Wow, congrats :) When do you start? And to save me going back a whole page, what will you be doing?

A whole page, the horror.

It's a customer service job, so a bit like Jagex, emails etc. I start 5th Sept so plenty of time to find somewhere and it's like £17k so it's only one grand cut from Jagex and it's day work.

Wheeeee. :D

Damn, 17k. Makes me think I should be earning a lot more than I am.

Problem is I kinda like my working environment and the work itself is good most of the time, don't know if I want to risk going to a job with as much as twice the pay, if it could be a far less enjoyable working environment.

I wouldn't sacrifice somewhere nice for money, Jagex was good money at £18k, but at the same time I was working nights at 10 hours a day, it wasn't easy, nor will Spotify be (although it's days/evenings.) but as long as the environment is good I was willing to be on much less.

Plus the properties are much harder to pay for here, Sheffield you could get a decent flat for £400, here you'd be lucky for £600. :)

Congrats :)

I went to a 'recruitment day' at the football stadium. My mate works there counting the money on match days and said there was bar work going, so I figured I'd give it a try. The interviewer ended up telling me all about a team leader position that he thinks I might be suited to. It'd only be work for matchdays buut hey it's money, right? A step in the right direction. Should hear back tomorrow morning.

Also may have some turn-the-world-upside-down 'work' news one of these days...

I would expect you to be on more than that as what you do is quite specialist o_O

Congrats Nightwolf :D Seems to be a good day for both of us!

Its not really, it's still customer service, even when I was at Jagex, besides, straight out of uni being on 17-18k is awesome.

So I'm happy. :)

I personally expect £22k+ :heh:

(I'm not getting it but as is life)

£22k is a lot to ask for a customer service position, I mean I know a few friends have landed positions in banks that earn less than I do.

Oh no I meant I expect a job that is worth 22k, not I expect a customer service job to be worth that.

Hell, I expect to be King of the Fucking Universe.

Got the job!

They were supposed to call me at 11am to confirm stuff, instead at 2 I got a call from the stadium;

"hey james, so you're working saturday right?"

"... am I?"

"... Well you put your name down, didn't you?"

"I only went for an interview yesterday... are you saying I got the job?"

"... One second ... Er, yes! Sorry, we thought Stu confirmed it with you at the interview yesterday."

... So yeah! I don't even know how much I'll be paid or what it is I'm doing, by my mate (who works at the stadium) reckons that judging by their instructions, I've been given the team leader role in one of the kiosks. I'm to turn up at 9am, and am likely to be there 'til 9pm. Having never done any bar work in my life I'll be responsible for up to 10 people and 2,000 customers. Job's only during home matches so I'll be working sat, tues, sat then two weeks off. Means I can look at getting a supplementary job or get some volunteering under my belt. All a bit lol-some at the moment. Woo!

(EDIT: Ell; Brighton and Hove Albion :) )

Congrats to all, looks like there's some good luck on the job front at the moment. I have my annual review at 10 today, if I'm not promoted (I already know I won't be) I'm going to be seriously fucked off.

Congrats James :) As they say the only thing you need to get a job is to have one so hopefully you should be able to get a second soon. Any chance you could impress them so much they give you another position there too? Although I suppose they'd only be open match days anyway...

Yay! Well done Jay, sounds like things are going your way for a change, :).

Relocating is kinda cool, looking at flats and stuff, 2 bedroom flats seem to be cheaper - imo which is weird, so I might end up with a two bed flat for 525pcm (If I like it on friday.)

Thanks guys :)

Ash; I've been promoted before I've even started, from humble barperson to team leader person! Match day stuff is basic, for sure - 3 days of work in the next 10 days... then nothing for nearly a month, so it's not great. There may be other work buuut not holding out. Pocket money for now!

Just had a recruiter on the phone for a job back in London. Sounds like exactly what I do and I'd quite like some experience in a different company. £45k is the starting negotiation point so hopefully they can up that a bit when they see the skills. Got a few more to apply for but it's time to start working now damnit.

Managed to get a full time 12 month contract at Cash Generators in Hanley (Stoke). It's 5 days a week Monday - Friday and by this time next month I'm actualy gonna be in Charge of roughly 35- 40% of the whole shop. Salary works out at roughly a grand a month. It's in Electrical retail which is what I've had experience in before and its the first Full time job I've had, since so far I've been in education all this time
