Lost more than half of the matches I've played and I have to say...people are idiots.

Why on earth does my team need THREE Widowmakers? Why does my team need TWO Meis? Why am I the only one who plays support/tank? Why does everybody go for kills in order to get the play of the game reel? Why the fuck does Tracer run into 5 enemies just to get slaughtered in literally 1 second? Why play Reinhardt when you don't use his shield?

I get that the game is new...but when I play with people who are level 50+ (great matchmaking, btw...I'm level 8) I expect some understanding of the game.

Still, it's good fun and refreshing to not see a scoreboard, just your own stats. I do think, however, that the play of the game ruins some matches...Blizzard intends to improve that (i.e. make not only multikills viable) and I hope that this will change things.

Definitely agree that there are a few too many idiots running about in the Quick Play at the moment, either picking characters that don't suit the objective type or misusing ones and their powers at the worst times.

Last night I got put into a match with someone running Mercy, which is great as a healer on the Lijiang Tower map is kind needed for controlling the point. Yet 5 times over the course of that match, I was playing Reinhardt as no one was picking up support (that's another issue, people not paying attention during setup to what the team mix is) and was trying to help control the point with my shield up. Over the 3 rounds, I got rezzed 5 times on a contest control point with 4 or 5 of the enemy team on the point. What the hell is the point there, I'm just gonna go straight down again before I've even got my shield up

It's hopefully something that'll be weed out of the game over the coming weeks. I've lost count of the number of matches I've lost on the round control objectives because people were running Genji or some other characters which doesn't help defend the point. I like playing as Genji but seeing others playing the badly or in the wrong instance is giving it a bad name round the community already.

Anyways, was interesting playing as Reinhardt last night. Got the defensive stance down but not too great if I need to go in and attack. Also gave Torbjorn another go and it clicked while playing the Dorado map, though I'm not really a fan of that map. And loving Reaper now that I've gotten used to his moveset. My most played attacker now, though he still languishes far behind my play time on Junkrat, just love that combo of grenades and traps.

Now I know why everyone wants to play Widowmaker...skip to 9:13 to see what I'm talking about.

Combining the low tick rate and lag compensation makes for some horrible situations in-game.

Blizzard have yet to comment on the tick rate issue.

People assume that they will improve the netcode because Blizzard said they want to push Overwatch into esports, but custom games have a higher tick rate and these will be used in esport matches so I'm pretty sure the casual players will be shafted...

Time will tell, I guess.

Regarding tick rate they spoke about a higher tick rate option of 60 in the future. But it may just be for skirmishes. Bf4 used to be 10. Destiny has claims of 10 too but no ones knows for sure. Titanfall 20. COD is 32.

Had far less nonsense in this game vs Destiny by far on average. It's soothing in comparison. I don't think it's due to tick rate though. I spend more time playing the game and matchmaking is fast.

Yeah looking forward to playing this next week when I'm about. :) Saw Zell wrecking some shit with the dwarf and his traps.

Wait, how did you watch me play? Is there some feature I'm missing?

Yeah I tried to join your game but I think it was full, so I was just spectating.

Excellent game, nice and refreshing getting used to it now, enjoy playing as a healer when required.

Had a guy who kept thanking me, he was basically bastion and I kept on healing him and he rekt everyone as I hid behind a wall. Another time escorting the payload and just followed behind and healed as much as I could, think he got about 10 kills thanks to me.

Takes some time getting used to some of the characters, but I'm sure they all have their strenghts.

Any tips on going up against reaper he seems so OP

Roadhog. Chain Hook, shoot, dead (I think one shot is enough).

Other than that, keep your distance. He's only good close range.

I wanted to play this today, but I couldn't stop playing The Talos Principle :D

In the last 24 hours I've been disconnected 3 times and left one match due to a never ending loading screen.

And now I have a -75% XP penalty. Looked up how many matches I'll have this...looks like it depends on a certain "completed to not completed"-ratio which takes into account the last 20 matches.

I have played 22 matches today without leaving/disconnecting once...the penalty is still there..

For all the stuff the game gets right there's a lot of things it just outright doesn't...

I've fallen into the trap of basically playing Mercy every match. Mostly because people won't play a healer and because I don't mind doing so.

Oops.

Dem points at the end of a match are well worth it.

The game is really starting to frustrate me...

I've lost 13 games in a row because my teams are too stupid to understand that our hero composition is moronic...and when I change to a more suitable hero another player changes to a hero that renders my choice obsolete.

I swear to god...if I see one more team with 2 Genjis, one Widowmaker, one Hanzo and a Tracer ON THE DEFENDING SIDE I'll lose my shit.

Then there's always one or two who rush forward trying to get a play of the game, completely ignoring the objective for the whole match.

Losing a game when the opposing team is better is one thing, but losing the majority of the matches when the team I'm in is utterly stupid is annoying and frustrating.

Edit: Something I will now keep doing that removes the frustration immediately:

1. Choose whatever hero would compliment the team.

2. See if people work as a team/if people ensure a good team composition.

if they do:

3. Continue playing with that character/adjust to enemy team/create synergies.

4. Enjoy the game.

if they don't:

3. Fuck it.

4. Switch to a different hero and practise.

5. Enjoy the game.

Works like a charm. : peace:

Really starting to like Genji and Zarya.

