Cube Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Fight ClubAmerican Beauty Monty Python And The Holy Grail Watership Down Those are the ones I've seen. None come close to the greatness of Lord of the Rings. Most of the others I'll probably never watch because they don't look or sound interesting.
Slaggis Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Oxigen, I love you. :p Though I'd have Brokeback on that list aswell, I know you don't agree, but still. You've reminded me of some awesome movies! -- Cube, no offence, but just because a movie has a title that might not sound interesting, thats no reason to not see it is it? Your passing on a hell of alot of amazing movies if you do that.

Most of the others I'll probably never watch because they don't look or sound interesting. They surpass it. You see, LOTR's only flaw is the emotional attachment to humanity it lacks. But you needn't be mad at me, I fucking love LOTR. Oxigen, I love you. :p Though I'd have Brokeback on that list aswell, I know you don't agree, but still. You've reminded me of some awesome movies! Hey, those are all 10/10 movies.

Your passing on a hell of alot of amazing movies if you do that. I go from what other people tell me about them, too. Not just from the title. If I get bored of watching TV shows online, I may look into some of those movies a bit more and give them a chance. I just don't watch movies that often.
Coolness Bears Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I rate Lord of the Rings as my Favourite Films but the amount of (good) films i have seen is not that big and that list OW made higlights this fact. I have a long way to go! although i have seen a fair bit on there. I love the lord of the rings films but they are not completely flawless and i give them 6 and a half Bears out of 7
LazyBoy Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 12 Angry Men Original or remake PlatoonSolaris Really? Can I ask you why?
Oxigen_Waste Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Original or remake Really? Can I ask you why? Original, obvious. Platoon speaks for itself. And Solaris, I don't mean the remake.
Cube Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I'm not saying that the films in the list are bad or good (I know most are probably great). I just think that the 3 Lord of the Rings films, Star Wars Episodes 3, 4, 5 and 6, Casino Royale, Serenity and probably a couple more deserve to be there, too.
welsh_gamer Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Glad to see that Scarface isn't on your list O_W I like Peter Sellers, but I never liked or really understood Dr Strangelove Maybe I'll appreciate it more in 20 years time.
Mundi Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 That list reminded me on how many movies i haven´t seen that i want to see

For Star Wars and LOTR, here's my answer: 9.5. Casino Royale, a good movie for sure, worth a 10? Not. Serenity is the one where I can't give you an answer... coz I never watched Firefly, and so, as much as I liked the movie, I can't grasp it's full greatness until I do. And on it's own, without knowing the backstory, it's no 10. Glad to see that Scarface isn't on your list O_W I like Peter Sellers, but I never liked or really understood Dr Strangelove Maybe I'll appreciate it more in 20 years time. Hey, I like Scarface. It just doesn't deserve a 10. :P
LazyBoy Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Original, obvious. Platoon speaks for itself. And Solaris, I don't mean the remake. 12 Angry men, i'm all about the remake (Jack Lemmon version). Platoon i'd give an 8, maybe even a seven. It was a bit much I thought, it was almost as if the senseless violence wasn't enough. Deer Hunter i'm with you on. And Solaris, well ain't seen the original so I really can't comment. And i'd put the LoTR trilogy in the 10 group. Watching the first now actually.

Platoon is better. It's all about emotions, in Platoon. But yeah, it really is down to each person, there. Oh... and about 12 angry men, William Friedkin did a great job remaking it... and Jack Lemmon is, alongside Gandolfini, great in that.
ipaul Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 O_W I take it from that list that you have never seen The Shawshank Redemption?
Oxigen_Waste Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 O_W I take it from that list that you have never seen The Shawshank Redemption? Of course I have. Bloody fantastic movie, it is.
Mundi Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 I actually thought the same :Þ But hey i haven´t seen Shawshank Redemption yet
Slaggis Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 O_W I take it from that list that you have never seen The Shawshank Redemption? ipaul I take it from that list that you have never seen The Shawshank Redemption? It's a brilliant movie.
Roostophe Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Spirited Away Princess Mononoke Are these two really THAT good?
Oxigen_Waste Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Shawshank redemption is just as good as LOTR. Wich is pretty much saying it's fucking fantastic. It's not better, though. Are these two really THAT good? Oh yes, they most definetly are.
ipaul Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 ipaul I take it from that list that you have never seen The Shawshank Redemption? It's a brilliant movie. You have confused me I've seen it and thought it deserved a 10.
Slaggis Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 You have confused me I've seen it and thought it deserved a 10. Ignore me. I misunderstood your post. *slaps his own face*
Oxigen_Waste Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Almost there. 9.5 is a very good score, mind you.
ipaul Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Fair enough Just out of curiosity, what stops it getting a mighty 10?
Oxigen_Waste Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Fair enough Just out of curiosity, what stops it getting a mighty 10? Hmm, good question. For being unrealistic... when it's supposed to be. Why are those men in jail? Those aren't criminals, those are your neighbours.
