Gatoman Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 That's nothing like the same thing! Everyone knows Mario and Luigi worldwide and can distinguish between them as two different characters. Fire Emblem is a far less known franchise and has far less recognisable characters worldwide. Marth and Roy were similar enough for people introduced to the series through SSBM [which I'm sure was a considerable percentage]. So to put in Ike and Marth, would be like playing as almost the same character for many people. how would it be like paying the same character? in looks maybe, but the feel would be completely different! like the diference between falco and fox, I know some people who rock with falco, but can't do crap with fox and they look kinda similiar too. or what about link and young link? they look like, but they feel different, and marth and Ike are also wearing different costumes, so you could tell them apart, the biggest simularity is the color

The only similarities I see are the hair color and anime face. The rest is very different. In fact, I think Zelda and Peach are more similar than Marth and Ike. About today's update, nice to see Electrode come back with a new facial expression.
Zelda_Rulez Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Smart Bomb This familiar item is from the Star Fox series. Those who have played those games can imagine how this bomb explodes. Throw the Smart Bomb, Fox! Don’t get caught in the explosion, Fox! Hurry, Fox! Run! This fearsome item practically covers entire stages in a massive, engulfing explosion. It’s best to try to use it in a spot that leaves few places for enemies to flee. Or something like that. It does seem that they occasionally fail to explode. You might throw it, only to watch it not detonate. In those cases, you’ll want to be careful, because you never know when it might go off. Speaking of duds, certain Pokémon that explode also sometimes fail to detonate. Pssssssst.
If you brawl for a long time, there is one thing you will definitely start to think: "What can I do to polish up my skills?" For that, I’ve brought back the training mode to help you get to know the characters. At first glance, nothing about this screen seems unusual. Bothersome displays are hidden at first. The settings screen appears when you pause the game. Oh! There it is! You can produce lots of items. You can put in three computer opponents, and jack their damage meters way up. And you can see how much damage different combos do. You can even put it in slow motion. (But... you can’t tell that from a screenshot!) You need to know the moves, whether you’re trying to hit with them or avoid them – this is especially true of Final Smashes. This mode is particularly helpful with that.
Nice update, although there's nothing new except for the football, I think it's the one from Animal Crossing.
MindFreak Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Hm. I think the explosion for that bomb is too wide.
Guest Jordan Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Hah, new item in the training update too. A football. Shame it isn't the one from Mario Strikers Charged
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 How the hell is Metaknight unbalanced? Sure he can combo, but considering he has NO finishing moves apart from his up+B and final smash (which must be comboed into because it has next to no reach), i think it's pretty fair to say he's balanced enough. Also, with good DI, people will get out of his combos. I was just of the impression from hands-ons that Meta Knight was very unbalanced. I read on the smashboards (http://smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=121329) that Meta-Knight isn't as overpowered as seems, I think he's just one of the more easy to use characters. His Final Smash is also more difficult to connect so that balances stuff out a bit as well. I hope that is the case. It also explains why I got that impression.
Zell Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Yay for Electrode's return. I loved picking them up and lobbing them at people, even if it sometimes meant my demise.
Jonnas Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 You could pick up Electrode? Supposedly, you could. I never managed to do it, though.
Tellyn Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 In relation to the football item in the new update, how great would it be if it made characters pull off a Mega Strike as a kind of Final Smash, as seen in Mario Strikers, and the fighters have to dodge an on-slaught of footballs.
Deathborn Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 Seeing the ball, I'd love to see a volleyball mini-game like the one in Tekken 3 (I think).
Zelda_Rulez Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 You could pick up Electrode? Yeah, just wait until he's almost black (just about to explode) and then you can pick him up and throw him. If you try it earlier it doesn't work.
darksnowman Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 You could pick up Electrode? News to me too. That football could just as easily be from Nintendogs as anything else.
Ten10 Posted November 20, 2007 Posted November 20, 2007 I often would pick electrode up but then blow myself up or everyone else along with me. You really don't have much time to throw it.
Gatoman Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 what's that ball mario's throwing? smoke ball
ReZourceman Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Awesome! Six colours each! Metroid Fusion colour looks soooo cool. I hope there is SMG red star power up Mario colour.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Cool colours. It seems they've been more original with the alternate constumes this time around.
The-chosen-one Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 yes finally dark link this the coolest alternate costume so far http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fnP-pst2L8 i also found this video of smash bros look at 7:30 you see a new video where bowser appears
Petey Piranah Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Th-those... I’ve seen those before somewhere... Is there any hidden meaning with this comment and picture?
Ten10 Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 Is there any hidden meaning with this comment and picture? Yes think of the pokemon games. Ash's hat and I think in emerald they had that green bandana. And I didn't play Diamond and pearl so maybe the goggles comes from there.
Marthuser Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 I think he might be referring to the goggles Pikachu is wearing. Pichu used to wear those in Melee.
Serebii Posted November 21, 2007 Posted November 21, 2007 The colours that Pikachu is also match the lighter tints that Pichu had
