
-
Yep, same. Waste of a night.
-
So who is the bloody terrorist? Did this affect everyone then?
-
That's where they went wrong. If you have confidence in your hardware, you know it will be widely adopted and sell software. For that reason they should do as others have been doing and sell at a small loss, knowing that you'll grab customers, generate profit through software and services, and generate profit as it becomes cheaper to produce. Also while next gen titles may have high launch RRPs but as has been shown with PS3/360, many games reduce in price a great deal after some months. Nintendo's often kinda stick.
-
I think £200 is when it starts to become 'real money', even £20 less can start to seem more attractive when we're talking these sorts of numbers. You've also got to bring it down closer to PS3/360 levels.
-
You've got to compare value. People can get a 360 or PS3 for £100, then the games are dirt cheap. A lot of people know the Wii U is on the same tech level, so can it really be justified to be twice the price? I also wonder if it will have a massive pull seeing as the casual crew have either given up or already have MK Wii, so might not see the need for a new one.
-
Then it's not really a price drop. Wii U has already been going at £199 for ages through various bundles, even with newly released games (e.g. Zelda Wind Waker). It's how I got mine.
-
I think £199 for a Wii U with MK8 is still a bit expensive. £179 will do more. You've got to remember that this is the console that few want.
-
Abilink is a feature they chose to put in, it's really not cheating. There are too many jobs to individually level for each character anyway.
-
Also won again on Friday...3 numbers so only £1.25. Still, nice to have...
