Pretty sure they work already?

Oh maybe not. I was sure they did. I'll look into it.

I took "alternatives" to mean blue sky of course.

Edit #2

Turns out it is added in 4.7.2. We are on 4.7.19.

4.7.2 is currently in beta.

Hopefully the full release of v4.7.20 will be soon so we can get proper integration for BlueSky.

I'm on there and I'm reposting all my various All Sonic/Trek/Bond games stuff on there alongside the N64 ones: https://bsky.app/profile/djcube.co.uk

And I occasionally post stuff on this account (including @S.C.G's recordings when I spot them): https://bsky.app/profile/n-europe.com

I do like that you can use a domain (with verification) for your username.

Edit: If anyone is interested, I added BlueSky (and Threads) as fields on your profile.

I recently had to reactivate my Facebook account as my kids school for some insane reason put half of the school updates on there. It’s a primary school and they’re posting pictures of kids, trip details, school news, I just don’t get it.

Personally I look at Instagram to keep up with friends and then Reddit for my idle browsing of stuff. I don’t have any desire to be signing up to any of these new things as ultimately they are all as bad as each other. Social media echo chambers are a huge contributor to a lot of the messed up stuff we see people doing and we’d all be better off without them.

That does seem a weird one as in this day and age there will be platforms where they could do that kind of stuff and limit access. But I guess money.

I have a Facebook but only use it for work purposes (as in the gym as I'm one of the admins for the page) and rarely use it at that. Certainly don't post any updates about myself.

I cut down Instagram to just follow less accounts a while back and so rarely post on it now. I posted twice in 2024. But likewise admin for the gym page so I'll probably keep that.

I signed up to blue sky a while back and only ever posted once but respond to others. I kind of realised I don't need to tell everyone what I'm up to or thinking because it's never that interesting anyway.

I think quite a few schools still use Facebook as their main social media site, I know the one I worked at did. I work at the moment managing the social media for the early years childcare department in a council and despite the usual talk of Facebook being for millennials like myself, we still get the most traction from it with younger parents.

I mean, I only ever use social media as a quick, painless way to get my Switch screenshots and videos on to here. The only people who would ever care about my opinion are people on here because they have somewhat similar interests.

This is the only reason I still keep Twitter. I mentioned/asked about Mastodon integration here in the suggestions thread once but it seemed to be an issue with the forum software and since it doesn't seem to be happening I may have to get Blue Sky if that is being added to the forum.

I don't and have never used any social media really. I've never got the show the world what you're doing every second of the day mentality.

If BlueSky have any sense, they'd work with console manufacturers for supporting screenshots.

Even an email option would be better than what is currently on offer for each platform. The Xbox app is almost there, but you have to download them individually.

Also, hopefully the Switch 2 saves in better quality. I was really disappointed when I looked at my screenshot of Metroid Prime Remastered, it looked so nice on my TV.

Just looked to see if there was anything about this on the software supplier's forum and all I could see was someone saying it would be nice. Can't see anything about it in the release notes for the next version either I'm afraid.

Oh they have other platforms and use them, every week its a detective game trying to work out if things will come via email, the private app they have, the website, facebook.

I suppose my main position is that there shouldn't be any social media of kids at school regardless of the audience.

At my old one they filled in forms and had to agree to it if we ever used any photos and no names or tagging. Only a few ever opted out.
