Oh god CEX...the staff, the customers, the shelves, the money...the whole place just absolutely stinks like a sweaty arse!

With the benefit of hindsight...they really should have gone ahead with their plans of a TV division and stick with it in my opinion. It would have provided them with a different USP from the PS4 and, with the popularity of streaming services, selling the box as well as the service (or even including it in Gold) would have been great. Still, whether they would have binned it off like Kinect is another matter (well, technically they did) but I think rolling back on all these features actually did more harm than good, apart from the DRM issue.

Well... 😂

I have to say I think it suits the philosophy of the Switch quite well; its positioned as the console that can do everything, so having a cloud/streaming of a game is an interesting model to try out with it. Admittedly it would be better if, like Xbox Game Pass, you could download the game to your console and would make much more sense for on the go, but from the top of my head Japan's 5G mobile network is very good compared to ours? Might play a factor. @markderoos sadly I'm completely the opposite, I've gained an interest in collecting game paraphernalia like books etc, but I'd much rather have access to game on a cheaper model as once I'm done with it I'll always trade a game in and don't collect them in that way at all...so fingers crossed it works

I'm going for a test. This is a test of the Switch's ability to pull this off, and a test to see if people will try this sort of gaming method. After all, I think it's something like £18 to "have" the game for 6 months, which you'd probably do and see everything in; they could easily be charging £40-£50 for this (obviously it's Japan only at the moment)
-
I'd already seen it was a cloud version but watching the trailer what a troll, the logo comes up "YASSS!" And then at the bottom "cloud version"..."wut?" Hopefully this will come to the West as still yet to play it, if nothing else I'd like to see how it handles being streamed, if the Switch is up to this sort of thing or not.
-
Just keep an eye on flash sales if you can e.g I popped into Game yesterday and FIFA 18 was £25 on Switch brand new, seen that for Skyrim and LA Noire too. Sadly you and Glen are right though, holding their value so high it almost makes no difference if you get a game on launch or six months later. Even Ubisoft games! And that's saying something

Reading that has brought an idea to mind; there were rumours that MS were going to be buying EA...well how about like you say they pick up some of those Konami/dormant licenses, specifically PES, plough money in to it to get licenses and have their own football franchise with an established player base? Clutching at straws though, but yeah like Sony got with the Shenmue 3 reveal, they need that sort of goodwill big moment to really get them back in the right sphere for the Xbox Two (or whatever it'll be called). I think they've actually done a lot right, like this accessible controller, building their own streaming service (Mixer) into the console, cross play, game pass...yet they are missing the most crucial aspect, games! I think your initial point about being so far behind the PS4 now, they've got these building blocks in place, keep sorting out that side of it and then when the new console comes out save the big games for that.

Agreed about Crackdown 3; for me it's going to have to be new IP's though, if they trot out Halo 6, Gears 5, Forza whatever I'm going to be underwhelmed. Alternatively, they've secured exclusivity on some third party games or something like that. I just can't tell how their E3 is going to go, it'll either tear the house down or be one of the final nails in the One's/Xbox as a whole's coffin.

