Bard, what are you drinking pints of? Water? I'm pretty sure if you can manage 8 pints in half an hour you're some sort of medical miracle. Go tell your doctor so he can become famous and you can make lots of money!
-
That's actually really good to hear, I spent like an hour+ earlier trying to S one of the ring events in challenge mode, always managed to miss just one ring somehow, twas most annoying! Quite glad I got this, it takes some getting into, but the more I play it the more I find myself loving it.

lol, you know, I couldn't help but think the same. Barely anyone I knew when we was around that age would be able to have more than 6 pints at the most, I'm not ashamed to say I was proper lightweight(hey, cheaper for me!) and could get tipsy enough on like 2-3 pints. scubahood, how much was you drinking that it was costing you £100 a week?? I don't think I've ever broken £20 on drink on a night out drinking, and it'd be rare for me to get close to that unless I was somewhere super expensive. I can't stand cider Even so, I'd like to say I'm glad I started drinking when I did, only because I'd be a different person if I hadn't, and I really like who I am, without singing my own praises or nothing lol. Thing is, now when I think back, I do sometimes think about the damage it's slowly doing to me, and how it might start to affect me soon, especially given that I'm of indian asian descent so I imagine my body isn't so tolerant to alcohol. Do you ever consider the damage it might be doing? As far as I know, pretty much everyone is like that, I remember I used to be but now I quite like it, I think theres something about beer thats so different to anything else you can get, if that makes sense.

Is it a sign of getting old that I really dissapprove of people under the age of 16 drinking, or even 18 for that matter, despite the fact I did so when I was? I feel like it's hypocritical to think they shouldn't, but I also feel like I did so why shouldn't they as long as they aren't causing trouble? I'd say it's another matter, but I think underage drinking tends to be much more of a binge drinking sort of thing anyway, as I know when I was younger we'd be splitting bottles of straight spirit, usually just because you can't afford much as a kid on pocket money. Underage drinking has grown since I did it too methinks, every friday and saturday all you see is chavvy kids hanging around outside off licenses round my way, friday and saturdays is probably the shittest time to go our round here. In fact, there was a Lloyds(wetherspoons) up the road from me, that was kind of like a bar with a dancefloor than a pub, but they recently changed because there is so much trouble with all the drunk people around here on weekends.

I am feeling a bit like this is a short game, but the fact I got it for £20 makes me feel better about that. I've already S-ranked the bronze and silver cups in excite mode, and I wouldn't say I've been playing more than 4-5 hours. I managed to get an 1800 spin today too, and I'm getting better with general playing, using the dpad a little less accidentally, and also starting to remember more about getting good air(which i apparently wasnt really doing before).

That's the thing, I think it differs from person to person of how drunk drunk is, most people will say that beyond the point of remembering is too drunk. Others may think it's where you start slurring words and so on. I'll admit, it's been a rare occasion where I've been sober around drunk people, so I haven't really seen alot of other drunks from a sober point of view to be honest. 6 units? That isn't very much at all, about 2-3 pints depending on the strength? I'd say more than 10 units over 3 hours would be around about binge drinking levels. (Is it ironic that as I type this, I'm actually having some beer)
-
When does sober turn tipsy and when does tipsy turn drunk? I'd say drunk is simply an elevated tipsy. How drunk are you talking though, like drunk you find it hard to talk proper, drunk you won't remember anything, drunk that you're falling over? The only problem with getting really drunk, is that it increases the chances of you doing/starting something stupid, but it doesn't happen to everyone. As for 'binge drinking', isn't the technical definition of binge drinking like more than 5 units at a time or something? That's only true if the people affected accept that as an excuse. Me personally, I don't use being drunk as an excuse for doing any of the stupid things I do when drunk, and I don't expect people to take it as a valid reason either. Alcohol doesn't put anything in you, it doesn't exert some exterior control on you, it just(as chris the great said) breaks down judgement and inhibitions, but the desires and behaviours are already there, they're part of you.

Yeah I could, but I actually don't want to because I'm quite interested in the topic I chose, and I wanna see how my results turn out. For everyone who has sent me back questionnaires, I'm just about to send out debriefs for you. I could still do with more people, the more the better really, so if anyone does want to help out, just send me an email!

