  1. Newsies? I'm getting a bit worried about this commitment stuff, I don't think I'd be able to commit to anything until May/June time due to uni exams and that. How often are you looking at an article coming up? Also, why do these topics not sort of merge across boards like? Like, this topic is different to the one on the wii boards, different posts and stuff(excepting the first few)
  2. I'm fed up with the amount of stuff kids get these days, and the amount of liberties they have too, I think it's just making society worse somehow. I wish they would give anyone and everyone in full time education free travel too, just because they seem to give everyone free travel just after I've passed the boundary for a group. The Wright Stuff was talking about rebellion this morning, and one thing Matthew mentioned was that kids don't even have anything to rebel against these days, is it true? I dunno, I feel like I'm getting old and forgetting my age, something I never wanted to do
  3. You've lost your numbers Tellyn! As for this, when I heard about it I kind of felt like a kid again, I loved Mr Bean(comic relief he's making a comeback people!), it was so simple and yet so amusing to watch as a kid, I definitely wanna go see this when it comes out, even though I know nothing about it. One of my favourite bean moments is maybe the redecorating job with the paint and the dynamite. Or maybe the turkey. Actually, I dunno if anything beats the sofa car thing, if I remember rightly he tries to drive his car from in a sofa on top of it?
  4. So I came home, had a drink then fell asleep for 3 going on 4 hours, no work been done but meh. Basically, their first line of argument on this documentary was that of how CO2 levels are rising compared to temperature. I word it like that, because they basically showed a graph of CO2 levels and Temperature, and it showed that CO2 levels varied in accordance with temperature, but lagged behind slightly. As in, when temperature would rise then CO2 levels would rise in line with it, not the other way around. Now surely, this is the very basis of the manmade global warming effect, and thus destroys the theory as such? That was the hook that got me right away. Sure, it seems alot more ridiculous now, temperature causing CO2 rises?! Surely not! It just doesn't make sense! That's the thing with the greenhouse gas explanation, it makes sense and thus we believe it easier, because it is a theory that every one of us can understand. As it happens, I do believe that the greenhouse analogy is actually an incorrect one, so whilst we think we understand how it works, we actually don't! Thing is, who's to say it's right anyway? It's just everywhere and has become the general consensus, but does anyone of us non scientists REALLY know it to be true? Have we see a conclusive proof? I wonder sometimes if even people like Tony Blair has seen the proof, or if he's just been told by the people employed to tell him. When something is believed by everyone, I feel it just begins to breed itself, and it's even harder then to accept people suggesting otherwise. I used to think about things like this, thought about how everyone used to think the sun went round the earth and how now we look back and laugh at them, and was sure nothing like that could ever happen in this day and age. But could it? Could this be another sun round the earth incident? As for government, it seems beneficial to them that the manmade explanation is correct, given all this carbon taxes and whatnot that we keep hearing about, and even more reason to put up the prices of petrol too. I'd like to say I'm keeping an open mind to it, though I'm more on the side of non man made as it firstly makes me feel better, and secondly I dunno, maybe I just want to be different. As I said before though, if I could just see a nice easy to understand proof of the man made explanation, the I'll accept it gladly.
  5. You are all very very helpful people! I'm gonna reply to everyone who's given me their email address, and if you haven't I can't send the questionaires(they're in word documents) unless someone knows where I could host them for free? Quick rundown for people, as the consent form will say, you have the right to pull out at any time, and your data isn't going to be kept with your name so it'll all be confidential, and I'm not gonna be selling any of it, one thing I should have mentioned, I'm not really allowed to test people under 18 due to them ethics. Also, for those wondering, it's just a personality questionaire and then a luck questionaire, it's just a study looking at how personality variables can predict the self rated luckiness scores, there's no clever deception or anything.
  6. I watched it, and it's pretty much turned me to the other side, I totally hate the whole greenhouse/manmade global warming thing, until I see an actual proof of it which I can understand. I have alot to say about it, but I need to go home and do my work.
  7. Hi N-Europe! I haven't been around much lately, because I've got a big uni project that I'm doing due for next week. It's a little study for my psychology mini project, and I kind of need some more participants, fast! I need to collect all my data(well, not all but about 15 more people minimum), score it, then analyse it, then write it up, then discuss it, all in under 2 weeks. It's just 2 questionaires basically, and shouldn't take more than 10 minutes of your time to complete. If you do wanna help out and fill them in, email me or reply here with your email and I'll send you to questionaires and a little consent form(required because of ethics and all that malarky). My uni email is [email protected] Thanks to anyone who decides to help me out! (Sorry if this shouldn't be here, but I was hoping it'd get noticed) EDIT:Crap, I forgot to mention, I'm not sposed to test people under 18. Also edited my other post into here; Quick rundown for people, as the consent form will say, you have the right to pull out at any time, and your data isn't going to be kept with your name so it'll all be confidential, and I'm not gonna be selling any of it, one thing I should have mentioned, I'm not really allowed to test people under 18 due to them ethics.
