Gaijin von Snikbah Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 I think the original Super Mario World Yoshi art is still the best around. His nose looks much more natural.
Kazzahdrane Posted July 24, 2007 Posted July 24, 2007 His nose is seriously screwed up in this Brawl model, it looks like they just had the nose to add and got the work experience guy to do it who's just learned to great a sphere in Maya.
Petey Piranah Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Update = Skyworld Behold the Kid Icarus stage! You can go ahead and call it Pit’s home turf if you like. From a distance you can see the temple and its surroundings. The floor’s crumbling construction makes it easy to shatter... It feels great to break it! Not having a floor does increase the danger factor, though. Why? Because it’s a long way down, that’s why! Look out below! Mastering this element is one key to gaining the upper hand. The floor quickly regenerates, so it’s important to keep your eyes on it.
Zelda_Rulez Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Looks like a good stage. The floor crumbling makes it a bit more hectic, but I hope it doesn't go too fast.
Jonnas Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Ok.I like this stage. Cool idea not seen in melee (or any other fighting game for my knowledge). I'm definetely using Jigglypuff in this stage.
Ginger_Chris Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Definitely a good stage for characters that can stay in the air for a long time. Nice that its advantageous to play as a character on his own stage.
Goron_3 Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 OMG what an awesome update. Not only does that screen shot look gorgeous, but DK still has his spike attack That level will be so good for fox with his shine , and jiggs too.
Letty Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Link looks a little weird in that screenshot... He looks more like his Melee model than the Brawl one.
ViPeR Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 Hmm I like the concept but I can see it being a race to destroy the platforms to get cheap kills. Depends how fast they regenerate I guess.
Shino Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I love the background! Just look at those clouds! Reminds me of SoA.
Guest Stefkov Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I want to play Melee again.. What happens if all the platforms break? Seems like playing on that level won't last long.
pedrocasilva Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I want to play Melee again..What happens if all the platforms break? Seems like playing on that level won't last long. they get back after a while.
Petey Piranah Posted July 25, 2007 Posted July 25, 2007 I assume characters making contact with the platforms are the only way they'll break and that items landing on them from the sky will not... Although the stage may appear boring to some at first, this appears to be a rather interesting stage... Lots of aerial combat and will force people to move around instead of just waiting in the corner and playing defensive style, with Roy in particular using his A and B smash move...
Zelda_Rulez Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Footstool Jump What is a Footstool Jump?! Well, it’s a cool technique. Basically, you step on your opponent and jump off! That’s it! Jump! Now press the jump button with perfect timing... Boing! And then you jummmmmmmmp! Using your enemy’s spine like a spring to launch yourself into the air is pretty fun. What? You say it doesn’t have much strategic value? No, no, no. That’s hardly the case. You can use it to perform Meteor Smashes! Incredible! ___________________________________________________ This looks like a cool technique, especially the way you can use it as a Meteor Smash!
Serebii Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 So thats what Yoshi was doing to Donkey Kong the other day :p
Guest Jordan Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Excuse me fo my ignorance, but whats a meteor smash?
Cube Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Excuse me fo my ignorance, but whats a meteor smash? Hitting people downwards (Down-A attack). We saw Donkey Kong doing one yesterday. Yoshi's saddle/shell things seems a bit loose. Still, I love that there's even more interactivity with characters.
Goron_3 Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 HOLY SHIT you can meteor smash with it It's really obvious they are trying to make it easier to play this game competitively now; it runs slower, aerial combos are easier to do and now this. Excuse me fo my ignorance, but whats a meteor smash? It's an attack that sends you opponent directly down. If you go play Melee and watch the 'how to play video', Mario does it to Bowser with his 'f-air' attack. Some attacks however aren't Meteor Smashes but Spike attacks. The difference? Well, when you hit an opponent with a meteor smash, they have 15 frames of a second to get out of it (so instead of going straight down, they can jump out to safety ). This is known as 'meteor cancelling'. With Spike attacks, it is impossible to jump/recover until the hitlag ends (and at high %'s you kinda fucked lol). Hope i made sense cos i'm hungover lol. Also nice to see you back Jordan. Hope you're settling down well.
Guest Jordan Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Also nice to see you back Jordan. Hope you're settling down well. Heh, thanks.
ViPeR Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Soooo can you still do meteor smashes with down and A aswell? I assume so. I always found it extremely satisfying pulling one off as someone was trying to get back to the stage, especially with a hard to time one like Ganon/Captain Falcon. It was a hard move to pull off though so I guess this'll allow pretty much anyone to do it.
Ellmeister Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I'm a little bit confused... are they saying you can jump off of them and then do a meteor smash straight away?
Patch Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 I think it means that jumping on their head automatically does a Meteor Smash. Assuming your opponent is in the air.

At first, before the update, I thought that was the new Hyrule Temple. hopefully we'll still get a Hyrule Temple (even as a classic stage?), but that place still looks awesome. Cannot wait.
DCK Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 Footstool Jump = awesome! They're really renewing the gameplay on this one!
Guest Stefkov Posted July 26, 2007 Posted July 26, 2007 That new update is ace. Can't wait to send Mario down. See how that dude likes it.
