McPhee Posted June 7, 2009 Posted June 7, 2009 Retrospective on the greatest game ever. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/retrospective-earth-defence-force-2017-article And now it's out of print. Wha...? Noooooooooooooooooooooo:cry: Better get round to finding a copy soon then, got fond memories of playing that in an 8-hour drunken stint with one of my mates after a house party a while back. Everyone else went to bed, we stumbled upon a copy of EDF. Everyone else woke up and we were still playing the damn thing, 10 hours later! Bloody hilarious game and addictive to boot! Shame it didn't have online co-op, bet they'd have sold a lot more with that.
Pantsu Man! Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 http://www.find-games.co.uk/xbox360/B000OA7WZC.htm Ridiculous how I only payed £8 more when it came out. I actually re-bought it not long ago just to be able to play a game that only involved pressing a button and shooting things.
jayseven Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Been getting a bit more into Carcassone on XBLA. Does anyone fancy a friendly game or three? Give me a bell; jayseven NE is my gamertag
Cube Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Been getting a bit more into Carcassone on XBLA. Does anyone fancy a friendly game or three? Give me a bell; jayseven NE is my gamertag I don't know how to play the game, but I'll certainly give it a try.
S.C.G Posted June 8, 2009 Posted June 8, 2009 Wha...? Noooooooooooooooooooooo:cry: There are 10 copies of it on eBay right now, some only around £12 Buy-it-Now... Wait... make that 9 copies.
dwarf Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 Yeah I saw that and was like 'What!?' Thought they were releasing PS games on 360 or something.
BeerMonkey Posted June 9, 2009 Posted June 9, 2009 can you run a station and then have it continue playing while your playing games do you think?
gmac Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 can you run a station and then have it continue playing while your playing games do you think? I'd hope so otherwise I don't see the point
Hero-of-Time Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 First and foremost, the Games on Demand feature will be available in August, and will allow members to digitally download retail games instead of buying a hard copy. There will be around 30 games available in the system at launch, and will be available for purchase without the use of Microsoft Points. Users will be able to use credit cards directly to make their purchases instead of buying blocks of points. We'll have to wait and see if there are any benefits to the system, such as price breaks, because who wouldn't rather have a hard copy of a game instead of a digital copy they won't be able to get rid of if they decided to? However, a nice feature that is revealed is the fact that games can be redownloaded (even to a friend's 360), as long as you have your gamertag handy. Another key feature that will be coming to Xbox Live is one that we have been expecting for quite some time now. User ratings will allow players to rate games and DLC on a 5-star basis to show how much they enjoyed the game. This will make searching much easier, particularly in the area of Xbox Live Arcade games. Want to search for the highest rated games at the click of a button? Soon you will be able to, which will lead to less mistaken purchases of games such as Space Giraffe. There will also be a brand new Avatar marketplace, which will allow users to purchase more types of clothing, including game-based items. Not to mention, you will now be able to deck your Avatars out with new items such as a remote control Warthog. All I have to say to that is bring on some Gears chainsaws! Another feature that has finally been confirmed is unlocking Avatar items through your in-game achievements. Not only will you get gamerscore for your achievements, but now you'll unlock some nifty items for that Avatar of yours. I so hope they put the Spartan armour in the avatar store!
S.C.G Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I so hope they put the Spartan armour in the avatar store! I hope they put it in as a free unlockable with the next Halo game tbh because paying for avatar clothing seems really pointless, especially if it ends up being more than 50 or 100 microsoft points :/ you can get a whole arcade game for 400 points so to me, 100 points on some avatar clothing that doesn't really do anything sounds expensive, still I hope they make it available in the store for people who want to buy it I guess, I just think it would be better if they kept stuff like that free.
Pantsu Man! Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 The downloadable games sounds silly. You can download your games onto friends consoles if you have your gamertag. If you have your disc, you don't need your gamertag... It's one way to say to customers that your purchase is final I guess. Once you've payed and downloaded you can't trade it in or get money back. Pay for Avatar clothing? No thanks. I'll stick with the generic crap.
Jimbob Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 N:E, i have a question. I'm looking to purchase a few new games, one of them being Gears of War II. Would it be a good idea to re-buy the original before playing the new title? Also, anybody have some game recommendations for me. I like my shooters, action-adventures and stuff like that. Take a look at my gamertag for games i've played for any ideas as such. I'm stumped.
Bren Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 If youv already played gears 1 i doubt youll need a refresher, its an easy story to get back into. And shooters, Bioshock, Condemened 1, Halo, Battlefield Bad Company would be my recommendations
Jimbob Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 (edited) If youv already played gears 1 i doubt youll need a refresher, its an easy story to get back into. And shooters, Bioshock, Condemened 1, Halo, Battlefield Bad Company would be my recommendations I never actually beat the original Gears (please don't kill me) Downloading a demo of Bioshock as we speak, cheers for those recommendations Skunky Edited June 10, 2009 by Jimbob
Bren Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Ah then give it a play through then, the first's better than the second anyways :P Bioshocks a cracker of a game, such a good story, perfect game to play in a dark room alone and get lost with, its like a good book lol.
Jimbob Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 If i like Bioshock, i'll pick it up over the weekend along with the original Gears.
BeerMonkey Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 bioshock is awesome its one of my fav games on the 360
Jimbob Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Played the demo earlier and have decided to make this a purchase. Cheers for the recommendation
Tellyn Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 Turned my 360 on for the first time in over a year yesterday. Got the NXE update, which takes some getting used to but the new dashboard is a marked improvement over the last one. Avatars are also fairly cool, despite the Nintendo fanboy in me sobbing to himself whenever I lay eyes on the virtual me. Doesn't seem to be much use for them right now though. I had a few games on Halo 3, heard some Americans mocking someone on the other team and laughing profusely at their own 'jokes' ("'Ello guvnor, would you like some tea mate?" When will they learn that we don't talk like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins?), somehow I completely forgot about the joys of Xbox Live. Bought Gears of War 2 for £14.99, should be with me tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone had a 1 month trial code for Xbox Live that they would be kind enough to offer me?
Roostophe Posted June 10, 2009 Posted June 10, 2009 I shat myself when I saw Tellyn was on Xbox Live yesterday. D00d, do you actually have a decent reason for not being online in over a fugging year? Goddammit!

Goddammit! Lack of fundage to feed my gaming habits beyond one console. I have a job now, with about £100 of tax coming back to me soon, so I'm splashing out. The first thing I did was get a name change, my original Gamertag was dire. I will have a look for you, Nathan. Thanks a lot Adam!
