Happy 28th October fool's day!

Oh. Wait.

It's real.

Nintendo 2DS

The newest member of the Nintendo 3DS family is designed specifically for anyone looking for a more affordable entry point into the world of Nintendo hand-held video games. Nintendo 2DS will be available in Red or Blue on Oct. 12 at a suggested retail price of $129.99.

Nintendo 2DS plays the entire library of packaged and downloadable games for Nintendo 3DS only in 2D. The system features a distinctive fixed, slate-type form factor, and optional carrying cases will be available in Red or Blue at launch at a suggested retail price of $12.99. Nintendo 2DS maintains many of the same hardware features as Nintendo 3DS: dual screens, game-play controls and touch-screen features. The system also has backward compatibility with the existing library of more than 2,000 Nintendo DS games, as well as access to wireless connectivity features like multiplayer online game play, fun Nintendo Video content and great digitally delivered games in the Nintendo eShop. To view a video of Nintendo 2DS, visit http://youtu.be/sAExBTWIp3M.

People eager to test drive the new system will have the chance beginning in October, when Nintendo 2DS joins a sampling tour in conjunction with Simon Malls that visits several different markets before it wraps up on Nov. 3. For more information about the tour, visit http://www.nintendo.com.

Why? Somebody please tell me why?

All I see is more confusion to the consumer. So now we have a 3DS small or XL but if you dont want 3D just get a 2DS but oh wait cant I just get a NDS if I dont want 3D?

Are the game now going to be branded as 3DS/2DS?

I really see no reason why they have called it 2DS. Should of went with 3DS lite or something. 2DS is just adding more brand confusion again!!

This is blatantly aimed squarely at kids who would be buying the system for Pokemon X&Y, it's launching on the same day.

It's a terrible idea that stinks of desperation. They REALLY want to remove any possible barriers to entry for Pokemon players, but in doing so, they're gonna end up damaging the system in the long run (watch as 3rd parties stop supporting S3D in their games now that they have this thing as an excuse)

Fuck you Nintendo, fuck you very much!

So while the Xbox One confuses everyone with its stupid name....Nintendo release a console called the 2DS at the same time as the 3DS...while essentially being a standard DS...except without the convenient clamshell?

I want whatever Nintendo is smoking.

Well it's super cheap at least. I think it could sell pretty well.

Watch those parents continue to ask staff can 3DS games play on my 2DS as the game boxes only say 3DS.

First the Wii Mini then this. I despair sometimes, I really do.

Aimed at kids under the age of 6. I think the design is supposed to be able to take a beating. Although parents don't seem to be bothered with giving kids breakable devices like tablets and phones.

Some people are still confused when it comes to the DS lite, XL, 3DS & 3DS XL. Look at the Wii U & Wii, a lot of people are having problems distinguishing between both...

So Nintendo decides to bring another 3DS but without 3D so they call it 2DS.

Not a fan. Besides the circle pad looks a bit high up.
