Ellmeister Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Can you connect the Xbox to Freeview in any way? Duct tape?
Shorty Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Well Freeview is, I belive, specific to what comes from your standard aerial, so no. But it does have iPlayer, 4OD, Demand 5 as well as Sky Player, Netflix and Lovefilm.
Ellmeister Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 All of which you need to have Xbox live for. So you pay a fee to watch Sky, Netflix and Lovefilm which you also have to pay for ¬_¬
Aimless Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 The PS3's PlayTV might be of interest, Ashley. I suspect you could get a Freeview tuner for PC and then watch it on your Xbox via Media Centre. That's probably a bit too deep into "can't be arsed" territory, though.
S.C.G Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 @Ashley as Aimless suggested PlayTV is most likely to provide what you're after, I've had it for many years and it's very good for what it is.
Shorty Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 All of which you need to have Xbox live for. So you pay a fee to watch Sky, Netflix and Lovefilm which you also have to pay for ¬_¬ That's one way of looking at it. But I see it more that those are bonuses for an online gaming service. Nobody buys XBL Gold just for Netflix. You have a Sky account which you can watch on your sky box, Lovefilm/Netflix which you can watch on your PC, an Xbox Live Gold account just gives you another way to watch them. Xbox Live Gold can be found for as little as £1/month. I pay more than that for a VPN just to extend my Netflix to US shows. Heck, I pay more than that in electricity to watch it on any device. My TV license is also more expensive.
jayseven Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 Conversely, I've been without XBL for nearly three months now? I've never really played much online because I tend to get games after the hype's calmed down, and my achievement whoring mechanism tends to filter out online achievements. I'm probably not getting the most out of my games this way, but then that's kinda why I pay bottom dollar for teh games in the first place - so I don't have to feel guilted into playing them more than I want to. Except the MGS HD collection... Borrowed Duke Nukem Forever, and... yeah. It's duke, alright, but it's just horribly dated in the wrong ways. I can live with the turn-of-the-century FPS mentality of "MUST HAVE CAR BITS AND ON RAILS BITS AND BITS OF EVERYTHING BITS", with the linear levels and with the slaloming difficulty curve that spikes at odd moments. It's the loading which gets me the most! However, I'm probably barely into the game - just come out of the Lady Killer casino, fought a massive dude in a 'pit' and am shortly after a scripted moment. Also have Fallout 3 to hand, so after DNF and MGS3 it's back to the wastelands. Kinda annoying that i won't have the DLC here!

That's probably a bit too deep into "can't be arsed" territory, though. It is indeed the kind of thing I'm after but my stepfather wants it as he wants to get an Xbox to play online with his son. Cheers guys
nightwolf Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 All of which you need to have Xbox live for. So you pay a fee to watch Sky, Netflix and Lovefilm which you also have to pay for ¬_¬ iPlayer is free I believe. Purely because of the same reason you're talking about, they want to push for other programs not to have to pay a fee to Microsoft to use their program - maybe in the future?
Hero-of-Time Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Former Rare employee, Don Murphy, talks about working for RARE. http://www.notenoughshaders.com/2012/08/21/donnchadh-murphy-chats-about-rare/ Quite a good interview. I didn't even know about that Donkey Kong Country 4 rumour.
nightwolf Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 That's a pretty good interview, though, correct me as I'm probably very, very wrong here, but surely he would have signed a bucket load of papers with Rare to ensure he didn't talk about this even after he left? For example, I know I still can't speak about stuff I saw at Jagex?
Hero-of-Time Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I started playing Lollipop Chainsaw yesterday and it's been quite enjoyable so far. It reminds me of Dead Rising mixed with MadWorld. Some of the achievements are hilarious as well, I mean you get one for trying to look up her skirt. Gameplay wise it's all about combos and the finishing zombies off with your chainsaw. I imagine you get higher scores for bigger combos but at the moment i've just been running around hacking things up without caring about such things. If you're not a fan of QTE's then this game isn't for you. There are quite a lot in the game, usually when you are controlling Nick ( headless boyfriend ) or in a boss battle. They don't bother me but I know some people detest them. The writing is pretty funny in the game. The back and forth between Nick and Juliet is hilarious at times and some of the sayings the bosses throw at make you have a cheeky grin. The game is quite perverse and it makes no effort to hide it, I mean this game has an 18 rating for a reason. There is bad language left right and centre and many a rude comment flying around. I saved one guy yesterday and instead of the usual thanks you get from most games NPCs he simply said he couldn't wait to get home and masturbate over me! As I said, i'm enjoying playing it but some may find it too crude and repetitive to have fun with.
jayseven Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I've been thinking about this game since I polished off big boner. I mean -- finished playing Shadows of the Damned from Suda 51 or soda 7up orwhatevarhisnamis. That game was full of dick jokes and it sounds like the humour is exactly the same here!
Jimbob Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 If theres a demo available for Lollypop Chainsaw, i may give it a go and see what it's like. Just hope it's not like Prototype, that was repetitive beyond repetitive.
Cube Posted August 28, 2012 Posted August 28, 2012 I don't think Prototype and Lollipop Chainsaw have anything in common.
Hero-of-Time Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 So, I played some more Lollipop Chainsaw last night and came across this minigame in the main game. Yes, that is indeed the song that actually plays in the game. Honestly I was in stitches because its so random and wacky. My nephew walked in and he burst out laughing as well. This game yet
Jimbob Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I don't think Prototype and Lollipop Chainsaw have anything in common. Plus prototype was awesome. Prototype was good, but it got too repetitive for myself.

Caris Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 I've been adding a lot of people on Live as of late, as most of you have one of my old Gamertags. If I've missed anyone drop me a PM and I'll give you my current one which I've had for the past couple of year.

Caris Posted September 3, 2012 Posted September 3, 2012 Yeah I'm past my little phase of changing PSN ID's and Gamertags, I've had this one 2 years and it will be here to stay.
Shorty Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 If you change your gamertag, people don't need to re-add you, do they? It just like... changes. I hope that's the case, since I changed mine some time ago.
Cube Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 If you change your gamertag, people don't need to re-add you, do they? It just like... changes. If you spend 800 MS Points on a gamertag you won't lose anything. If you set up a new account you will.
Caris Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 No I mean create a new one not change your name.