I take your points, I'm not denying that there's alot of stuff in this world which I am told and blindly believe. How do I actually know that the earth goes round the sun? I don't. However, in this circumstance I've been presented with an alternative view, and it sounds much more plausible to me. Now I'm not so sure which is right and which is wrong. Sure, loads of people are gonna tell me that the man made greenhouse explanation is correct, but how do they know? They know because someone told them that, and someone told that person that, it's all just a big chain of someone telling someone else. I just would like to go straight to the source and see for myself now that I have this doubt. In alot of other things(such as how planes fly, how the earth goes round the sun, how birds fly) I've got a pretty reasonable and plausible explanation with no alternative that I see as 'better', and it so happens in these cases that my current view is the same as the majority. It doesn't mean that me or the majority are 100% correct though either. -
Wow, that's kind of the same as me. The only real thing stopping me from going out more is that everyone's at uni, including people who were still around for me to go out with last year. I don't really think I'm alcoholic, but, I dunno, it's weird. I once visited my mate at uni and went to his uni club, we drank before leaving, and drank snakebites when we got there, I don't remember much, lost my coat, and was apparently carried out by the bouncers. I remember I could barely walk, and felt soooo shit(i had also thrown up all over myself, nice and red!). That incident made me weary of how much I drank for a while. This reminds me of something I saw on The Wright Stuff(wooo) last week or so, about new drugs classifications that put alcohol as being more dangerous than LSD, I dunno alot about it so don't take much from that unless I can manage to find a source somewhere for whatever it was about. EDIT:Got one. From long link. It's got its flaws though, but I don't want to derail this thread discussing that. I have no problem with people who don't drink, I respect them quite alot in fact, because theres alot of pressure in our society to drink at times. I think alcohol is quite a terrible drug to be addicted to, and I think alot more people are than they would like to admit.

I thought that was a bit strange too! As for me, I hate to say I'm quite a drinker. If I go to a pub and have a drink, I feel like theres no point drinking alcohol unless you get at least a little bit drunk, but the number of drinks I have can vary greatly really. My alcohol tolerance seems quite peaky, sometimes I can have quite alot and not feel anything, sometimes just one or two can get me feeling it, so it affects how much I drink. I do feel a bit like I need to drink, I can't resist, it's bad enough that sometimes I think I'm borderline alcoholic. Sometimes I'll have a beer at home, but in that circumstance I won't be drinking to get drunk, unless it's a party here. I'm not much of one for clubbing anymore, and try not to drink as much when going to one to save making a tit of myself. I've had quite an awesome time at a club once just out with the lads, and not drinking anything. I prefer a nice sociable sit down in a pub where you can talk, and maybe get a bit of food too. As for how often I have a night out, whenever the oppurtunity presents itself really. On average, I'd say I have about 4 pints/equivalent maybe on a night out to the pub. I do tend to not just stick to the same drink sometimes, so it's a bit harder to say accurately. At house parties I typically end up having quite a bit more than what I would if I was out at the pub. I won't deny that on more than one occassion I've been drunk enough that I don't remember what happened the night before, passed out/fallen asleep(i stand by the fact i fell asleep), gotten myself into trouble with mates, made a tit of myself, fallen over and a few other stupid things. Only once however, have I ever gotten home and not remembered/figured out how. I woke up in my bed once when I had been at a random party in the middle of nowhere, and still to this day I'm not sure how I got back here.

Top fruit of all time? The best fruit that could ever grace your tastebuds? It is none other than the fruitiest of fruits; The mango. Anybody who has never had a mango before, go out to the shop today and buy one, seriously. Of course, try and get a good one, then cut it into thirds longways and eat it(have the middle seed part first, or give that bit to someone else). It seriously is probably the best natural thing you'll ever taste. Other fruits for me are sweet things from the orange/citrus family, clementines mandarins satsumas oranges themselves etc. Sometimes I have apple, but not often or by my own accord. Not a big fan of bananas really, dunno why, and I hate avacado I think, or at least I remember having disliked it since I was really little so I've never had it since. I like kiwi fruit and lychee, but I've had neither for ages. Plums are kind of nice when they don't have the skin, the skin makes it kind of bitter. Seriously though people, go eat a mango, today.

