Ellmeister Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 My Xbox got RROD about a month ago, I turned it off, left it, came back, took game out barely, turned off and on again. Worked. Hasn't had a problem since. Still on my first xbox I bought from my mate about 8 months ago
Shorty Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Mine now says it's been repaired and has been shipped. They give you a UPS tracking number but it says can't find the item on their website. Is that normal? Should only take 2 days or so to get back to me now shouldn't it? It's normal, and also the UPS site is a bit rubbish at times for tracking. I've sat and refreshed the site before now, don't bother just wait, it'll be home in a day or two.
That Guy Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 It's normal, and also the UPS site is a bit rubbish at times for tracking. I've sat and refreshed the site before now, don't bother just wait, it'll be home in a day or two. Good good. I would probably advise anyone that gets the RRoD to send in their Xbox regardless of whether it works straight after. If you do get a hardware failure, it's very likely that it will happen again, whether it's 10 minutes later, or 10 months later. You might as well do it while it's in warranty. Also if reports are to be believed the new parts in the current 360s (and in repaired ones) are meant to be much more reliable so it's a good idea to get the new parts put in as soon as you can. :p
Shorty Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I want to but... £39.99? Tis a lil bit hefty. Just can't bring myself to spend so much on a controller when I got the last one, with a rechargable pack, for £12.
Jimbob Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I'm planning on picking some more games up soon, but first i must get round to beating a few from the past including Dirt of which i still got to beat the Career mode (the 3 rallies (global, international and local) and got a few things left to do on GTA IV before getting Lost and Damned (inc rolling a car 5 times, winning all the races and blowing up 10 cars) And then i got to beat Nuts and Bolts, Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and Prince of Persia afterwards.
nightwolf Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I still need to get round to playing my xbox, yet I have a question to ask. There apprently was an update mentioned a few pages back, I turned on my xbox for a good few hours on saturday (had a friend round) and wasn't asked for any update, I read back and it didn't seem to be a live update..what gives?
Dan_Dare Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 is it the new dashboard? you need it online to update or, failing that, plug in a HDD with an updated dash installed. ( dunno if that's permanent. Just what happened with my HDD in my mate's 360)
nightwolf Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 No, no new dashboard on, I was just told I'd need to update it when I turned it on.. got nada.
jayseven Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Which update mentioned on which page? :| Good news everyone! I changed my billing address, so I still have the red xbox bundle heading my way. Gleeeboogleeboogleee!
Pantsu Man! Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Is there a way for me to stop microsoft being robbing bastards and not renewing my Xbox live automatically but not phoning them? I can't be bothered being charged to call them for them to do a few simple button pressed when all it would take is to put a button on the xbox website saying 'Do no renew automatically'...
That Guy Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 My Xbox has finally be shipped, says in transit now on the UPS website. Only problem is now it's being delivered to my home address, despite putting a return address on the side of the fecking box. I phoned UPS when it said 'billing info received' and they told me Microsoft would have to change it, so I phoned them only to be told it had left and I had no option... They even tried to tell me it was picked up from my house, which was utter bullshit. Should UPS be able to change it to my work address? Cos no one will be in on Thursday. I'm fucking sick of delivery companies. Don't they realise people fecking work?
Shorty Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I think you'll be able to change it if you ring UPS, you can even tell them a time to deliver between. When I got RRoD this week I was almost glad. In fact, I would quite like an RRoD. I'd get some work done, and a free month of live gold for SFIV....
The fish Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Is there a way for me to stop microsoft being robbing bastards and not renewing my Xbox live automatically but not phoning them?I can't be bothered being charged to call them for them to do a few simple button pressed when all it would take is to put a button on the xbox website saying 'Do no renew automatically'... I had the same issue just before coming to Uni. Ringing them up is actually really quick, took about 2 minutes for me, and that included a load of questions about "couldn't I give it to a friend whilst I was at Uni", and so on and so forth.

Go to xbox.com and sign in. Go to account information. Go to payment options. Click remove credit card. Sorted
Pantsu Man! Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 I've already tried that option and got 'This payment option cannot be removed at this time. It might be associated with an active subscription.' Guess I'll ring them soon.
Illusionary Posted March 4, 2009 Posted March 4, 2009 Should UPS be able to change it to my work address? Cos no one will be in on Thursday. I'm fucking sick of delivery companies. Don't they realise people fecking work? I'm afraid not. I was expecting something to be delivered today by UPS (though they didn't even try in the end ), but knew I wouldn't be in. When I called them last night to request a redirection, they told me that they have to try to deliver to the original address "to fulfil their contract with the shipper". After they've tried once and failed, then you can contact them to redirect it. They did say, however (after I specifically asked), that they should leave it in a 'secure' area if you leave a note (signed and dated) asking them to do so. Is this an option for you?

"hi please leave my xbox 360 behind the bin. if you are just a random passer by, please ignore this message and please do not look behind the bin"

"hi please leave my xbox 360 behind the bin. if you are just a random passer by, please ignore this message and please do not look behind the bin" I *did* say somewhere "secure" - I'm fortunate to have a decent length of drive, plus gates that can't be seen through, so it's not like the note would be seen by just anyone. Perhaps a neighbour could take delivery and then pass it on?
LegoMan1031 Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Whats your address? I just want to... keep an eye on it for u...
Hero-of-Time Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Star Ocean due in June Square Enix has announced that Star Ocean: The Last Hope will be released in Europe this June. Some reports floating round the internet say the game has been delayed, as it was originally down for "spring". But that's not the case, according to Square Enix. "The game has not been delayed," a spokesperson told Eurogamer. "We use the summer solstice on June 21st as the official start of summer, so by announcing the game will be released in June, it will still technically be released in our interpretation of spring." Star Ocean: The Last Hope is an Xbox 360 exclusive. It's a prequel to the popular role-playing space opera series, and will feature numerous gameplay advances such as the ability to control your own spaceship.
Mundi Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 Why can´we just get shit at the right time.... So it´s both Vesperia and Star Ocean this summer for us.
Hero-of-Time Posted March 5, 2009 Posted March 5, 2009 A few demos have hit Live today which are Wanted, The Wheelman and WWE Legends of Wrestlemania. I have only tried the WWE demo and I quite like it. I love the relive Wrestlemania game mode and seeing as I enjoy the Smackdown games this may have to be a purchase for me especially as you can be The Rock
