Here is a plan I've been mulling over.

If you think you won't have enough cash for a Wii by launch. You could get an Argos (or any other store that will be selling it) store card, providing your old enough. They try and make people take them out all the time. You could buy the basic package for £179 on the card. And if you pay back at least £20 a month you can be done within just over 9 months (interest taken into account)

I don't think you can. He said he would charge you on December 1st IRC...

Keep waiting for a areply, I've emailed him about something totally different so I'm waiting too :heh:

It is, but they also have branches in Ireland.

Are 'Gamestops' good? The American site (which i've used once) ships to the UK and aren't that bad at all!

I ive in Malta - I find it strange how they offer free courier shipping to all of EU - with courier shipping I understand UPS, FEDEX, DHL and those are hardly cheap - I hope there is not a catch!

You would get 6 months interest free if you spent £195 on an Argos card, 3 months interest free on over £95... you have to be 18 and have at least a part time job. But be warned, interest is around 28% if you dont clear the balance before your interest free time is up.

... although i work for argos and getting argos card sign ups is one of our store targets i dont for a second recommend them if your not good with money. I got my tv on one so they are usefull, but if i missed paying it off by even one day past the interest free time i would be charged 28% interest from the FULL amount which can be a lot. I'm just providing info not trying to sell them btw

are play really that bad at posting for launch day? I've heard plenty of good reports from people who ordered their xbox 360 from them and got it from day one.hmmm...now im unsure what to do!

I think I'll try n pre-order from GAME to be honest. They're trustworthy; and I'd rather not be worrying about when the post's gonna get here; whether I'll be in and other stuff; just have to pay an extra £5 for busfair to pick it up from town :P

Gamestation started pre-orders THIS weekend.

GAME are a little slow off the mark, I got an e-mail on the 15th saying theyre formulating the preorder process and blah blah. Wait...I might have it here...

Nintendo has today announced that its eagerly-anticipated Wii console will launch in the UK on 8th December 2006 - just in time for the Christmas season!

Visit our brilliant new Wii Hub to learn all about Wii

We're still formalising the process for preordering Wii - but rest assured as Europe's leading games specialist your best chance to grab a Wii will be with GAME - as soon as we're able to take preorders on hot new Wii consoles, games and accessories, we'll let you know!

Again, this was on the 15th, by now, Id of thoughts pre-orders would have started, AND you get double points on all hardware AND software...so with the Wii and Zelda alone, you're looking at lots of money on your precious GAME card.

I think EPlay are doing preorders too, they seem to be the most Nintendo friendly place around Oxford, the area I live in...theyre ALL fanboys! Anyway, yeah...I think I'll preorder from GAME, I plan to go on Friday :)

They're slow off the mark, as you put it, because they are waiting to know their stock allocation, rather than going around willy nilly :p

This is true, but again, Gamestation for some reason advertised they were to start taking preorders this weekend, as in starting from 16/9. Im not sure if I actually believe this for instore pre-orders though. I guess we'll never know that the time has passed, but hey, I can at least keep people posted come Friday as to if Ive been able to preorder anywhere.

They can pre-order all they want. Its not a guarantee that everyone will get one. Happened with the 360.

I prefer the Belfast branch of Gamestop to GAME without a doubt, much friendlier and generally better offers and prices. Sorry if anyone from the Donegall Arcade branch of GAME posts here, but I've generally found them to be ignorant wankers.

I preordered a Wii from my GameStation this weekend, and I was 8th on their list. I'd assume that they'd get at least eight machines in on launch day, so I'm pretty confident I'll get it on day one, as was the shop assistant who served me.

Yeah this is what i thought, i'm third. So surely they will get 3?

Just found this quote from Eurogamer:

However, Yarnton was unable to elaborate on the "reasonable proportion" of units he expects for his own territory, stating: "At this stage we haven't broken it down into territories yet because of the timing and also production." Yarnton confirmed that Nintendo UK plans to hold meetings with retailers in "mid-October" by which time it expects to have more concrete territory-specific information.

So if this is the case then we wont be able to pre-order for a while with Gameplay or Game as they said they want to see how many units they will recieve before they allow pre-ordering to start. Am I right in thinking this?

Are the 4million consoles already produced if this is the case, then maybe they are trying to find how many more units they will have. Depends on the amount of regions as well I want them to concentrate on the uK and Ireland, and maybe france and germany and thats it, all these smaller countries should have their wii's at a different date

That's easy enough for you to say, living in the UK, those 'smaller' countries probably have about the same population as the UK.

Preordered mine today from HMV, they seem to be advertising the Wii heavily, at least in stores here in Manchester whereas Game don't seem to be at all.

Also, I know they have a store outside if they decide to do a midnight opening, not sure if places inside shopping centers would do a midnight launch.

Woooo!