When I was littler, I used to love watermelons, and yellow melons(proper name?) not so much. Now hoever, I'm not so keen on watermelons, the seeds are too many and annoying cos they ruin the taste for me, so I've turned to the yellow side I'm afraid.

That's what I have the biggest problem with really, we only seem to know what we're told. The paper told you these scientists had their theories debunked, but have you actually seen the proof that what they're saying isn't true? The proof that conclusively shows that greenhouse gases are causing this rise in temperature and not vice-versa? That's all I want to see, the proof, but I have no idea where to find it. -
I finally got it, for £20 in gamestation, picked up 2 copies and gonna give marcamillian one as a present. I'm...not not impressed, but not overly impressed. I think it's cos it's different. Firstly, having the control pad as boost? Stupid idea, maybe having up on it as accellerate, down as brake, and then 2 for boost or something would be easier. Or just cut out the control pad and have A for boosting, I find the control pad a stupid idea for this because it's a bit confusing, I keep trying to use it to steer because my thumbs over it and then forgetting I have to tilt the wiimote. As for the game, I played for about hour and a half, not all that into it because I feel a bit crap, gotten 2 Ss and an A and a B on the bronze cup though, but I'm pretty inconsistent trying to do as good again as I have previously. I must say, I am impressed with the looks though, it looks much better than I expected though, dunno why the pictures on the box look so shitty given that the actual game doesn't look like that. Silly really, doesn't help the image at all! For £20 though, so far, it isn't too shabby, I just think I need to get to the controls really, and work out the best ways to earn my stars. Need to get some good music on my SD card too.

Whats the worst that could possibly happen though? I highly doubt they'll go bust or anything, just be cracked down for copyrighted material and maybe have to pay out a few million in damages. Or it might turn into a pay service. (did a post of mine get deleted, or have i posted it in a completely irrellevant place so it looks like a random post? I could have sworn I posted here earlier...quite funny actually, considering I was learning about false memory today...)

As it happens, I'm just meeting up with some mates back from uni down the pub on saturday, though it isn't actually because it's st. patrick's day. I'll probably wear something green and have some guiness though, just because. Really, it's just an excuse for us british to go out and get a little more wasted down the pubs.

You know, this made me giggle as I thought how it would be the other way round. As for them suing youtube, I say good, I dunno why, but I apparently hate google being so rich and owning so much?

Congrats, she looks really cute! It's weird to think you're just a few months older than me, and you have a kid, its...weird. Dunno why, but the name Jessica popped into my head, it isn't japanese or anything, but it just stuck there when I was reading this thread.

Jesus! I feel it's too good to be true, I wonder if I could make it to my nearest game station and back before quarter past 3? I'm afraid if I don't take advantage now, it'll be gone by time I do. It'll take me about an hour to get to its door, then an hour back...
-
Is that brand new?! I'm gonna get this next friday hopefully, I could swing by gamestation on my way home. Judging from this thread, and how it's still alive and getting posts, that this game does have a decent life in it, and I've decided I definitely wanna get it now!

I think if we already have them, then keep them, but how much is keeping them maintained and stuff actually costing the country? I can see the reason for having them, and how it deters things sort of thing, but I just hope it'd never ever come down to a nuclear war from anyone. Just curious, if somewhere say along the top of france got nuked, would it affect some of england?

I think you have my confused, I'm not very religious at all! Something else they said was that it would take quite a temperature rise before the water levels rise significantly enough due to the ice caps melting and kill us all. Having read that news article about the scientists who've been getting death threats, I can't help but think someone is worried. -
I'm watching the good old Wright Stuff again, on the Today's Papers section, there was a bit that said 230 people are expelled from school every day. For things such as drug possession, violent/racist behaviour, sexual misconduct, having alcohol etc The shock? It's 230 primary school children. Every day. 230. I am pretty sure things and people have changed since my day. AnArticle

I see, would be cool if you could like get it linked across all the boards like some sort of global announcement thingy. As for newsies, I thought that was what you meant, has Dante not applied for the job? He does have an awful lot of news, though it isn't always Ninty related.
