Hero-of-Time Posted May 21, 2014 Posted May 21, 2014 Auto sign in is finally arriving, along with a bunch of other stuff. Easily Increase Games Capacity with External Storage SupportIt couldn’t be easier to increase your storage capacity of games and apps with the external storage support features we’re bringing in June. Your Xbox One system will soon support up to two external hard drives at once. Simply plug in your 256 GB or larger USB 3.0 external hard drive and once formatted, copy and move games, apps and game add-ons to increase your storage capacity at home. This is also a great way to take your content to a friend’s house and get straight into a game directly from an external drive. You’ll need to sign in to Xbox Live if you’ve purchased your content digitally or insert a disc to verify your game ownership when you take your content on the road. The great benefit here is there’s no need to wait to re-download your game and all the DLC. With external storage support in June, you can also choose to copy full games and all of the associated content in one easy step. Real Names Makes it Easier to Identify Friends With Xbox One you can have 1,000 friends and infinite followers, but as these lists grow it can become increasingly more difficult to remember the people you know by their gamertag alone. Now with real names feature you can recognize people on your friends list and more easily discover people you already know who are on Xbox Live. Most importantly, we heard your feedback that to make this most useful you need full control. You’ll be able to share with all your friends, a subset of your choosing, friends of friends or none at all. The choice is yours. Also, your name doesn’t show up in games, and you can change your settings any time from your profile and when adding new friends. SmartGlass Provides Access to full OneGuide and Universal Remote Control, Pin Reordering and More We’ve made a ton of changes to your SmartGlass app for Xbox One. After getting great feedback from our SmartGlass beta, we’re thrilled to be bringing the entire OneGuide experience and Universal Remote Control to SmartGlass. Now in supported markets you can view all of your TV listings on your SmartGlass device and set and view your favorite channels and app channels on your smart phone, tablet or PC. With the Universal Remote Control, you can also easily switch channels, set new recordings and select and control recorded content from your DVR. Another great companion feature now in SmartGlass is pin reordering. With the touch of your finger you can easily organize your pins in categories or favorites based on your preferences and have those changes refresh to your console. Other improvements to SmartGlass will help you stay current on what you and your friends are up to, even when you’re away from your console. We’re bringing hero stats and activity feed front and center, and adding more ways for you to compare achievements via SmartGlass whether you’re on a friend’s profile or viewing a game from the activity feed. Just like on the console, you can choose to get notifications on your smart phone, PC or tablet when a favorite friend signs into their console or starts broadcasting a game. For many devices, you can even choose to start watching the broadcast wherever you are. Expanded TV and OneGuide Soon Available in More Markets The TV and OneGuide features we began sharing with select Xbox Live members in April will be available in June to everyone in Canada, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Italy. The update will bring OneGuide, alongside Favorites and App Channels, for people in these markets who have their TV connected to Xbox One via HDMI-in. Additional features in these markets include Kinect voice commands for controlling your set-top box and other AV equipment. We’ve also updated TV and OneGuide settings to provide better power management and control of your devices and improved compatibility with more devices. New Gold Membership Benefits, Access to Apps for All and More With this update, you’ll find a new hub in Xbox One for exploring all of the great benefits available to Xbox Live Gold members, including Games with Gold and Deals with Gold. Also, with the Xbox Live Gold changes announced last week, shortly after the Xbox One system update becomes available in June all Xbox Live members will be able to access popular gaming and entertainment apps without a Gold membership. Finally, we’ve made it possible for you to choose an account for automatic sign-in on your Xbox One – another much-requested feature from fans like you. Coming soon, these features will be available to members previewing Xbox One system updates as they help us work through final improvements. This system update will become available to the full Xbox One community in June. We look forward to hearing what you think and keep the feedback coming. Well happy with the auto sign in update.
flameboy Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 Auto sign in is finally arriving, along with a bunch of other stuff. Well happy with the auto sign in update. Happy with the auto sign in for when Kinect doesn't pick you up, happy with real names being added, happy with external hdd. Some of the smartglass stuff around TV now seems somewhat redundant as the majority of owners will not have Kinect and therefore be unable to control their TV with Xbox. Why the don't bundle this new SKU with some kind of IR blaster is beyond me. It's the thing that dumbfounded me about this whole Kinect thing...the feeling of total abandonment of this stuff, it's one of the reasons I picked it up. At least they will still support it for those who own it.

At least they will still support it for those who own it. I was confused as to why they pushed it again. Sales of the Kinect software and hardware had slowed down to a crawl on the 360 and developers didn't really care to use it either. All the signs were there that the market had moved on but they still chose to push Kinect and look where it's got them. The One would have been in a much better position had they launched without the Kinect in the first place and been the same price, or cheaper, as the PS4. For me they had the better software, which is why I bought one over a PS4, but for many it was simply the price that mattered. I know a bunch of people who moved over from the 360 to the PS4 because of this and fair play to them. It's crazy to see just how badly both Microsoft and Nintendo have dropped the ball this generation.

It is encouraging though that Microsoft seem to be listening to consumers and with every update they are able to say "we've listened to your feedback and are now including..." Doesn't excuse a poor start and launching a console that wasn't even on a par, feature wise, with the 360, but it's a start!

Doesn't excuse a poor start and launching a console that wasn't even on a par, feature wise, with the 360, but it's a start! Absolutely. The updates they have done with the console have been great and released in a very speedy manner. As you said, it's features that fans were kicking off about not being there and they have sorted it out very quickly. I wish Nintendo would have this approach.