Genji can be a great lone wolf. Sneak up and pick off enemies near death. His deflect ability is amazing.

And Zarya is a beast...time your shields perfectly and your weapon power grows immensely. Then it's time to wreck some shit

I don't know. I don't leave games :D When I stop playing I usually wait until the XP screen and then close the game.

People seem to understand the game a lot better.

There's still the occasional "4 Bastions + 1 Genji + 1 other hero" team and some morons who think that it's Team Deathmatch, but overall it's a much more enjoyable experience.

Zenyatta is a very cool support. In the right hands (in my hands :p) he can be devastating to the enemy team.

Somehow I'm not very good with several offensive heroes, like Reaper and Tracer.

Genji and Pharah I'm pretty good with, though.

I avoid playing with McCree because he is OP and I hope the balance update will come soon.

I still seem to be getting mixed with randoms just after kills more often than not. Team Deathmatch can't come soon enough so that we can be rid of these people as they really don't watch for the team composition or help with capturing the points/moving the payload. It's getting a bit annoying having the opposition team walk through us because my team are off trying to grab kills leaving me and sometimes 1 other person trying to hold back the enemy

I have had a few good matches though with some very switched on teams where, playing on Nepal, we managed to hold the point in both rounds without the other team touching it and held them more or less in their spawn area. Did feel a bit cheaty doing that but very rare to have a team as switched on as that

Seem to be playing more often than not as Reinhardt at the moment and when I'm not, I'm playing as Zayra as support/tank to bolster defences when someone else picks Reinhardt. Picked Zayra just on a whim when we were getting pummelled in a match and really enjoyed playing so she's become a go to when I'm playing the control point maps as an alternative to Reinhardt when the map layout isn't conducive to his charge attack. Occasionally jump on Symmetra but more often those two. Ended up being the sole reason why we managed to win on Gibraltar as everyone else was off chasing kills and as Reinhardt, I pushed the payload for 2:58 through every checkpoint. Really wish people would help more often with that, especially for the second checkpoint on that map as it can be a choke point.

Offense wise, pretty much settled on Reaper. Finally managed to grab the trophy for killing 4 players with Death Blossom. Phased onto a control point and dropped the ult and cleared it of all 4 enemy players to capture it, was beautiful.

Really despise Junkrat now though. That thing is just a nuisance, along with McCree, spamming grenades and that death perk of dropping 5 grenades takes the biscuit. There's a reason why that was removed from CoD back in the day so why is it here?!?! Do take great joy in charging and pinning a Junkrat as Reinhardt

Trying to kill Tracer is very hard for me, playing as Tracer getting killed every few seconds appears to be very easy :)

I think a lot of it is remembering your power ups to get that advantage and use at the right time.

I really hope Team Deathmatch will be in a future update and it turns out the way you (and I) want.

I love Junkrat. :D I don't utilize that "throw grenades from a distance"-playstyle, though: I always jump into the fray, set traps and use mines either offensively or to move around.

I know that feeling...normally I like quick playstyles, but with Tracer it hasn't clicked, yet.

So I got this last night. My first thoughts?

Overwatch is overwhelming.

I probably shouldn't have done the weekly gametype because it switches you character on death. I got a 21 player Kill Streak as Pharah on my second game. Which was nice. It was an escort mission and we were defending.

Only played three games so far and lost all of them.

I'll be on tonight if anyone is up for playing together.

I've seen you play this yesterday and was looking forward to hearing your first impressions.

Yes, Overwatch is overwhelming and it will stay that way for quite some time.

Aprox. 80 games in and there are still moments when I'm thinking: "What the actual fuck, what should I do, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!" (most of the time I have already died at the "what should I do"-phase).

I'll be on tonight if anyone is up for playing together.

If the lady doesn't come over I'll be online : peace:

Edit: Played 4 matches today.

#1 - Attacking side. The good ol' 3 Widowmaker + 2 Genji team. Always a joy to see. We lost.

#2 - Defending side. "No support heroes, no tank heroes, too many of one hero" - I choose Zarya as a semi-counter to "No support, no tank". "Too many of one hero" remains...it was Hanzo. AWESOME. We lost.

#3 - Defending side. 3 Reapers + a Reinhardt, a Junkrat and me as Lucio. The Reapers ran around by themselves and got killed a lot. INCREDIBLE. The other two and me tried to defend as best as we could. We lost.

#4 - Defending side. 2 Tracers + 1 Reaper + 1 Hanzo playing Team Deathmatch. Loved it. Winston and me as Mercy obviously struggled to defend the payload. We lost.

tl;dr People are fucking idiots.

Yeah, there's a surprising amount of stupid going around....

I played a defending team yesterday where 3 people picked Hanzo and wouldn't swap. The other two were, IIRC, Tracer and Widowmaker. I went Bastion. These guys weren't like, level 5. They were 15+.

I mean, wtf. We lost in as little time as it is physically possible to lose in. Unsurprisingly.

Despite that I absolutely adore the game. So much fun.