  8. Thanks to you both, I'll get on it now! As I said, I don't know alot about audio files and how stuff, how do I change the bitrate in audacity?
  9. Is it just me or are these posts all over the place? It's like there's some sort of time vortex in this thread and they got mixed out of order! What may I ask are the rules, I keep seeing mention of 'rules' but have no idea what they are? Very cool idea though, I like it!
  10. For some reason, I reckon it'd have been real funny in a deadpan sort of way if you'd just punched him out as he was finishing his scentence. Sometimes I think I may have a problem. I think the title should be changed to 'The Gum Debate' and be used to discuss the new trident adverts, which I don't really get the point of, though I am really tempted to try some of this supposed super amazing gum. I lol'd.
  11. I have some mp3s, and I want to make them smaller. They're huge because they have a bitrate of like 320, does anyone know how I can make them smaller by converting them into a lower bitrate? Is there something that will do it efficiently enough, that it won't sound crap? I dunno alot about music files, but I know that files ripped from a cd at 96kbps are good enough for my ears compared to the same files ripped at 320kbps. However, I do not have the CD these were ripped from, so I'm looking for someway to basically get them that small, without re-ripping them. Anyone point me in the right direction?
  12. I remembered that! I was about the time I started watching, and I thought 'wow, hollyoaks is as shit as they say, she's only been in it a few weeks!' I'm glad that Darren Jeffries is only leaving temporarily, he's one of my favourites of the show, dunno how the new actor will go, I hope he doesn't end up staying. Also nice to see that Hollyoaks is REAL soap, they don't let a petty thing like actors get in their way! EDIT: Wow, the thread was moving fast. I gotta agree with Platty here, original clare was much hotter!
  13. Considering also that alot of people don't die now(cancer, obesity, diabetes, everything etc) whereas 1000 years ago they would have, I also wonder where the human race is going. Then again, would it be right to not have a health service trying to cure everything?
  14. That does sound pretty cool Sooj, you got a picture?
  15. Someone seems a bit obssessed with him to me... I see Max and OB have embarked on some new crazy business adventure, I'm looking forward to a Max and OB storyline, they're a nice bit of comedy relief in hollyoaks for me. Wow, didn't expect to stumble upon this on Wikipedia;
  16. I'm sure you're dying for someone to ask this, so, care to elaborate?
  17. I actually totally understand where the OP is coming from, and I totally sympathise with you. You are NOT in the wrong, people are just fucking selfish ungrateful hypocrites, and it really annoys me. Rise above it though, and don't give him anything ever again in future. (Something similar happened when I was back in school, in like year 8 or 9)
  18. How good is your channel 5? Mine's a bit shit, and I thought it'd contribute to having bad freeview when I got it, but we have 3 boxes in our house including mine, and as far as I'm aware they all work fine(all run from the same aerial using a signal booster in the loft). Sky are gay for that whole virgin fiasco, what a bunch of knobs.
  19. LoL, i WaS jUsT aBoUt tO sAy ThE sAmE tHiNg aFtEr SeEiNg HaRrIbO's PiC. I do sometimes think 'Ty' in my head when I say thanks to people, but I don't think I've actually said it yet. I think Ty would be quite a cool substitute for thanks, and it isn't even that far from ta anyway, which I sometimes use.
  20. I'm not so bothered about freeloader, but I'd like to see an action replay where you can logic search your own codes again, or at least be able to modify existing codes a little bit, I really enjoyed doing that ever since having a game genie on my SNES. $35 though? I hope it isn't more than £20 over here.
  21. Im gonna re-ask the question. Are they actually £10 or not? If yes, reference please! I'd totally get Ninjabread man for a tenner, even if it was the shittest thing in the world. In fact, if it was just a slightly streamy turd in a box for a tenner, I'd get it. He's a NINJABREAD MAN.
  22. WTF? Who comes up with these stupid ideas for laws?! I wish I could sign this lots, local gigs are what make up most of my weekends! EDIT:Is the e-petition system getting a bit out of hand? http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/goldanthem/
  23. I've seen people use sk8te before, and it made me want to find them and then slap them hard, twice. That's what annoys me most about it when done online, people who aren't actually saving themself any hassle, either creating more or just making themselves look retarded.
  24. 17? Faster than tomorrow arrives, you'll find yourself approaching 20 and wondering where those 3 years have actually gone! Happy birthday man enjoy it while it lasts! There's only 1 year until you're legal!
  25. Stupid me, I'm a bit of a retard, you said what it was already. I'm missing skins?! I'm watching Man Stroke Woman, I can't believe I just missed skins. I find that flourescent lights going on and off seem to screw my box up, I recently found out something which would imply it's because they cause small surges when turned on and off, and some freeviews are a bit sensitve to it, but I doubt that'd be the case with a TV one. I've heard that some parts of the country can't recieve it very well at all, but I dunno where I'm getting this from...
