Can I pre-download the packs now, before having the disc? Not read reviews but just skimming the thread maybe this is something I'll give some time to going forward(sorry Witcher...and Flink :p)

Yeah you can :) They did that intentionally because there's like 10GB of them

Excellent! Might have to fire the WiiU up sometime soon and get them on there - can see myself impulsively caving for the game soon; be nice to sit at home with in the quiet bits of xmas(which I don't have a lot of, tbh). Am I too old to take my WiiU to my parents' house and play video games all of xmas day rather than socialising with the family :p?

You? You want an RPG? And it's nothing to do with Pokemon?

You will understand if I remain skeptical about this, right?

It's not turn-based. We're all good :p

Mind-you, I am getting Mario & Luigi for Christmas :)

You're never too old.

And thanks to Off-TV Play, you can take it into the dining room and socialise with family while playing

For some reason, it wants me to have 10gb free for the character model pack.. I've all ready downloaded the rest for a total of just over 6gb, the fuck is going on here?

The whole package needs 15gb free for unpacking, but after it's ninstalled it takes 19gb od your space. That's how I understood it.

Ok, so fitting it on system memory was never that likely then. I cleared out my fridge yesterday, but not by that much. :heh:

Yeah, I was looking at what I could clear out of the fridge yesterday but it wouldn't have been enough. I'm not paying £50 just for some data packs to be stored. I'll just make do with the longer loading times. Dat 32GB internal storage... :shakehead

Insane that they ever thought that was an acceptable amount. No idea if I can make space for this.

You could always just get something like this. :hmm:

Still probably not worth it just for quicker load times, but a better deal than 50 quid. :hehe:

It's certainly another option. To be honest I'm still back and forth on whether to buy the game or not. If FFVII drops at the Playstation Experience then this won't get a look in from me. I may just wait until I see what that conference brings before making a purchase.

Yeah, I'm still not sure how much I'll be playing this.

It's the same old end of year cram 'em all in to November/December BS. :indeed: It's particularly bad this year though, with so many of the games I'm interested in being super lengthy titles. :shakehead

If I was smart I'd just hold off buying some of these games for next year... but I'm not. :heh:

I've been quite good with managing my games and watching my gaming spending habits. I don't want to trip before the finish line. :D

Having this launch alongside Mario & Luigi is just ridiculous, though. Two RPGs from one company on the same day is just stupid.

Honestly using an external HDD has been mostly painless and alleviated the headache of space constraints. The only caveat was the one I bought didn't get enough power off the USB and just needed a different cord.

I've been staying pretty blind in regards to this game and figured I'd just nab it some point down the line but read Jim Sterlings review and got fairly excited for it again. Same as the original trailers did haha. I'll probably get the downloads started tonight. if it was steam 10 GB would be nothing but any of my consoles download infinitely more slowly than any of my PCs. Wired or wireless.

Even if the Wii U's internal storage was bigger, downloading an extra 10GB for one game is unusual, surely? Is there any reason they couldn't use a 50GB disc?

The data packs are to improve load times buy installing it to your HDD since reading from a disk is slower, so making the disk bigger wouldn't help in that regard.

Digital Foundry vs Xenoblade Chronicles X

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2015-vs-xenoblade-chronicles-x

There are some oddities here and there, but overall very impressive stuff indeed. :awesome:

I only hope that the NX will be really powerfull and that they make Xenoblade Chronicles XXXXX (whatever), because they would not need to scrifrice a lot and look what they managed to do on this console.

Also, as someone said, there is hope for Zelda U and they probably just need time to make it work the whey they want it, but it takes longer on a console with less power.

So wait just to clarify - the data packs are 10GB to download but compressed and actually install at almost 20GB?

If I understood it corectly, it takes 10gb after installing, but need 15gb to be installed (unpacking and staff). That's what I have read on NeoGaf.
