Hellfire Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I watched garden state!! (aimed at oxigen waste) I thought it was pretty funny, I wasn't expecting to like it (don't know why) but I did. I'm going to buy it on dvd 8/10 Heresy! Anything less than 9000/10 is a crime!
Slaggis Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Heresy! Anything less than 9000/10 is a crime! what about 8.5? :awesome: it was a great movie, which is why I'm buying it on dvd. But I gave it a great score! is that other film with zach braff any good? kiss something or other? the one with the oc girl in.
Haver Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Saw Order of the Phoenix this morning and I really enjoyed it. David Yates and the new screenwriter did a great job. Especially the first scene in the park. Ron's 'Toss-pot' got some laughs. And the Ministry scenes were great. Kudos to the set designers and CG people. And the Death-Eater costumes as well. Lots of good stuff. Watson overacts, and Sirius's death still baffles me, but yeah. Good film.

I suppose I'll see tomorrow when I go see it.

Not as good as Garden State, but good nonetheless.
Slaggis Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 The Good Girl I loved this movie. The acting was brilliant, especially from anniston. I liked the fact there were little bits of humour throughout. 8/10
welsh_gamer Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 I also saw Order of the Phoenix this morning. Loved it! Wasn't too keen on Goblet, and this lived up to the hype! So many great scenes. Noticed that Ron did not have that much screentime in this, which cheered me up. Harry's first kiss scene was done well methinks, and Umbridge was instantly hateable, which was great! Was glad that the Durlsey's were back in it aswell. Only disapointment was, that Sirius' death came a few minutes to soon. There could of had been a bit more dueling. So gonna go see it again in a few weeks! 9/10 Also saw Die Hard 4. Very enjoyable. Had me on the edge of my seat throughout. Decent plot and good one-liners. Only the jet scene was OTT in my opinion. Reminded me a lot of Die Hard 3. Anyone else think the villan looked very much like Robert Webb from Mitchell and Webb? 8/10 So happy that I saw 2 GREAT summer blockbusters today, after the disappointing Shrek and Pirates 3
Chris the great Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 looked very much like Robert Webb from Mitchell and Webb? i didn't notice, but he totaly has the same lumpy quality
bob Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Saw Harry Potter. It was good. Wizard fight near the end was awesome. Ending was v.cheesy. 7/10
Ashley Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Shortbus At the reccomendation of a few friends, and personal interest really. Not sure how to describe it. IMDB says "A group of New Yorkers get caught up in their romantic-sexual milieu converge at an underground salon infamous for its blend of art, music, politics, and carnality." Group of people (anywhere between four and eight really, depends on who you want to say is the main cast) and love, sex and relationships and exploring them through this venue, Shortbus, which is an odd mix between a bar, lounge, club, sex....place and all sorts. Not sure how to describe it. Great film. Rated 18 for a reason. There is a lot of sex and some of it is hot, but its not about sex in a pornographic kind of way, it is very pivotal and emotional. Its a fantastic film to get you thinking about relationships, love and sex. 10 (and I never give tens)

mike-zim Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Saw HP: OOP last night. Really enjoyed it. i might have to read the next book. but i dont want to spoil my enjoyment of the films. i will have to get them all on DVD.

Really enjoyed it. i might have to read the next book. but i dont want to spoil my enjoyment of the films. i will have to get them all on DVD. I really do not get it... You KNOW the books are way better and yet you do not want to read so that the movies won't suck... You do realize that they DO suck after you've read the books... so what's the point? EDIT: And you can't start reading from the 6th book onwards... you have to read all of them, or else there will be tons of characters and details that won't make any sense. You see, the movies only cover about 40% of the story.
Eddage Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 I really do not get it... You KNOW the books are way better and yet you do not want to read so that the movies won't suck... You do realize that they DO suck after you've read the books... so what's the point? What's the point in reading the books if he knows it's going to destroy something he likes, the films!? Face the fact that some people would rather watch a movie for a couple of hours than read a book - I know I would!

Face the fact that some people would rather watch a movie for a couple of hours than read a book - I know I would! Exactly. I started watching the movies before even thinking about reading the books. I now don't want to read them, and ruin my enjoyment of the movies. And hob, just because I don't want to read the book doesn't mean I, or anyone else who would rather watch the movies, can't be arsed.
Ashley Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 It's bizarre finding a fellow lover of shortbus. I think Takeo likes it too.
The Bard Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 How can you enjoy the movies though? They're horrendous...just totally embarrassingly bad
Slaggis Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 How can you enjoy the movies though? They're horrendous...just totally embarrassingly bad Well you've read the books haven't you? I enjoy em' because they're exciting, funny, grown with the characters since the first movie (like other people have with the books) and the special effects. Plus each film is a suprise for me seeing as I don' read the books. Basicall I get out of the movies, what you get out of the books.
The Bard Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Actually, the books are pretty poor too. But they're infinitely more entertaining than the movies. The movies aren't exciting, they're dull, and nobody who's in them can actually act. The only reason I've watched any of them is so I can gawp at Emma Watson for an hour and a half.

I think most of them can act now, the quality of other british actors in them is great too. Even radcliffe is learning how to act now. There just some of my favourite movies ever. I love them, though I can understand why some people don't.
mcj metroid Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 It's really the acting at times haggis. I wouln't go as far as the bard. I think with each film it's improving. i thought the first film was a piece of crap after reading each book at least 6 times each. Yes i'm a massive fan of the books and i'm impressed that they managed to create a good film out of a not so good book(OOTP) They could have been better that's all I'm saying. The action is good but the characters are crap. That's just my opinion.
Slaggis Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 about to go and see OOTP, If I don't enjoy it I will eat my Zune.
Haver Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 The Harry Potter movies are fucking great. They'd be fucking great if they were original properties too. Now X-Men 3, that is a bag of shite.
Hellfire Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 The only reason I've watched any of them is so I can gawp at Emma Watson for an hour and a half. I can't notice anything except Emma Watson.
