Switch eShop Thread

Thanks, I just checked Base.com though, did a search, no sign of it, checked all through the Switch category, nothing... plus, do Base.com only sell Pal games all the time or sometimes imports?
I'm just a bit wary of them until I see it appearing elsewhere on other online retailers as well.
It's a really silly situation, this release for a UK Pal version in physical form should be a no-brainer, though I think it was the case with the PS4 version that it was US only for physical.
I know both consoles are region-free, it's the principle though.

They do sell imports but they’ve clearly labeled them in the past. Strange I saw it up there yesterday. Must have taken it down.

There is a cracking game being released this week called Saturday Morning RPG. I played through it a couple of years ago on the PS4 and said this about it over in the 2016 Gaming Diary thread.

Quote

This is something I have wanted to play for a while. I was recently on sale on the US PSN store ( not on the EU store for some weird reason ) and finally got around to playing it.

I'm just gonna get this out of the way now. @RedShell you need to play this game. I think it's available on the PC so grab it when you can.

Amazing game. It's combines the Paper Mario series battle system ( the good one, with all the leveling up and stuff ) and sets you in a world that is just PACKED with 80s references. Honestly, I was laughing all the way through the game. There's stuff like Gremlins, Ghostbusters, Nintendo, The Wizard, Karate Kid, Goonies, Stallone, Arnie, Transformers, Thundercats, GI Joe, He-Man, Turtles, Bravestar, Galaxy Rangers.....I could go on. If you're a child of the 80s then you will appreciate the game on a whole new level.

Gameplay wise it plays like the Paper Mario games. You walking around the world and get into battles. At the start of the battle you have stickers that you can scratch. These offer various bonus for the fight and can be changed in your sticker book outside of battle. You only have about 5 seconds to scratch the stickers so you have to be quick. You can find these lying around the various levels.

Once the battle starts it's the usual Paper Mario style system where you time your hits and guards. You can attack by either using your fists or by using certain items you pick up in the game. These range from toys to giant planes.

There is also a power up meter that can be used. By filling this up you sacrifice a turn but your next move will do more damage. There's a nice balance to it all and can offer some good way to take down certain enemies.

I finished the game the other day and platinumed it yesterday. Had World of Final Fantasy not been played this would have easily been a contender for my GOTY.

I've been considering SMRPG since it looks awesome. Glad to hear it plays well. May pick it up since I'm going on paternity leave from tomorrow afternoon (3 months) and will probably want to play some games when the kid's asleep.

Well with Payday here, put my Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition and Shantae Ultimate Edition (It actually costs less to buy that than buy the DLC for the original) preorders in, bought a lot of my games digitally for Switch.

Been looking at this myself and after watching the trailer the other week, it's definitely piqued my interest, much in the same way Crossing Souls did for all its references. The low price (£7.19) helps as well so I'll probably look to pick it up in the coming weeks.

Worth noting this isn't actually just a costume pack - it's 3 new modes. Including a Mighty Switch Force style mode.

It's included in the retail version as well.

Mighty Switch Force is great fun. So I'm well psyched to play the secret third entry.

So Officer mode is a lot of fun, kinda breaks the game and makes it really easy.

Beach mode however, is really difficult. You need to manage your sunburn-o-meter or you start losing health and rather quickly and you only have 3 hearts. You need to be careful not to enter a boss stage with low health as sometimes it takes a while before you can attack the boss for it to drop so you have to both dodge the attack and watch your meter. I had a really hard time with the Dual Barons as they wouldn't drop any sunscreen.

Not played Ninja mode yet.

Late shift

A much beter FMV game. A complete smooth experience, it does away with any extraneous gameplay elements, enabling you to simply enjoy an interactive film for roughly 1.5 hours. Every now and again, there's a choice you have to make about what to say or do, and the film continues uninterrupted. Compared to the bunker, it plays better, looks better (more cinematic), the lead actor is better in my opinion, and the story is better with more twists. Apparently there are several endings, and I got a pretty bad one. So it's also more replayable than The Bunker, which doesn't really have any variations in its story, and two endings, which is simply a choice you make at the very end. I mean, I'm in no hurry to get all seven endings, but I'll at least try for a better one. Being an interactive film, I suspect it also makes a nice party game.

Pixel Junk Monsters 2 DEMO

I'm not really into tower defense games, but I absolutely love the artstyle of this game. I enjoyed the one level that the demo entails, and I could see this being a somewhat fun online multiplayer game (it apparently has online co-op), but it being a tower defense game, I can't see this have any long-lasting appeal. Especially if the full game doesn't contain any more building options and enemies,

The ARMS demo is very welcome, I'm very tempted to pick the game up. Just wish they put more effort into single player stuff.

Was browsing the eshop this morning and noticed that White Night is getting a Switch release in the 17th of this month, so this coming week. Not sure if anyone will be interested in the game but I played it a few years ago when it launched on the PS4 and enjoyed it. There are a couple of issues, namely the controls (though the fixed camera angles don't help on that one) and the insta-deaths but it's still an interesting game with a good set design and style.

Downloaded the demo for PixelJunk Monsters 2 and enjoyed what was there. Probably would have liked another level or 2 to see what else the game will throw at you, with it being tower defence, but I enjoyed it. Did seem a little stuttery in handheld mode when you had the camera behind the character but that's not really an issue as I can't see that view point being useful unless the character is able to attack itself later on. Something to keep an eye on anyway.

Also downloading the demo for Aegis Defenders. Had hoped they'd put the demo up while the game was on sale the other week to give it a go but it seems to have taken it's time arriving over here. Hoping that it's good as I'm in the mood for some strategy title on the Switch now that I've finished off Mario + Rabbids and there's not a lot else that's catching my eye on the console at the moment.

I stuck that game on my watch list back when it came out but have recently noticed that it can no longer be purchased, you also get a 404 error when trying to access the game on Nintendo's webpage. :hmm:

Doesn't seem to be any info out there as to why it has been removed from the eShop though, anyone here know? :blank:

Wow, you’re right!

But wait a minute, since when do they convert £39,99 to €49,99? That’s an extremely heafty price difference...
