Yeah I think it's a given using the controllers like that is just for ease of portability, or if you want to put it down like the guy does on the plane in the trailer. I think they make perfect sense for that use.

I've realised that there is one place I could be let down heavily by Nintendo. I don't really care about speed, gpu or any other specs, but I care about HDD space. It needs to be easily expandable, I don't want to run out of space with DLC and downloadable titles. Also, the handheld should take standard SD or Micro SD cards like the 3DS, learn from PlayStation's mistake and do not start using proprietary memory cards. I mean, I know you're agreeing with me :p but it's not impossible that some games will utilise the tablet and the TV, probably just using the dock as a transmitter of game information, so only getting the amount of available power that you get undocked. I'm not :p the Wii originally touted having this kind of thing and most of it was tacky or never materialised at all. It's not necessary to augment the device with plastic, I can do that much with my imagination...

The fact people are surprised that the reaction is positive goes to show there's too much prejudice against anyone with a negative opinion on Nintendo. People expect dislike, because they genuinely believe we don't like things "because it's Nintendo". Of course the reaction to this is going to be mostly positive. It's a good, smart, modern device, showing off the big titles we've not seen for ages and the kind of cross-platform third party support we haven't seen since the Snes.

I originally did that quest with my hunter, who didn't even have a void subclass, and a fusion rifle.

Did anyone ever care about whether Pokemon would be on a home console, from the sense that it would or would not be portable? I think that's an argument that might've developed over time on this forum but lost its reasoning along the way. The point was, people want a full sized Pokemon game with the scale and depth that you usually only get from a console. It's not about whether it's on a system you can unplug and take outside, it's about whether it's a Pokemon game that looks more like the new Zelda than like Sun/Moon. Doesn't really matter what people are saying or how it's referred to at this point IMO, we all have the same info.... BBC are only saying what they've seen, no different to what you've seen.

I'm pretty sure that it's not a touch-screen, nor is it dual screen, so you won't be using the tablet while playing on your TV. Just guessing really, but they didn't show any touch functionality in the trailer. If it's not, I won't miss it at all.

@Phube for the love of... rehost your sig already :p Honestly, I am just so happy there's no gimmick. Even you were telling me 2 hours ago to prepare for something "quirky", and I don't think this fits that. It looks smart, modern and definitely has a broad appeal. Even though I won't use it half as many of the ways that video showed it off, I still want one. And, it feels like a sign that they're realising they can have their unique footprint without being tacky.

I don't think so, these games are huge with Indie devs, we still see plenty of them on consoles after all. I think if this replaces the 3DS, there won't be full-price titles that fit that niche anymore though.

Not really, I know that the people here still want Nintendo games. I know that Daft has had a similar feeling to me about the Wii U but was as hyped as me for the Switch immediately. Just seems like a big leap back in the right direction here. It's gimmick free. These days that's the best thing I can say about any Nintendo announcement.

I'm surprised by the apprehensive responses. I'm one of the biggest Nintendo cynics and I want this, bad.

I mean we have been doing a lot of DPS. Always combining WoL with Shadowshot, the scorch cannons do 100k plus with that combo and Black Spindle was doing 30k per headshot and my LL was relatively low (382-383).

Not so sure this should be a worry. I mean this is an inherent function that just works. It's not a gimmick like offscreen or dual screen play, switching between the two will only ever be a playstyle option, never a feature. So, logically, once the architecture is in place, the focus should be on everything else.

Honestly I think it looks fantastic. And not quirky or weird, smart, well made, quality. It's what EG said it would be (see), and more.

Don't care what it is, only care that it's not stupid and has good games. Twitch in one tab, Nintendo youtube videos by date in another tab, Nintendo UK in the third tab, if all else fails come back here and shout at you lot.

I like the tone and direction the trailer hints at, but can't help assuming they'll fuck it up in the third act with a samurai robot or broken deadpool.

Seeing a new Mario is one thing. Seeing the new Mario be New Super Mario Bros. NX is something else entirely.

Keep up! I've realised I don't care what this system is. Don't care if it's 3D, 4k, backwards compatible. Portable, home console, hybrid. Online, offline, New Wii U. VR, AR, Dreamcast 2. I only want to see my favourite games come back.

That's true, I forgot we've been doing the monitors every time. A bit of afk time too. I have used the sword on the captains but not Aksis, tbh I'm running out of exotic shards to keep my LL up!

Most of us have Outbreak Prime or the quest to do it (the main obstacle there was, we didn't play with 2 of each class type). Not everyone was 385 (I'm still not), and a few people wanted another shot at the NM gear for the shader, or to get our level up a bit to make HM smoother. I think we can manage HM though. I'll try and get an artifact before we start. Edit: funny that you say a raid takes 2 hours with all those problems, we've never done it that fast even if we do every boss in one go.

I'm inclined to believe Tphi that Mario NX will be there, either that or Eurogamer is going to have been wrong about everything to date and very embarrassed.
