Something weird is going on with the release of A.A. Punch-Out!! and my gold coin worth, or at least with the Dutch release.

It seems like the game is only available through the native Switch e-shop. On the website it’s only found by hitting the search button and than still it only shows a linkable name for the title which directs to a faulty webpage that crashes when I try to open it.

You would say, well buy it through the native Switch eShop then. I’ve tried that but it won’t let me use the total worth of my gold coins. Only like €5,60 out of the almost €8,00 I have in there. While through the website I can spend the total value...

By the way, I’ve never dabbled with switching between different eShops so that’s not the issue.

I've ended up ordering Doom physical for about 30 pounds :D. Still, thanks everyone.

Enjoy. It’s a great game. I haven’t played the multiplayer, 100% the main campaign in 40 hours. There’s plenty of content that doesn’t grow stale. I still feel the urge to play through it again.

From the people that brought you Runbow!

https://www.resetera.com/threads/double-cross-announcement-trailer-switch-pc.33677/

Quote

Developed by 13AM Games, the studio behind award-winning Runbow, Double Cross features an adventure-game style investigation crossed with an intense action platformer.
Players are also free to customize Zahra’s play style in order to become the top RIFT agent.

Features

– Players can custom tailor their play style by collecting Upgradium and using it to level up and unlock equippable RIFT agent gear.
Adventure-game style investigation system and upgrade system that allows players to choose how and in what order they play levels

– A unique “Proton Slinger” mechanic that allows diversity of movement throughout levels and the ability to grab and throw objects and enemies

– Varied and upgradeable attacks and combos

– An intricate story engages players as they solve an interdimensional mystery with a diverse cast of characters

– Slick 2D HD art that draws upon traditional gaming and anime style

Surprised to see that it doesn’t seem to have a multiplayer focus, given their debut game, but the concept sounds pretty neat!

Final day of the eShop sale today, anyone doing some last minute purchases?

I ended up with...

  • Kamiko
  • SteamWorld Dig
  • SteamWorld Dig 2
  • Mutant Mudds Collection
  • Gotcha Racing 2nd

That last one wasn't actually part of the sale, but I liked the vibe of it (reminded me a bit of the Pocket Circuit mini-game in Yakuza Zero ) so picked that up too. Got pretty addicted to it over the Easter weekend actually.

While the game certainly won't win any awards for its presentation (it looks like a Flash version of Micro Machines ) I found the gameplay quite fun. Not without faults though, some very iffy collision detection going on, and the sound effect when cars do "collide" is simply atrocious! Sounds like someone chucking an entire bag of Devil Bangers. :heh: The music is pretty cool though, in a cheesy 80's way that is.

DZpPFx1U0AAeCMp.jpg:large

The game has that OTT Japanese hype to it (which I love :hehe:) and some of the items you get from the gachapon machine have hilarious names. The English used in the manual is quite something too. :D

Despite enjoying the game myself, I certainly wouldn't recommend it to anyone else. Unless of course they're also able to see the funny side of the low budget feel, and more importantly, find the gameplay loop of racing/grinding for parts from the gachapon tolerable.

Here's the trailer for anyone that might be interested though:

Urgh. Can’t get on with Wonder Boy at all. I know it’s old school and all but the gameplay has aged terribly. I never actually played this one back in the day but I loved Wonder Boy in Monster World on the Mega Drive.

Glad I didn’t pay full price for it.

Yeah, I wasn’t really a fan of it either. And also glad to have got the game during a sale.

The new art and music is lovely, but the game itself definitely needed some tweaking or additions in order to justify that price.

I played it for the visuals, stayed for the old school gameplay. Something about the momentum based movement and moderate challenge really clicked for me.

Has anyone here given the 10 Second Run demo a try? I was surprised to find the 5 levels in it are unique to the demo and don't appear in the full game.

There's currently a video competition for it on Twitter, it works really well with the Switch's limited video capture as no run last longer than 10 seconds.

Oh! I didn’t know the levels were unique, that’s pretty cool!

Great little game BTW; has some hilariously hype music too!

So I've been playing Mutant Mudds Collection recently, making my way through the first game, and despite not liking it that much initially I ended up loving it! :)

I seem to recall trying a demo back when it released on 3DS and being impressed by the depth mechanic and 3D effect, but no so much be the game itself. Well, I clearly didn't give it enough of a chance back then, as sticking with it now has revealed it to be an absolutely superb game! I think one of the best things about it is actually its very high difficulty level. It can be super tough to collect everything in the game, you need to master (and I mean truly master) every aspect of its gameplay in order to do so. Precision and timing is everything!

Some of the collectable placements are so fiendish (surrounded by vanishing platforms and enemies) that it can often seem unfair the first time you see a level, but the more you play (and consequently the better you get) the more you come to realise just how expertly designed it all is.  You've definitely got to go for the collectables to get the most out of the game though, simply running through each stage and being done with it would be to miss out on what makes it so great.

Spoiler

Dafx8EzWAAAsGYZ.jpg:large

Technically not there yet either, as it appears each level also has an additional secret stage (only accessible after collecting everything else in the game) and medal to obtain! :o

So yeah, I'm playing though those at the moment, as granny. :D

Anyway, I imagine most people here have played the game already, but just in case there's anyone who hasn't (and is also looking for a great platformer on the Switch) then be sure to check it out! This is without even mentioning the other 2 games included in the collection (Mutant Mudds Super Challenge and the puzzle game Mudd Blocks) which I've only looked at briefly so far, but also seem very good.

Has Bad Dudes been improved for Europe (and presumably patched for the US)?

I've just downloaded it and there is the option to have no scanlines/screen effect.  The charge attack is also in there.  There's still no Japanese version (as a purist, I miss references to "Dragonninja"), but it's a lot more complete than expected.
