Excellent... :D

So that's 2PM BST on Thursday for the UK then. :)

Almost exactly a week after the Switch reveal, surely they won't show a Monster Hunter for the Switch this early though? If they did and it turned out to be a launch title for the machine in all territories that would be huge! :hehe:

But it's time to temper those expectations... It will likely be dlc for Monster Hunter Generations or more likely Monster Hunter Stories, maybe a limited edition this, special edition that but probably no huge megatons as much as I'd love that.

Then again, there is always that outisde possibility... MH5 for 3DS with MH5U (or should that be MH5S) for the switch at a later date? :heh:

Who knows, interesting times though as when the Switch comes out in March 2017 that would be the series' 13th anniversary from when the original game came out in Japan and to think, it has been on Nintendo platforms for around half of that time now. : peace:

Switch MH would be megatons. I bought MH3U but didn't really play it enough(on the bandwagon after it sailed) and got fucked up by Nintendo's stupid online when I tried to buy a reduced 3DS copy, but if you told me I could get the Switch+Monster Hunter it'd make Day 1 a lot more attractive to me. I've mentioned repeatedly but having a functionality of specific content/quests when docked at home compared to a more local/portable content when out and about around others with a Switch would be kinda cool/interesting. You go out - meet someone, hunt/quest with them, become friends and then later play at home for the other content - it gives both parts of the system an equal representation of sorts.

Apparently no Switch announcements will be made, so it will probably be a 3DS game.

Monster Hunter Stories is already out in Japan so I guess it won't be that, at least not for their Direct, unless its DLC for that.

There news a while back that said a new MH game arriving before the end of March. I think it was in Capcoms financials or something. My guess is that it's the G version of Monster Hunter Generations.

Monster Hunter Switch would be amazing! I'm hoping this is what the Direct is about :D

Not quite MH related but this one of the places I feel 'Switch' falls down - it's actually a word that's got a fairly common usage. I feel like if I see 'Monster Hunter Switch' my mind wants to be like 'switch what?' whereas if it was Monster Hunter NX then I'd be a bit more like 'Ah, NX must have its own sort of meaning'.

I'm thinking 3DS game, maybe Monster Hunter X G version? Hopefully there's at least a mention of Switch port or development on a Switch game - Nintendo have to be asking Capcom to do a version, would be a massive get in the first year.

Meh, if its another 3DS game then i'll not be bothered. I just find the graphics an eye sore and the controls too annoying.

I always said Monmster Hunter on Switch is the perfect hyrbrid showcase (that and Animal Crossing), so surely this is it? But @Hero\-of\-Time you've heard it won't be :( Boo!!!!!

Yeah, according to Gaf underneath the logo on the Direct page it states that their will be no switch or Mobile news from this showing.

My mistake, I thought it was six hours time difference, thanks for the clarification. : peace:

Either way for me, I'll be watching it later in the day it looks like.

Clock don't go back until this Sunday so we're good there at least. :)

Capcom gotta try and squeeze that last bit of juice out of a bunch of old assets. :D

I can't wait for them to develop a MH for the Switch. The lazy SOBs better finally deliver a proper HD Monster Hunter game. None of this upscaling an old engine garbage.

It's probably gonna be Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate. Really can't see it being anything else (MH5 will be Switch exclusive - it kinda has to be)

It's really a matter of diminishing returns on 3DS at this point though. As much as I love Monster Hunter, I'm not really itching for another 3DS outing really... We already have 3 games (4 if you include the original version of MH4 that was Japan only and 5 if you count Stories; which you really probably shouldn't).

Hopefully we get an announcement of MHStories for the west at this Direct. As for what I'd like to see with MHGU? I just really want it to be harder. Most of the monsters in MHG are really pushovers... Gimme a proper challenge!

This probably hints that MH5 is quite far out though. Makes sense I guess; it'll be the first proper HD Monster Hunter (i.e made for a HD console and not a cheap port up), so it's gonna be baking for a looooooonnnggg time...

Pah. Monster Hunter 5: Switch Axe needs to be at Christmas - get that asian market. Entice more westerners to get into the franchise. It's perfect!!! Finally Westeners on big screen TVs can play online with Japanese portable players!!!

COME ON! I just unlocked my Hunter Rank and now you're telling me there's a chance for Generation G?

They better damn well let me transfer my stuff/Progress if that's the case! I worked bloody hard for that Divine Insodus!

Not a happy hunter...

I echo this statement, though it must be said that if we did get MHGU for the Wii U which is something I just assumed wouldn't be happening for some odd reason... :p then Capcom should really take the chance to rebalance the difficulty if possible and at least add some new monsters.

But yeah, if it's moreorless a straight port then definitely give us a way of transferring our data MH3U style as I really don't fancy doing some of those really grindy quests all over again, particularly in the single-player...

...Astalos though, I could fight that thing all day long! ;)

Also at least if it does come to the Wii U then chances are it will be one more game with voice chat  I feel Capcom don't get enough praise for at least including voice chat in one of the earlier Wii U games, it really did make a difference at the time even though I'm still happy enough with text presets in MHG as at least they can make things amusing at times.

Many times I've seen @Glen\-i use his "Well, that happened!" shortcut with super-effectiveness and it definitely adds to the overall experience. :D

Is it a bit of a waste of time for a version to be released for the Wii U. There is a new console being released in March. Surely it would have been better to have released a Wii U version last year

True enough I suppose but we don't know to what extent the Wii U will continue to be supported even when the Switch is out, just like how the Wii servers stayed online for a good few years afterwards, especially if somehow there ends up being a Wii U version and a Switch version of the same game with cross-platform play somehow. :)

But yeah... more than likely you are right, unless there's significant compatiblity via downloadable software then it's unlikely to happen and it's for the best that the future of the series shifts towards the Switch instead. : peace:

I still expect the Wii U to be supported with digital content for a while yet though.

The Wii U has hardly been supported in the past 24 months nevermind after the Switch is released. Why do a massive release on the Wii U now? A bit of a waste...

March 2017 release date is awful close to the Switch release date. This would be a big launch title and the assets are already in HD. Just saying, Capcom and Nintendo!

Posted
As expected, it was just a G version of Generations. It arrives in March over in Japan. I'm not sure if we will even get this version. Maybe a Switch version for the West?

Yeah, that release date is very suspicious.

Unless it comes out on the Switch, I'll give it a miss. I'm not too keen on playing through Generations again. (Especially with Barioth, my mortal nemesis, making a return) I still need to beat Amatsu/Ukanlos/Alatreon, etc.

It would make a killer launch game in Japan. And a solid launch title for me to get.
