The new anime and manga thread! [Use Spoiler Tags!]
Sméagol replied to Shorty's topic in General Chit Chat
Yup, Arrietty, the current Ghibly will play starting Wednesday here, so I’ll be seeing it (and probably open up a thread for it). -
Great! I’d like to see (test) footage! Slightly similar, but a low budget solution to filming out of the carwindow is to use a bag of rice to steady your camera. Or so I’ve heard. But again, I’d love to see how your rig performs.

Pokémafia X : The Tournament of Champions SIGN UPs
Sméagol replied to ReZourceman's topic in General Chit Chat
Can you give an estimate of when this’ll start? Also, how does this exactly relate to Pokemafia 12 and the previous mafias? (that said, if it won’t start for quite a while, I’m likely to join) -
Roles looked cool Tales! I think, the nightless set-up could’ve worked if you took a little more time planning for it, and working out how role abilities should be applied. It’s a shame, because it clearly didn’t work as a last-minute experiment, which resulted in an awkward switch to a tradional set-up. I honestly think it could’ve worked. Anyway, the theme was very cool, and all the characters just sound epic. I would’ve enjoyed this one if I wasn’t on a break!

I dunno, the arctic silver has good reviews, and it’s what most people use on the tech forum I go to.. It’s what I used. (then again, if you don’t build computers for a living (or just a lot just for fun), then you only need a few drops of the stuff, so I you know anyone else who has built a computer recently, perhaps you can just borrow a tube)

Today’s Steam Summer sale deals include Braid for € 2,24, I think I’m getting that one. (Although.. Have to hurry, it only last for 1,5 more hours before the next day starts)
-
So.. What about the “no talking about running mafia games” rule? :p
-
I don’t. Toy Story 3 felt like the perfect ending. Then again, I wasn’t expecting much from that one either, but they nailed it. If anyone can nail a 4th, it’s Pixar, but at this point I’d prefer if they didn’t.
-
Well, I see 3 of us in-game, but on different servers. If some more join, we should agree on a server.
-
So, I’m online.. A few others I see.. Game? Haha, unfortunately, the summer sale results in Steam breaking.. Great timing !
-
Steam summer sale has just started. I am looking at Borderland (GotY ed.), but I don’t think I’ll be buying at the moment. Still, if something good comes along..

You can set up events yourself by the way Dyson. I made one now, for today, 8 PM UK. I can change it if people like. Or you can set up an event.
-
Haven’t looked much into it (since it’s invite-based), but I like the sound of it. I hope they manage to make it clutter free. I don’t really use my FB, but if I would, I’d be interested in other people’s real updates, and not the game achievements and funny pictures and the like.

Sorry, I missed the announcements the last few days. I think I can make it online tonight. If you don’t mind a crap player (rarely play this, MW2 and such is more my thing, but if I play, I’m usually heavy or medic).

Has this ever been posted?

I occasionally skim this, but I overlooked this one. Some lovely pictures there, so thanks Goafer! I was thinking of getting one, purely to see what’s possible with it. I don’t need a tumblr / blog, but this may suit my dad who asked me about perhaps getting a site, but he knows shit about the internet, I have a feeling this may be perfect for him when (if) he gets around to it. I can have a look at theme creation. Anyway, I was wondering.. What do the referrals do for the ones getting them?

The cruiser looks cool, but how does it curve like that? I saw another curvy building on that MOC site, but I’d consider that cheating . Didn’t know the name anymore, but googled it, this is the one: http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/6878_Sub_Orbital_Guardian Released: 1991. Goddamn. That thing is 20 years old! I am old. .