I would personally have dropped the price and taken the lose if they could maybe this just wasn't possible. Anyway I'm still with you the software we know of that will come to Xbox One in 2014 has made it and continues makes it far more interesting to me personally.

Really like the look of Max, I was debating picking it up when I heard it was going to be part of the promotion, so held fire! Had yesterday off and now not really at home for the rest of the week which is a shame as won't be able to crack on until next week!
flameboy Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Both games are great. I picked them up soon after I bought the console. Max is very charming and has some great gameplay ideas. I played some Halo found it pretty bland to be honest.... Cannot wait to play some of Max though! What are people's predictions for July?
Hero-of-Time Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I played some Halo found it pretty bland to be honest.... Cannot wait to play some of Max though! What are people's predictions for July? The main issue I had with Halo was that only a few missions were for online co-op. I don't see why the whole game wasn't? I still enjoyed it though but out of the two, Max is definitely the better game. Possibly Crimson Dragon. I know it's half price at the moment but it has GoG written all over it, so I will happily wait a bit longer .

Yeah...I thought Crimson Dragon and Sony often do that trick of putting a game on sale and then adding it to plus. I think Ryse is quite a good candidate if they end up putting retail games on there as well because it does have micro transactions so it's possible they will still make some money.
lostmario Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Microsoft E3 conference start at 5pm tomorrow? Also, any idea how long it will be?
Hero-of-Time Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Microsoft E3 conference start at 5pm tomorrow? Also, any idea how long it will be? I think it's 17:30pm it starts. I can't wait. They usually last an hour and a half.
flameboy Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 Theres a new Xbox Live Events app for Xbox One to download if you want to catch the press conference both live and after the event. I'm glad it's there means I can get to watch it hopefully relatively rumour free when I get in to work. Without trying to navigate the net spoiler free!

flameboy Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 I can't wait. They really need to deliver to get the One back on track and in the minds of gamers. I'm expecting good things from this showing. In Phil I trust! : peace: What else other than the previously announced Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 are you expecting as stuff coming this year that will get people buying the one though? I do personally think a lot of the E3 new reveals will be for 2015 titles. For me there are 3 things I'd like to see this year: 1. A Rare franchise being resurrected - not expecting it to be developed by Rare as such but the success of the well receiver Killer Instinct shows there is still desire for their games. 2. Summer of Arcade returns - use a summer of arcade style program to heavily promote ID@Xbox and finally get this indie push going to catch up with Sony include the likes of idarb, roundabout. 3. Master Chief Collection - I hope the recent rumours about this are true and the scope of the Halo 2 Anniversary edition has become larger to encompass other core titles from the 360, will give me a chance to catch up!
Hero-of-Time Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I wanna see more of Sunset Overdrive. I would love for a Gears of War collection to be announced. I think we may see a Gears teaser, even if the game is miles off. Halo 5 trailer and Master Chief collection. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Crackdown 3 teaser. There's the rumour flying around about a big 3rd party game being exclusive. Many are speculating its a game by Platinum. Phantom Dust may be returning. I never played the original on the Xbox but many are excited by this. Anything from Rare that resembles a classic IP. With Kinect being tossed aside maybe now we can get a new Banjo/Conker/PD/Kameo. Anything else will be a bonus.
Charlie Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Anything from Rare that resembles a classic IP. With Kinect being tossed aside maybe now we can get a new Banjo/Conker/PD/Kameo. Just how good would a new Conker game be.
Dcubed Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Anyone else gonna be hanging around in the N-E chat room live while watching this? Reckon that this might actually be the most interesting and exciting conference of the three! MS have their backs to wall, with a safe full of cash and a hunger for catching up to Sony... God only knows what that wallet could buy... Just how good would a new Conker game be. Without Chris Seavor or anyone else from the original CBFD team? Crap would be my guess...
Charlie Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Without Chris Seavor or anyone else from the original CBFD team? Crap would be my guess... There are a lot of people who know how to make good games these days. I wouldn't say just because the original team are no longer there then they can't make a good game.
Ganepark32 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 You know, a lot of places are going with the Halo Collection as being the big Halo title for this year to be unveiled later today and while that seems like it's going to happen, I'd actually like Microsoft to do another Halo Wars title. Yes, Ensemble was shuttered and it wouldn't be the "big" Halo game people wanted this year but I'd personally love to see another game in that series. Perhaps even tying into or leading up to the events of Halo 5. From what I've heard, the ship from Wars (the UNSC Spirit of Fire for those that remember/played it) has reappeared in the comics (Halo: Extraction or something) and seems to be carrying flood spores so could nicely fill the Halo void this year with something new but also something which very nicely sets up elements of next year's game. Just my thoughts anyway but would be nice to see them doing something like that. Not really sure what to expect from the conference really, besides the obvious obligatory showing off of Call of Duty, Halo 5: Guardians, Sunset Overdrive and a bunch of SmartGlass talk.
Shorty Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 All Microsoft really need to do to win back the crowd is go Games, Games, Games. If they don't, if it's all TV shows and sports again, they'll have truly dropped the ball.
flameboy Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Just how good would a new Conker game be. YES! I'd love this happen! Such a good good game! Anyway I'm stuck at work so going on Internet lock down will back once I've watched the conference spoiler free!
dwarf Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) For convenience: Live Stream (with text commentary below) http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-06-09-live-microsofts-e3-press-conference Pre-show starts 5.00pm, proper show at 5.30pm. All Microsoft really need to do to win back the crowd is go Games, Games, Games. If they don't, if it's all TV shows and sports again, they'll have truly dropped the ball. I don't think they'd make that mistake twice. Scarred for life one would hope. Edited June 9, 2014 by dwarf
