EEVILMURRAY Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 I'm here, The Don, asking the community for some suggestions on a few DVD's a may purchase. Mainly so I can get the saver delivery, but if not. No big loss. At present my basket has: Die Hard with a Vengeance, Con Air, The Rock. Now I'm thinking of getting something along the same lines etc etc etc [perchance face/off, Broken arrow].. here's the current collection thus far: Family Guy season one. Family Guy season two. Family Guy season three. Fight Club. Scrubs season one. Scrubs season two. The Shield season one. The Shield season two. Beyblade discs 1-7. Pokémon 4Ever. Neon Genesis Evangelion discs 1-6 Neon Genesis Evangelion special editions, the last two. Neon Genesis Evangelion: The End Of Evangelion. Princess Mononoke. Excel Saga disc one. Metropolis. Spirited Away. Dungeons & Dragons volume one. The best of Knight Rider. X-Men 1. X-Men 2. Red Dwarf season 2. American Pie. American Pie 2. American Pie: The wedding. Stargate. Road Trip. Old School. The Full Monty. Home Alone. Hiome Alone 2. Reservoir Dogs. The Transporter. Gone In 60 Seconds. Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Mean Machine. Snatch. Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters 2. Die Hard. The Tuxedo. The Parent Trap. Freaky Friday. Mean Girls. Maverick. The Three Musketeers. Fierce Creatures. Lee Evans XL Tour. Monty Python and The Holy Grail. Lord Of The Rings Trilogy. Man In The Iron Mask. Casanova [bBC1 Drama.] The Mummy. The Mummy Returns. The Scorpion King. I noticed the Robocop trilogy going for just over £16, so been thinking about that. Anything? EDIT: Quick question I couldn't be arsed to scan the news comments for neither question nor answer. With the name "wii" coming out. Will the site name be changed?
Platty Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Get these: Idle hands Sin City Layer Cake Paycheck Butterfly Effect Domino Serenity The Goonies A Clockwork Orange I have more suggestions but dont want you spending too much. As for the name change we are not sure yet. AMN have purchased Wii-europe.com so we may just have a re-direct rather than a total change, who knows? im not in charge.
Bowser57 Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Just get the first Robocop, having all three you might be tempted to try watching the sequels. It'd just spoil it. I haven't read the list too closely, but Fargo and Donnie Darko are both good. Basically anything ending in "O". Oh, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (but again, just the first one). And the boxed sets of The Sopranos, most excellent.
Ormingstoke Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Firefly Serenity Another Red Dwarf Family Guy Season 4

I didn't mind the sequels to Robocop and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Well.. Turtles 3 did blow. I've not seen Fargo but I'd rather rip out my balls than own Donnie Darko.
gaggle64 Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Road to Perdition - Jude Law gets shot! In the face! Rumble in the Bronx - UNKLE! You ca! Argggh! You all gabage! Family Guy: Stewie Griffin:The Untold Story - Stewie snaps a mans kneck. Funny AND disturbing. Laputa:Castle in the Sky - Basically Skies of Arcadia the film - only better.
Mundi Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Personally i would recomend: Natural Born Killers Boondock Saints Any Quentin Tarantino movie (Except Jackie Brown i didn´t like it much) Cabin Fever Shawn Of The Dead Bad Taste Bang Bang your dead! Four Rooms Can´t thing of anything else propaly add something later
triforcemario Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Sky Captain and The World of Tomorrow is definatly a must have, Dodgeball is also good.... oh, don't forget Akira!
Ormingstoke Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 SOUTH PARK SERIES'!!! The Region 1 releases of these are much better, better packaging, picture quality and special features. And they're up to season 7, whereas only seasons 1-4 are available here. Apparently the R2 DVD rights have been bought again, and seasons 1-4 will be rereleased (assumingly with the same material as R1) before continuing with season 5 onwards.
Supergrunch Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 American dad season 1. And if I were you, I wouldn't bother buying the family guy movie; it's about as good as a normal episode (so still very funny), but I'd only watch it once.
Athriller Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. On The Waterfront. Taxi Driver. Blow.
Sarka Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 If you have Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, why not Howl's Moving Castle? Seems logical?
Monopolyman Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 The James Boind collection Pulp Fiction 12 Angry Men The Usual Suspects Jacob's Ladder Donnie Darko Kill Bill (Both! (although you'd probably know it'd be daft to buy one and not the other)) Glengarry Glen Ross Toy Story 1&2 Dog Day Afternoon Airplane The Godfather Trilogy The Killing Fields Goodfellas Dollars trilogy Once upon a Time trilogy Infernal Affairs trilogy Oldboy L.A. Confidential Trainspotting Sin City The Warriors Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Munich (when it's out) Wayne's World boxset and possibly The Sting As for TV, I'll agree with Bowser57 on The Sopranos. Very good. Oh, and The Prisoner Hope that helps.
Cube Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 I reccommend: (oh and have you checked play.com?) Firefly Serenity Futurama 1-4 Star Wars 1-6 (or wait for the complete box set) Lord of the Rings trilogy Extended Editions War Of The World Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Ware-Rabbit Sahara King Kong (Peter Jackson's)

Apparently the R2 DVD rights have been bought again, and seasons 1-4 will be rereleased (assumingly with the same material as R1) before continuing with season 5 onwards. Yeah; I have noticed that the picture qulity isn't the best sometimes. Maybe we sould just get copies of the Region 1 DVDs inc. the packaging?!
Haver Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Oh, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (but again, just the first one) Bollocks. that is to say, you are full of
EEVILMURRAY Posted April 28, 2006 Author Posted April 28, 2006 If you have Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away, why not Howl's Moving Castle? Seems logical? It would be logical, if Howl's Moving Castle wasn't a crusty piece of shit of a movie
BeerMonkey Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Saw 1 + 2 all the films starring jim carrey final destination phone booth
Bogbas Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 It would be logical, if Howl's Moving Castle wasn't a crusty piece of shit of a movie But still better than some that have been recommended... But it's a matter of opinion so I don't try to argue. Annyhow if you're into tv series get Macgyver, The pretender (damned 4th season isn't released yet...) and maybe JAG. Which reminds me of one movie that for some reason hasn't been recommended; Top Gun
gaggle64 Posted April 28, 2006 Posted April 28, 2006 Top Gun - I'll never be quite able to scrub that delirious, sweaty, half-naked beach ball scene from my mind. Also: Edward Scissor Hands
Flaight Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 I used to be a film buff about a decade ago. Now I rarely buy DVD movies. I've moved onto more quirky area, particularly comedy. Like My Family series DVD, Monty Python collection, The Vicar of Dibley etc. Probably not your thing.
Noodleman Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 lack of season 3 of scrubs and season 4 of family guy there.
EEVILMURRAY Posted April 29, 2006 Author Posted April 29, 2006 Since that list has been compiled I have bought Season 3 of Scrubs [for a sexy £20], and as for family guy my flatmate... aqcuired them from the Newsgroups.