If it’s just the minifigures you want.. Well, you can’t get the high profile figures like Darth Vader in a relatively cheap way, but Lego sells normal minifigures (not related to a specific theme) in sets and blind boxes: http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Leaf.aspx?cn=634&d=70 You can get low-profile themed minifigures by buying the cheap Lego sets, like this one: http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=8083&cn=634&d=70 If you don’t mind having a keychain attached to your minifigures (if, say, you want them as keychains! ), you can actually get the likes of Darth Vader: http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?p=3913&cn=472&d=322 I bought a Darth Vader keychain for my brother in a Lego shop in Köln. Like all my other toys, all my Lego sets got a lot of abuse. I had some fantastic stuff as a kid, a train set, some Technic stuff etc. I’d build the sets, then after some time, destroy them and put the parts together in one general purpose bucket. I still have most of the booklets, so theoretically I could rebuild those sets, but a lot of parts went missing during the years etc. A quick photo of the Lego sets which have survived my abuse and are still complete (but dusty) after all those years: The last thing I did with my collection of Lego parts, was to build some modular car system.. Thing. The chassis would be the same, but I had made different bodies for it. It’s somewhere in storage right now. My dream back then was to make a working Transformer out of Lego. If I ever get back into Lego (whenever I have the money and the space ), I’d like to make a big Lego city. Anyway, after seeing this thread bumped, I decided to give the Lego designer another go, and you know what, it finally works! Although it’s not compatible with Windows aero, that’s annoying, but whatever. So I’m going to play with that .

Crap. I already blew my money on a Tachikoma, and I’m not into kits.. But damn, I want this: [The kit on HLJ] Not strictly Nintendo, but I’m sure I’m not the only one wanting this. Never too late to get started with kits! On the other hand, they may release a completed version later on. Also, these look pretty good for Nintendo merchandise: Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a huge selection. [@ HLJ]

It is bullshit, because the BBC has [officially commisioned 14 new episodes featuring Matt Smith], along the 6 eps part of the 2nd half of the current season plus its Christmas special.

Have you seen the original British miniseries? Can’t remember much of it, but it had a fantastic cast. Went to Amsterdam yesterday to see Trolljegeren and (Untitled). Finally saw the first title, after making a thread for it half a year ago, which [i found a bit disappointing] unfortunately. The second one made up for this though. It wasn’t playing in Rotterdam for some reason. So me and my brother made it a day out. I was contemplating making a thread for it, but I doubt it’d get much attention. (Untitled) is a comedy about the (New York) art and music scene. It seems satirical in one way, in that it seems to take a stab at avant-garde artists, but it comes around with a sweet and positive message. Still the various displays of “art” are hilarious, as are the characters who are involved, I guess especially to non-artsy people like me . The great thing about this film is, eventhough it had me in stitches, the film itself never critisises the art or these people. If it’s satirical, it’s in the way it portrays the commercialisation of art, and even in that it’s never too harsh. I’m glad I went all the way to Amsterdam for this one, wouldn't want to have missed this for the world. I’d recommend it, but I don’t see any UK releasedates on IMDB. Guess you can call this arthouse. (Untitled) [Official site]

Went all the way to Amsterdam to see this film (and another one), in a much better cinema than the one one that was playing it here a few weeks ago. In typical fashion, I missed the first 5-10 minutes though, it was quite a walk from the train station to the cinema (I always quite underestimate these things, and I always dawdle too much before actually leaving ). Anyway, perhaps somebody can fill me in on what I missed, I got in at the point where they were heading towards the forest. Anyway, If I’m being totally honest.. I can’t call it a good film. I’m glad I’ve finally seen it now, and it has some nice special effects and action scenes, and there’s some gorgeous imagery of Norway to be seen. But even for an obvious tongue-in-cheek film like this, I can’t really forgive the bad script and story. The film itself may be tongue-in-cheek, but the vibe they’re going for is the same as similar (..) films, like Cloverfield: a bit of a serious horror vibe, and within such context, the illogical decisions and stupid explanations don’t really fit (and annoyed me a bit). I think they should’ve decided early on if they wanted to go in a clear horror direction, or a clear comedy direction, I think both directions could’ve improved this film a lot. Also.. The ending was really abrupt, and not keeping in line with earlier established elements. Anyway, I wouldn’t call this a huge waste of my time, but I don’t think I’ll want this on a disc.

I believe he said in the general thread he'd wait untill at least 2 games of the current running ones are finished. I believe we have a while.

Confirmative.
