demonmike04 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Ok, I live in a slightly small town, infact, incredibly small. We have 3 possible stores that would open for a midnight launch, Game, Gamestation and HMV. Apparently, my town's game was open at midnight for the launch of the cube. But what do you think, would any of those stores open a few stores nationwide for the Wii launch? Did anything similar happen for the 360 and DS launch? This may be useful info for others too, so please help.
wooks63 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Does it really matter if you get it at midnight? Get a decent night's sleep then you will be more alert to go and collect your console in the morning and then play it all day.
Retro_Link Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Game have done midnight launches before (I think they did for the 360), I think I might go for the midnight launch at Game if they have one for the Wii!
ShadowV7 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 If I can I will, but I need to find out what places,if any will be open.
AshMat Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I really wish that day wasn't a school day id be able to go in the morning, but ill ahve to wait till after school to get it

Na it doesnt realy matter if we get it at midnight but me and Mike live in the same town and we have never met.. so i thought it would be a cool idea if we met at the Wii launch at Game if they open at midnight... where i could whoop him at Mario kart DS.. and all the other good DS games i own.

killthenet Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I need to get one from a midnight launch in order to get one on launch day. I'm going to a music festival for the weekend on the 8th of December and i'm assuming stocks will sell out pretty much instantly meaning there'll be no more shipments before Christmas, so if I didn't go to a midnight launch there's a big possibility I wouldn't get it til next year.
AshMat Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I don't think stocks will sell out, it won't be like the 360, there'll be enough.
scubahood Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I'm going to midnight launch don't really know why really but i'm sure it will be good at the time will probably go to a club before
Ramar Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Better not be a midnight release in Luton, I work Thursday night going into Friday morning.
demonmike04 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 I don't think stocks will sell out, it won't be like the 360, there'll be enough. I guess your right, they aim to ship 4 million units for launch, is that correct?
monkeyDluffy Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 its 4 million worldwide by the end of the year and 6 million by march 2007 i think, all though the 6 million sounds a bit low.
demonmike04 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 6 million by the end of the fiscal year is correct. Its good for 4 months of the consoles life.
Ashley Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I suppose they look at it finacially; is the profit going to justify the cost of staff, electricity, rent etc. So depends upon the store.
welsh_gamer Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 If I pass my driving test before the 8th, I will be taking a few from the village down to a midnight launch to get our Wii's. And after we get home, hopefully a 4-player Red Steel match  and tennis doubles of course.
Platty Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I got my gamecube at midnight from the GAME near me. I was the first one in there, still have the receipt which has the time at 00:01... Back then i thought that was really cool. If the same GAME do a midnight launch for the wii, ill be there.
demonmike04 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Thanks guys! Heres to hoping..
Charlie Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 If I pass my driving test before the 8th, I will be taking a few from the village down to a midnight launch to get our Wii's. Same with me, I need to find out where I can get it from too.....
demonmike04 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Luckily for me, my father's off work the following day so he'l stay up and drive me to and from, im sorted basicly. Im skipping school midnight launch or not.
Kav Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I'm hoping for a midnight launch near me too, there would be a few mates with me if there is, great as you've said for mario kart and metroid battles before you get the console!
demonmike04 Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Make sure you wear gloves, it'l be december so be prepared to be freezing cold..
Haden Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Make sure you wear gloves, it'l be december so be prepared to be freezing cold.. Hehhe its gonna be great a nice winter feel before getting home to some warm nintendo gaming with marshmellows!
Kazzahdrane Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 The Gamestation I work in will almost certainly be doing a midnight launch - especially since there's no PS3 this year now so it will be the only we do this year!
