Oddly enough, I find Tomoya by far the most interesting character in the show. I kind of got the feeling that such shows were a hit with women and womenly men, unless guys are really into the whole teen schoolgirl romance issue dramas. :S Seems they do. I also thought this was mainly targeted at a female audience (and indirectly to that male audience). Its not like we expect games or animes to have ugly females characters anyway, why would we consider this one more directed to males just because it has a harem, when in fact it is a romance drama, a genre mainly associated to women. Seriously, there's a massive difference between romance dorama (something like Densha Otoko), and bishoujo. The latter of these is basically rooted in eroges, with a male protagonist and a selection of females to act as "goals" - they're very much an otaku thing, and no socially normal Japanese girl would ever consider buying one. Dorama, on the other hand, is indeed mainly aimed at women, but also collects a fair few male fans. It just so happens that Clannad is one of the least ero eroges ever made, with no porn and very complex (for the genre) characters and story. This means it has some things in common with dorama, and slice of life and so on, but it's still ultimately a bishoujo game that's aimed squarely at male otakus. I mean, it's made by Key... But the art style and emphasis on the male characters is usually much more accentuated in anime geared at women. Some blunt comparisons because I can't be arsed to get more pertinent examples: Geared at the ladies: Geared at the guys: But don't worry, no one will grow a pair of boobs for watching one geared at women, and vice versa for a pair of balls. Posted March 17, 2009 Okay, lads. I've installed Clannad as well as a voice patch onto my PC. I know what I need to do for it to work. Now, I can actually click on the game and it will go to the Main Menu. However, I can go no further. If I select anything on the menu it will stop responding and I'll have to navigate away. Not only that, but AppLocale isn't working for me. I try to get it to support the game but it comes up with a message saying that my "system does not have the support for the selected language." which I thought that's what the programme did anyway. Also, here's my problem with parts of the menu without having Japanese on the computer: And this is what I get at the bottom next to the Start menu: It looks like I will need the Unicode. So I need to find an Windows XP disc that I could borrow from somebody so I could install the language. (Do you actually get that CD-ROM with the PC? Okay, now you got me very confused. I really can't understand what you mean in the 2nd part of your post but shounen and shoujo are not enough to define a genre of course. There's the age issue, you can't say that Clannad or Death Note, for example are in the same age demographic as, say, Naruto or One Piece. Regarding Kannagi (the girl is named Nagi), it doesn't have much fanservice at all. You can say that about Ichigo 100%, which was the picture in the top but I never saw that one. I don't like them. Posted March 18, 2009 (edited) I haven't looked at it full screen yet as I've not watched Clannad: AS but there is a diagram explaining the storyline in both the first series and AS. I'll put it in a spoiler box. It makes me laugh that a spoiler box I create I cannot see the contents of either... But if you're interested as I know a few people here are. Apparently it's quite good. I have also begun watching Vision of Escaflowne. What massive noses they all have. On a side note, no talk of FullMetal Alchemist made me forget the new chapter came out a few days ago. Holy crap things are gonna heat up now (haha...) I'm so used to amazing action that this felt like nothing much happened, even though so cool twists were put in place! I wonder what Ichigo is? The next level of Vaizard maybe? Posted March 19, 2009 We've known that he did that for ages now though. This was more like a transition chapter. A bit calm, but it prepares for things to happen in the future. Also it cleared a few things up. As for Bleach. Guess he's a hollow/human hybrid. Gives him the epic hollow powers aswell as his Shinigami ones so quite the boost. Or maybe his mask was never complete. Either way he's totally ahead of Ulquiorra and might give him a chance against Aizen. I've been waiting for a big power up since the whole thing about the Kings Key got mentioned. Posted March 20, 2009 Man I hate Oasis... sounds like every other song they sing. Shame they're gonna ruin what sounds like an awesome Production IG anime with that song. Although. I don't watch the openings anyways. Naruto, even though it felt slow, that usually happens in any media. A slow bit slotted into a fast paced section just to calm it down a bit. Also I randomly watched the first few seconds of a Eureka 7 trailer, for the series, and it was dubbed. Renton's voice was horrible. It nearly ruined the show for me. Posted March 20, 2009 That was alright, yeah. I was expecting it to be more of a plothole filler. But it did look like it confirmed that Kyou had some sort of crush on Tomoya from the beginning. I expected it to show the incident that caused Nagisa to repeat the third year and, well, show the catalyst of the whole series. I suppose that cause was that she simply got a bad fever. Oh, well. But it does show that Nagisa and Tomoya had some sort of connection before they properly met, which I liked. That ep also had what must be the most ecchi and fanservice scene in the whole series.
