I mean, yeah. It's always been a Zelda-like in gameplay. I thought that was apparant from the start. The 2D bits play like this mostly.

I haven't followed the game intensely but I haven't seen those gameplay segments before, hence being surprised by them. I've only seen the 2D sidescrolling bits before.

Next month has filled out quite nicely by the looks of things: Astro Bot, this, Zelda, some other titles like Space Marine 2, UFO 50...okay it's filled out a good bit more than I thought it had when I started typing that list.

The next couple of months is looking pretty stacked.

Devolver have released a special video for the game revealing that it will be getting fully localised in 11 languages, including a dub in each of those languages for the game's narrator!

This is so cool! They even listed the VAs and credited those who worked on the localisations in the video description :peace:

In other news, the physical edition for the game had pre-orders go live yesterday, which are aiming for a 21st February 2025 release date:

Might be tempted to get the special edition depending on the art book. If there's actual notes, decisions etc I'd be interested but if it was just a series of screenshots and renders not so much.

Shame there's no Italian, could have claimed it as revision.

@Jonnas should be pleased :)

When I saw this mention, I wondered: could this game actually be dubbed in European Portuguese!?

It's Brazillian Portuguese 😐 It's still cool (the voice actor sounds really good, actually), but man, my hopes got way up.

Told ya, @Dcubed.

The Europe in N-Europe stands for "European Portuguese is what Jonnas wants"

Rolls right off the tongue!

A new sneak peek of the game released earlier today:

Not sure it was really needed this late on, but yeah, surprise! It still looks great :p

Video on some of the game's accessibility and control options:

A lot to customise here to your heart's content, great stuff!

I'm quite sick now. Might not be able to make the trip home today like planned.

Which means, despite releasing on a Tuesday, I might be able to play this day 1.

Silver linings, y'know? Nothing like a good bedtime story to soothe a dodgy tummy.

  • Glen-i changed the title to The Plucky Squire - Switch, PS5, Series S/X, PC

A warning for those planning on playing it on their Steam Deck.

It's also plagued by technical issues. The frame rate drops alarmingly when fighting multiple enemies, the game freezes randomly, and some levels straight up don't work on Steam Deck. The Plucky Squire never claims to be Deck Verified, but it's a game perfect for Valve's portable and it's unfortunate that the developers couldn't make it work in time for release.

I'm a bit confused by this bit...because checking Steam, it is Steam Deck verified?

And we've known for the better part of a week that it's going to be Steam Deck verified (source: Destructoid). My question is, were they playing it back when it was unverified? Or did they just somehow accidentally type that? Weird.

[EDIT: there's also this page on Steam where they even explicitly highlight the fact that the game is indeed verified for Steam Deck]

This seems like another perspective which is maybe a bit more balanced and fleshed out, they do call out several issues but a mostly consistent 30fps in a certain mode with some very noticeable frame rate drops at fixed points.

It also just doesn't sound like the other person tweaked their settings when they hit these rough spots, which is a bit odd, considering, well, that's the benefit of a PC handheld? ::shrug:

Sounds very disappointing either way, imagine it'll get patched but this does seem like it would have been the perfect type of game for the Steam Deck.
