For the sake of the new page...

N-Europe Christmas PARTAY!

Date: Tuesday 22nd December

Time: 8pm (UK Time)

Venue: Capim Town (That's my place)

Dress Code: Christmas

Party-Goers:

@Glen-i (Host)
@BowserBasher
Glen's accidental Halloween Party Crasher
@darksnowman
@Sméagol
@Sofiz
@Ugh first aid

@RedShell (Maybe)

I still need a secret santa gift from @darksnowman. You can just panic buy something from your shop if you need to, no-one will ever know.

Some things to note:

  • Now the party starts proper at 8pm (UK Time), but you should aim to get to my island a bit earlier, you all know how lenghty that animation is and we wouldn't want you all barging through that very narrow door at the same time. It also gives you time to familiarise yourself with the island layout, which will be helpful.
  • It's a good idea to craft a fresh fishing rod for the occasion. You wouldn't want it breaking at the worst moment, because it's very funny and I will point and laugh at you.
  • I'm sure everyone already has, but get the Switch online app, there's gonna be text chatting flying all over the place, and using the in-game keyboard is way too slow.

Get your outfits ready, and see you tonight!

I will send something later this afternoon. It can literally be anything? No Secret Santa cost restrictions or anything?

Just downloaded the phone app and it is even emptier than I imagined. :laughing: I think I'll be deleting it on the flight back from your island later.

Thanks for organising this!

Great fun as always, thanks @Glen-i and everyone that showed up. Considering that was the gift I sent for secret Santa, I ain’t keeping it lol. Enjoy your flower explosion tomorrow.

Your fault for putting that idea into people's heads.

You reap what you sow and all that.

Just remembered about the new transfer photo to device option, so here is a quick snap I took the other night. Tom Nook and Isabelle were overrun with us lot piling into the Townhall! :laughing:

Well, Toy Day,. Here it is at last. The only December recipes I've got so far are from the Snowboys so I'm looking forward to seeing what I can snag from Jingle to Christmas my island up a bit!

Right so I've fired this up, got my island, spoke to the Nook family aaaaaaand I don't know what to do now [emoji23]

As far as I gather, I was conned. I arrived on an island, celebrated for picking an awesome name, got a title and then he smacked it down with "oh and by the way, you're in debt to me, mwahaha" [emoji23]

I've found it quite chilling, honestly. I don't understand exactly the endgame though? How do you complete it?

(in case you didn't figure it out, never properly played Animal Crossing in my life. Saw the trailer and it didn't appeal to me but then got it for free and gave it a shot)

I'll keep this short for now but:

1] the first fews days are slow. It's about getting the resources to get the basic stuff out of the way

2] I suspect Animal Crossing isn't a great choice right now for you.. A big selling point was the community aspect, and a lot of people have moved on. Just check the activity at the start of the thread. There's only a handful of us still actively playing it. So you missed the boat a bit. The community aspect isn't going to be the same for you as it was (or still is) for us. Trading is going to be weird. I mean I can literally give you a complete fossil set, but I'm not going to.

3] There's no endgoal.

There's more stuff to say, but I'm off to bed.

You don't.

Animal Crossing is a game of freedom, but trying to "complete" it is a mistake.

The idea is to boot it up once a day and spend 30 minutes to 1 hour slowly building up your island just how you want. When you think you're done, you close the game and carry on tomorrow.

Just go with the flow for now and just explore what opens up to you each day. The game isn't designed to be played like your average game.

When a few days have passed, try visiting other islands N-Europe players are living on and socialising with them.

Now, even though there's no "end goal", most people set their own goals. Some go around collecting furniture, or maybe try to complete the museum (Don't worry, the museum will make sense to you eventually). Stuff like that.

@Glen-i sums it up great, this game is about setting your own goals, your way, your pace, your preferences. It’ll become unique and if you dedicate yourself to it, it’ll attach to you like no other game has done before.

And even though @Sméagol is right about the community having moved on for a large part, this game still brings in new people like yourself or people returning to their town because of new seasons.

Apart from @Glen-i, @Sméagol and myself, I know @BowserBasher and @Tales are still active on a daily basis. And some other people from here like @RedShell and @Vileplume2000 are also still actively playing.

But back to what @Glen-i said, the first week or two are about getting to know the games’ base mechanics before it truly opens up to you. Gathering crafting materials is the most important thing to focus on during this phase, especially iron nuggets! Hope you enjoy the game and join our little cult following :)

I've literally weeded out most of my island and picked a shit ton of apples out. I visited my friend's island and her island has houses and concrete and wicked stuff. She gave me an outfit and a vaulting pole (I had no clue how to jump everywhere [emoji23]).

I want to try and do it all myself tbf. I went into her museum yesterday and saw a shit ton of dinosaurs so I take it they're the fossils you speak of? Okay, I got this [emoji1491]

I've seen my friend's museum...got lost in it [emoji23]. Okay, that's pretty cool, actually. So...my goal is to get all of the stamps in the Nook Miles app thing for now!

None of you can visit my island until I clean it up! It looks basic and a bit of a shit-tip! [emoji23] [emoji23] [emoji23]

So far, I put down my tent and crafted a couple of things. The raccoon wants me to hunt for insects now. That dude is mugging me off, honestly [emoji23]

New Year's Eve is coming up soon.

This year has been trying, that's for sure, and I can imagine that some of us are a bit more alone than is usual at this time of year.

So I was thinking of getting together a small gathering on someone's island to count down the new year!
It's not a full on party like I normally organise, no silly games and waiting for me to type out what's happening next. Just a casual get-together with chatting and stuff.

Still, some organisation is required, so here are the details.

Date: Thursday 31st December

When: 10:30pm (GMT)

Venue: Radiata (@10:30), Kyoshi (@11)

Dress Code: No dress code.

Party-Goers:

Glen-i, BowserBasher, Tales

Maybes:

markderoos

Now, I'm more than happy to host it on my island, but I wanna give other people the chance to state their interest in opening up their island. Just to provide some variety.

I could host too for a little while and them move to another island? I'm an hour ahead of most of you so we can celebrate New Year's twice :p

I actually quite like that idea. 2020 probably needs 2 rituals to purge it!

I'll be updating my previous post.
