General Gaming Sales/Charts Discussion

Recommended Posts

Despite the average reviews The Order is doing the business, as predicted. It will be interesting to see what staying power it has though.

Well we don't really know that. The top spot could be 35k or 80k we just don't know. The fact there was no PR suggests it sold less than other PS4 exclusives first week.

Remember first week will be pre orders. The reviews will hurt it after that.

The PS4 passes the 20 million sold mark.

TOKYO, March 3, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCE) today announced that the PlayStation®4 (PS4™) computer entertainment system has cumulatively sold through more than 20.2 million units worldwide as of March 1. PS4 continues to demonstrate the fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation® hardware history.

"We are so grateful for the enormous support from PlayStation® fans worldwide, and we are truly humbled that gamers around the globe have continued to select PS4 as the best place to play," said Andrew House, President and Global CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. "We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver unique and interactive entertainment experiences powered by the network and the PS4 system's deep social capabilities."

The PS4 system's games portfolio will continue to expand with highly anticipated titles such as Batman: Arkham Knight (Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment), Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd.), Bloodborne, Until Dawn, Tearaway Unfolded, and Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (SCE Worldwide Studios). The independent development community will also continue to deliver innovative new titles for PS4 including No Man's Sky (Hello Games).

SCE will continue to expand the world of PS4 to deliver entertainment experiences that are only possible on PlayStation.

The PS4 system is currently available in 123 countries and regions worldwide.

The fact that both this and the XBOne are tracking ahead of their predecessors bodes well for the console industry.

Remember when analysts were predicting the console business was finished and people were moving to streaming devices.

How about when the Wii U bombed out of the gate and apologists claiming people have stopped buying consoles.

Why? DQ sells consoles not vice versa. If Wii U had the franchise it would do colossal numbers too. It's probably the biggest franchise in Japan.

Why put it on Wii U?

Looking at the trends, PS4 is clearly going to be more successful and is the more powerful console (so they can make a better game). There is literally no reason to put it on Wii U, at all!

They should put it on XBO then. :p Get some momentum behind that platform.

Distracted at work and my post was late (it was a reply to Wii's but didn't appear to be).

Yeah I know, my post seemed a bit of a lame one, as per my edit I got distracted at work and it didn't come across well as it appeared to be a reply to Sheikah when it was actually a reply to Wii.

True, but they do tend to chase the most popular games machine at the time. Why they put IX on DS after VIII was on PS2, I don't know, but they did (the less said about X being a Wii MMO the better!)

With XI, I can't understand why they wouldn't want to put it on the most powerful console (as long as it's successful in Japan, which Sony's latest is). Personally, I just hope they put the darn thing on PS4, if only so I can play with the controller plugged in via USB!

Something that Dazzybee should take note of. :D

Actually I once looked at the old forum on the internet archive thing and his posts pre-smartphone days were the same. I think he's just a linguistic rebel :heh:
