Falcon_BlizZACK Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I agree, this will be the game of the generation, no doubt about that. Everything is looking good. Cram it full with as much as possible I say - we only get this every 5 years! With loads of things (plus ofcourse the wifi), I can see myself playing this till the next Smash Brothers. And to think, we'll probably be getting this in about 3-5 months time! 2 Months if you getting the Japanese version...(remember, the Japanese version of Melee had an English language option, maybe this will too). Oh and yes, Team Sonic for Smash...Just minus the fox, the pink hedgehog, Robotnik, "Cream" (LOL) and maybe Silver...Though I like his psychic abilities. So thats Sonic, Shadow and Knuckles please.
darksnowman Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Whats with all the Diddy Kong hatred I see up there?? He's a great character as are all those guys from the DKC games... right the way through from the Family Kong down to the lowliest Kremling, Rare made some great characters with loads of, er, character. I just wish Nintendo would put them all to use a bit more... something like Funky Kong's Surfs Up! has potential... I said this a while ago defending the Donkey Kong Klan, since then I've remembered the relative calamity that was DK 64... Lanky Kong is by far the worst Kong in existence. He was like a Kazooie rip-off, and I didn't like B-K or DK 64 for being like Banjo. I'm only letting Tiny Kong and Chunky Kong off for now because Lanky really is that bad. And for the record, Sonic will be in Brawl.

Fruitgun Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I hope he's not, but I think he will be in it. If that makes sense... Just put me in the Sonic will be in Brawl bit
Cube Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I don't think they'll announce him until after Mario & Sonic is out in the US.
Goron_3 Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I don't really care about sonic in smash tbh. Give me Krystal anyday!
Gizmo Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I don't think they'll announce him until after Mario & Sonic is out in the US. Blatantly this.
Tellyn Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I agree with Cube, Mario and Sonic's selling point is that it's the first game starring both company mascots.
Jonnas Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 BUT.... Does anyone else get a tiny bit worried that they could be putting TOO much into the game? All these moves and giant smashes, and assist trophey's! I mean, I worry every fight will just be absolute chaos and not require lots of skill. This is a tiny worry and with no foundation, but occassionaly it corsses my mind. Melee wasn't too chaotic. Even with the items on Mid, the confusion was controllable. What I'm really wishing for though, is the possibility to remove the Crates/Barrels/Capsules. It sucks when I'm trying to have a "Pokéballs only" match and the Crates/Barrels/Capsules get in the way. Regarding Sonic, I'd like him in, as well as Megaman. But i'd be willing to sacrifice these characters if all of the following make the cut: King Dee Dee, Ridley, Generic/Main Character in Animal Crossing, Krystal, King K Rool, Little Mac and Captain Olimar. About Sonic, you can put me in the "Yes" list. Sonic is an icon. Just because his games have declined over the years, you can't ignore the classics. If there are more references to his new games than the old ones, I'm against it, of course. But since SSBB is 2D, I trust he will fight like in the classic games. With that said, If I had to choose between Sonic and Muddy, I would choose Muddy in an instant. (Come on Muddy! Resetti is out of the way, you're the only mole who can do this!) Sakurai sure seems to like Snakes ass... Sorry, It's badly photoshopped, but I couldn't resist.
Dante Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 From another board: Snake: So who's the guy with the sword? Colonel: He's named Ike, Snake. Snake: Ike, huh. He looks pretty strong, but not very smart. Colonel: Whether or not he's smart isn't going to matter if he hits you with that sword. Snake: Yeah. Looks like I better watch out for that. Colonel: Have you ever tried wielding a sword before, Snake? Snake: Let's just say they're not my style. Snake: There's some guy in green here. Otacon: Snake, that's...uhm... Snake: Well? Who is it? Otacon: I'm looking, Snake, but I see no data on this guy at all! Snake: No data? How is that even possible? Otacon: Oh, here's something. He's Mario's brother. That's all we know. Snake: Hm. Have to appreciate someone so shrouded in mystery. Mei Ling: Snake, don't hit that woman! Snake: She's attacking me with a turnip! I have to fight back! Mei Ling: Yeah, but she's the princess of the Mushroom Kingdom. I can't even imagine how many secret service agents will be all over you if you attack her. Snake: What on earth is a princess doing here?! Mei Ling: Intel says she's looking for another castle. Colonel: That's Captain Falcon, Snake. Snake: Captain? Did he serve? Colonel: No, he's a racer with the F-Zero circuit. Snake: What on Earth is a racer doing here? Colonel: He's also a bounty hunter. It seems he's looking for someone. Snake: That doesn't make much sense, Colonel. Colonel: Whatever you do, Snake, don't show him your moves.
Hellfire Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Colonel: Whatever you do, Snake, don't show him your moves. lolol awesome stuff
Dyson Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Colonel: Whatever you do, Snake, don't show him your moves. Rofl, that was awesome.
Mokong Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 I was just thinking... how about a Ouendan (Elite Beat Agent) character in the game? And for their final smash move some number buttons appear on screen and you have to hit as many as possible with the wiimote pointer, the more you get the more powerful the move Oh and put me in the "Sonic will be in this game" list Once "at the Olymics" is out, he'll likely be annouced in this soon after... i mean they'd be MAD not to get Sonic
Petey Piranah Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Put me on the list for Sonic in Brawl. Although I remember reading an interview earlier this year about Mario & Sonic and in it, he was asked whether Sonic was in Brawl, he said something along the lines of "thats not on the cards at the moment", perhaps the stance is changed but given the novelty of the olympics game being the 1st game to feature both characters in the same game, as mentioned above, would Sega really approve to having Sonic in Brawl, wouldn't it just be detremental to sales of that game, or would it a clever marketing plan, where the day of its release or the day before, he is announced for Brawl.

Because that's what they do. They assist people. Put me on the list for Sonic in Brawl. You know, that's a very believable theory. They don't announce Sonic for Brawl yet because they want to improve the sales of the Olympic game (the crossover thing being its main selling point). After the initial rush with the game and the sales figures are in, they announce Sonic as a playable character for Brawl. The game will sell well regardless of its inclusion, so it's a smart move to promote the game that doesn't have the guaranteed success. Not that I know much about marketing and advertising, but it seems like a smart move from their part.

Imagine if they don't announce him at all, and you'll be sittin' there playin' SSBB, and then all of a sudden, "A new challenger comes!" that would be sooo hilarious
killer kirby Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Put me on the list for Sonic in Brawl. Putting Sonic in brawl will mean more people will say 'THEY SHOULD HAVE SONIC IN MARIO KART AS WELL!!!!!!!" "HE SHOULD BE IN EVERY MARIO GAME ZOMG!!!!" Heck more characters deserve it more then Sonic. Sonic already has a game with mario, we don't need him in another game only a couple of weeks away from Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games. I still think that characters that have not been in a mario game should be in SSBB
Petey Piranah Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 This could also be a possibility. Remember the Captain Olimar trophy and how you needed a save file of Pikmin on your memory and the next time you turned on Smash Bros Brawl you unlocked the trophy? Well how about, in order to acquire Sonic as a playable chararacter in Brawl, you MUST have a save file of Mario & Sonic at the olympics on your console. This way it'd encourage sales of both games. To get that megaton character, you'd be more likely to buy Mario & Sonic. This would be a good way of maximising Segas chance of reaching 5 million unit sales of Mario & Sonic while being of benefit to Nintendo and Hal Laboratories at the same time. Its a win-win situation for all. Anyone that wants Sonic in their copy of the game, can purchase Mario & Sonic at the Olympics, anyone that doesn't want Sonic in their copy of the game, simply don't buy the game. I can just see it now, save file, you turn on Brawl, straight away you have the flashing screen "A New Challenger" and you see Sonics silouette and then it takes you straight to the character select screen, where you duel him on a classic Sonic stage, beat him and hes your to play... ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Co-op Play (For Adventure Mode) Confirmed! I will announce this right here, right now. In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, you can also play with two players simultaneously! Congratulations! It’s co-op play! So, whether you’re siblings or close friends, two can play together. Of the two, one will be the protagonist. Essentially, the camera follows the protagonist, so the other player has to keep up. Player 2 is kind of like another option. Basically, it is the same as a standard Smash brawl, so if you take damage and get knocked off the screen, you lose a life. However, this mode features a space jump that allows Player 2 to return to where Player 1 is even after getting left off the screen. If Player 2 gets separated from Player 1 by the screen scroll, he or she will quickly space jump back to Player 1's side. But, if Player 2 gets knocked off the screen by an enemy, that counts as a lost life. You just come back naturally. The Subspace Emissary has the following map screen. This is the map! The protagonists form teams based on the developments in the story, and the characters they encounter join their team. Choose a team and enter a stage. Your stock count, or the number of lives you can lose, is set for each stage. In single-player mode, each time you lose a life, you switch to a different character on your team and are revived as that new character until you run out of stock lives. (You choose the character order for your team members at the start of each stage.) In co-op mode, when either player 1 or player 2 loses a life, that player will be revived as another team member until your stock count runs out. But, if Player 1 loses a life after the stock count has run out, that’s the end! Player 2 is participating simply as an optional player, so be careful. By the way, you can also choose the difficulty level. From Easy to Intense! If you choose Easy, it will be quite easy indeed, so we definitely want people who aren’t very good at this type of game to give it a try! Even they will be able to make it to the ending. But, if you choose a harder difficulty, your rewards will be greater. That’s another part of the fun. And... There’s a method for powering yourself up as needed to do battle with the Subspace Army—a method that has not been seen before. I’ll explain this in great detail another time.

No, everybody does not win. Some people who don't want Sonic will still buy M&S, some people who do want him will still not buy it. People who don't want him will still play against him online.
Helmsly Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Todays update is just so good. Just when you think this game couldnt get any better...it does! This could also be a possibility. I think that's probably the best way to put Sonic in Brawl. I really hope he is in though, Miyamoto mentioned them wanting Sonic in Brawl since before Melee's release.
