arab_freak Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Talk about getting completely owned. This guy accidentally set his listing for a brand-new 60GB PS3 with a 2-year warranty from Best Buy, plus two free games, a second controller, a Blu-Ray copy of Talladega Nights, and free shipping to Buy It Now instead of bidding, and the winner ended up paying $0.99 for the whole bundle, which the seller waited forty (40) hours in line for to get. I'd like to be the guy that bought that. If that's not getting completely owned, I don't know what is. I wish I was the buyer. But it's obvious that the one selling it won't ship it. http://cgi.ebay.com/Playstation-3-PS3-60-GB-Console-Free-2yr-WARRANTY_W0QQitemZ280051645657QQihZ018QQcategoryZ62054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem#DESCDATA
Jordan88 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 So why is he getting "completely owned" when everyone knows that he isn’t going to sell it for that?
Cube Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 He's signed a contract saying he has to sell it for that price...
Twozzok Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 He's signed a contract saying he has to sell it for that price... I'm pretty sure if it's an obvious mistake you won't even get a warning from eBay. EDIT: like they say the only way they allow you to retract a bid is if it was a mistake. (aka. decimal point in the wrong place.)
Jordan88 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 He's signed a contract saying he has to sell it for that price... That means jack shit we all know he isn't going to.All that will happen at most is he will get a negative feedback wow!
Colin Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 He's signed a contract saying he has to sell it for that price... Well he doesn't have to. Surely he can just not send it, and get bad feedback instead.
Letty Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 EDIT: like they say the only way they allow you to retract a bid is if it was a mistake. (aka. decimal point in the wrong place.) I hate it when that happens
Nintendork Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 You are allowed to not ship if it was an error. Which this was. It's perfectly reasonable for him to refuse shipping, and the buyer would have no leg to stand on should he want to press for his item.
demonmike04 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I'd rather be banned from ebay than follow the contract with something like that.. Kudos to the guy if he follows the deal.
Meik Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 The auction with the guy selling a PS1 and PS2 taped together (claiming PS1+PS2=PS3) is funnier.
demonmike04 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 The auction with the guy selling a PS1 and PS2 taped together (claiming PS1+PS2=PS3) is funnier. Ebay removed it. God knows why, no rules were broken if you read the description.
Nintendork Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 It was misleading, no more and no less misleading than the XBOX (box) that sold for $600. But the name goes hand in hand.
Shorty Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 40 hours to sell it.... Couldn't he have found a better way to earn money in 40 hours?
Fierce_LiNk Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I think it serves him right. That PS3 could have been enjoyed by someone else on launch day. He'll probably end up re-selling it to someone else anyway, but meh.
Zell Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 I remember a while back when a guy sells an Xbox 360 box for $300 or something. That made me lol.
Goron_3 Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Poor guy. I would hate myself if that happened.
Charlie Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Does anyone honestly expect him to send the console to the winner? Put yourself in his shoes, would you send it? Of course not. He'll tell eBay it was a mistake, which it obviously was.
gmac Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 yeah I think it's safe to say that the winner is not getting it for 99 cents
Nintendork Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Why are people (including myself but i'm making a point) posting in this shit thread. It's a little mistake.. it happens all the time. He is not obliged to sell his console. Simple as that. So this is not an amusing story. In fact considering 25,000 hicks and profiteering bastards queued up to get a PS3.. I'm hardly suprised some idiot who is new to eBay did this.

That PS3 could have been enjoyed by someone else on launch day. But in the end, it's going to be enjoyed by someone.
ThePigMarcher Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 The auction with the guy selling a PS1 and PS2 taped together (claiming PS1+PS2=PS3) is funnier. Absolutely brilliant idea (shame I missed seeing that) , and a shame that ebay lack a sense of humour.
