Hmm.......

Not defensive. Just correct. That's more like dramatic effect. It was pretty clearly orchestrated by Sansa in the run up to the battle and we all saw it. Deus ex machina is where something completely unexpected and contrived is roped in to bring an immediate conclusion to a problem...as there had been a heavy set up, I don't see how you can say it was unexpected or spontaneously devised. It brought an immediate end to the problem, but that is only part of the criteria to fulfill said phrase. And hey, if you really like, imagine scouts relayed the opportune moment to attack back to the forces. Given we know armies had scouts in ye olde times, that's no stretch of the imagination at all. Another way is to not interpret it so bluntly as to dismiss the entire plot. We all know the real reason they turned up at the last minute in the show is because it makes good TV. But that in itself is not the main point - in the grand scheme of things, they could have turned up earlier and that would have been enough. As long as you can believe Sansa got those forces to come at all, which I certainly can believe, then quite when they turned up and whether it was dramatic or not is not so important to me. Dramatic effect as I say; they want to make an epic battle rather than a less interesting one, but that doesn't mean they are inventing crazy plot devices to achieve it.

Sorry, had mega lag and not long to play...great games apart from the last!
-
Correct. It was clearly being put into place in the previous episodes so not unexpected...and therefore not Deus Ex Machina. It's a very believable plot device too - allies turning up to turn the tide.
-
Sorry I have no idea. I was just shit chatting. I'm sure you're good. We should play sometime.
-
I don't think he is. And to be honest, I'm inclined to agree.
-
Word. Deaf ears though unfortunately.

Definitely get Overwatch Cube. If you ever tried Team Fortress 2 and loved it you'll love this. It's oozing charm and suits every play style - e.g. if you just want to be a supporting character, you can.
-
Just generally there wasn't much to it. You could pretty much steamroll the game with one upgraded sign and it didn't feel fun to open the wheel mid combat. Occasionally there would be a wraith or some other kind of enemy and you would switch it up but not that often. Lack of level balancing meant a lot of battles and particularly the rewards were a bit pointless too.

Witcher does great story telling and world building. That said, the combat in Witcher and interactivity with the environment was lacking. I look forward to seeing the towns in Zelda as the characters and their individual lives in Majora's Mask were some of my very favourite things.

I recommend Oracle of Ages, great game. Collecting the rings is also much fun.

Only if you add rude and petulant to the way you speak to most people on here. Seriously...what gives? Why are you always moaning about perceived slights against Nintendo? I don't get why it seemingly means so much to you what people may or may not think about Nintendo.

Well good on you - I just think it's too expensive at the moment for me to jump on board, and they're still figuring out what works on it. The technology also feels like it has a way to go - particularly how the headset has a big wire going from it.
-
We're both right. Better to jump into VR the next revision I reckon.
-
Honestly man, I would hold off on the NX for at least 6 months post launch. After the Wii U I'm certainly not going to jump on board without knowing there was some serious support for it (not that I was an early Wii U adopter, but still). The Wii U was also heinously overpriced at launch too, so could happen again.
-
Yeah man, been saying this all along. The argument that it doesn't take you out of the action is the polar opposite to my experience with it. The only time this setup really works is Wind Waker HD since the boat sails itself, so you can keep going while looking at the maps in the meantime.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Wii U / Switch

Game sounds very cool. I won't watch anything, just wait for it. This sounds like a great step towards shaking up mechanics as I felt Zelda definitely needed one. -
Right...and where did you hear that? Microsoft have just promised that the Scorpio won't have any exclusives. So...yeah.

Can you honestly not think of a few ways in which this would lead to a situation similar to what is currently established with PC? That is, forward compatibility, similar architecture, optional upgrades. When the iPhone receives a new model or iOS version, do all games need to be remade again, and is there a significant lag period where developers get to grips with a new architecture, similar to what happened with PS3? The answer is no. This doesn't need to give forward compatibility forever. PC sure doesn't. But at least with PC it does generally give a better deal than what consoles give currently - I remember XP was supported for ages by new PC games, and often still is I believe. Also, regarding optimisation woes, PC games say hi. Those developers release their games on PC already, where hundreds of graphics options exist and where the games are made to run on countless hardware configurations. I think devs will be ok for 2 models for each system.

Majora's Mask 'sounds' > full voice acting for a Zelda game. Fo' sho'. -
This season has been amazing.

As Goron would say...I'd just have to press down and B. -
If it gives people choice, and extends the duration of time in which individual hardware units can receive compatible software, then hell yeah. No generation transitions would also see a much smoother, constant release of hits. No year or so at the start of a generation where nothing much releases while developers start to learn the kit. Basically, like PC. Your choice dude.

The show sounded completely amazing, will watch a recording later when I get in.

By giving people the option. Instead of forcing people every 5, it might well be just an option every 3. If like PC, it would mean hardware would last much longer, providing you don't want to upgrade. Makes too much sense for companies, which is why I think it has happened - why risk your millions of PSN/XBL subscribers going elsewhere? The online subscriptions are one of the most steady sources of income for them. The PC architecture adoption means it's also much easier to go with forward compatibility!