If Reggie has come out with that claim I'd have rolled my eyes, but I always feel like Phil Spencer is incredibly likeable and genuine, so good on him and Microsoft for this! Bringing them crashing back down to reality though, although it's sitting on 72 on Metacritic (for what that's worth) State of Decay 2 is getting some dreadful write ups, especially Eurogamer's; sounds like it's broken and unfinished. MS need to get their games in order and fast, the fact Super Lucky's Tale is one of the better options to play on their at the moment says it all!
-
Finished off the Lucky DLC yesterday, quite a different experience from the main game! Mainly, it was a lot harder. Certainly the skill levels (divided up into approx 6 skill, 3 boss battle and 6 puzzle levels) and while the boss and puzzle I did in an hour all together, the skill actually took me a few sittings as some of them became quite tricky. Enjoyable addition, although pure fun wise I enjoyed the Gilly's Island DLC as it was more of what had come before it. Interesting playing this at the same time as DKTF too; the lack of polish in Lucky is very evident, things like getting stuck in scenery, shoddy collision detection against enemies and collectables became even more noticeable. Still, I'll have some more DLC if there's any going in the future!
-
The more I've thought about it, I can't see how there wouldn't be some sort of actual F Zero cross over, if it is indeed a futuristic racer. Even if it's just a few racers and tracks, if Mario Kart can do it then 100% they would put some of that in this game. If there is a hub world, what's to stop them adding a 'true' Star Fox game into this one as (paid) DLC? That'd be great, you have the GP area, and then a complete single player traditional area, an online area... One can dream at least
-
Hmm, I mean it's not amazing...I can't really disagree with saying it's generic, I think I've just enjoyed it after being dissapointed by Yooka and crying out for a 3D platformer! If you still have it i would recommend playing through a few of the world's though, it's over very quickly so shouldn't take up too much of your time
-
Yeah that's true, a few times on Rocket League I've been cackling away to myself when @nekunando misses yet another sitter still, with child situation voice chat is not something likely for me either way
-
Just call it "Star Fox" or even "Star Fox World" if it isn't a typical racing game; either way like Hero I'm dissapointed to find this out now if it is true as it sounds really, really interesting!
-
A shame, but understandable! I won't be using voice chat myself on this for the most part, but then as I found with World on Xbox, you don't really need it: everyone knows what they are doing for the most part, certainly the higher up you go.

Nintendo Switch paid online coming 2018
Kaepora_Gaebora replied to Helmsly's topic in Nintendo Gaming
I think it's a good thing Nintendo aren't bringing VC to Switch as we know it; it needs to be revamped for definite. Trotting out the same old "this week it's...Super Mario Bros 2" style wears off quickly and already has for me. If they integrate it into the online service more I'm all for that, mix it up a bit. Coupled with the mini devices, they are still bringing the nostalgia, just in a different way. -
Sounds good, I'd be keen to get up to G rank as quickly as possibly I think before tackling the solo play! @Kav @Blade you two have any desire to get into this as well? Nintendo's frustrating online tendancies aside, of course
-
Mentally going back an forth about picking this up, I didn't really get into Generations on 3DS so it'll feel quite fresh...but then I didn't really get into Generations, so I'm not sure that'll change. If we can get a good hunting group together that might sway me heavily to get it, as I'll be keen to get high up the HR ranks more than the solo play which I found boring after awhile on 3DS.
-
I binned off the HD rumble too, too distracting in hand held mode. The first level of the third world, Grassland Groove, is utterly brilliant; the level design it self is excellent, but the soundtrack takes it to the next level, amazing

So I went to check if I had any time left on my Game Pass subscription...turns out it had expired but, Microsoft clearly saw through my feeble resistance and as part of their deals with gold had another month on game pass for £1 instead of £7.99 (might have something to do with a drop off after Sea of Thieves perhaps...) Anyway the thought of more Lucky was enough to drop that pound and another £5 for the DLC, looks like I'm getting Lucky tonight!
-
I played 3 on the 3DS back in the day (my only time with it) which was brilliant, must go back through some of those MGS games at some point... Anyway I digress, I'll try and stick with V as much as possible, but it's that reason I never bought it outright in the first place, and I'm patient (been waiting three years for this...)
-
Cancelled my game pass subscription with MGSV coming out this month on Gold; that'll keep me entertained and hopefully drag me away from The Division once the GE has finished, so I'll have to wait until I'm back on the get to play this, or if Lucky is in a sale I'll be tempted to pick it up out right

@Hero-of-Time just seen on Kotaku it was removed around February time when the Switch version was announced, just hasn't been spotted until now!
-
I guess it could be to stop confusion about which version needs to be purchased, to avoid people less in the know going for the U version (on their website and Amazon at least) ...but that might a bit too sympathetic, it could quite easily be to stop people realising that cheaper version is out there and make sure they get that Switch version.
