After the whole trademark filing the other month it did appear it was gonna make it over here afterall, i'm just surprised it's NoE that are doing the buisness.

11th April, 2011 – Nintendo and NAMCO BANDAI Games Europe S.A.S., a publisher and developer of interactive entertainment software, today confirmed they have entered into a distribution agreement for Solatorobo: Red the Hunter, a game for the Nintendo DS family of consoles which is due to launch across Europe later this year. Under the terms of the agreement Nintendo will be responsible for the sales, marketing and distribution of the game throughout European territories including Russia and Turkey, as well as South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

In Solatorobo: Red the Hunter, prepare to enter a world of epic fantasy action in a role playing game set on the mythical floating islands of the Shepherd Republic. Take on the story of Red Savarin, an anthropomorphic dog with the ability to take a human form, as he does battle with giant robotic “mecha†and other enemies as he explores the floating islands.

This engrossing quest is set amid picturesque anime graphics produced by some of the world’s leading animators and manga names such as Nobuteru Yūki (The Vision of Escaflowne) and movies and cut scenes designed by Madhouse (Marvel Anime, Ninja Scroll, DeathNote, CardCaptor Sakura).

3DS? What's that? :D

Never heard of Solatorobo (should I have?) but it could be decent enough going by those videos. I shall have a hunt around for info.

That dual screen handheld Nintendo console you bought the other week...? ::shrug:

Nice one. Remember seeing the game a while ago and thought it looked great but never thought we'd get a localisation, so well done for NoE for giving us the chance (although I suspect it'll be a rather limited release in stores). Another reason to keep playing the ol' DS, which has seen more action recently from me than my 3DS.

Really liking this new turn for Nintendo where they're not shying away from helping to localise titles from third parties. Long may it continue I say.

Indeed.

Although I'd prefer it if they concentrated on their own titles first, i.e. Tomodachi Collection & Tingle 2.

I slammed my preorder down for this today. With it being made by Namco it probably will have a low production number, although with Nintendo handling the distribution this may not be the case. Still, I may aswell get it while it's out and about in the wild or I could end up paying alot more for it later on when it's getting flogged on ebay.

I'm gonna wait for some reviews and hopefully get it later in the summer. Thinking of DS releases I still haven't got Okamiden or Dragon Quest VI. I'll have to get those all ordered up... or wait for you to send me your cast offs.

Here's a fun fact I just read:

Remember a few months back when we told you about Solatorobo's 100-commercial run in the span of 8 hours? Yes, there really were 100 different commercials for the game, run within an 8 hour time span. It seems this commercial blitz was recognized by the team at Guinness World Records, as Solatorobo now holds an official record for the advertising block.

Gamepro preview by Kat Bailey.

As for the demo itself, much of my time was spent puttering through the opening area. which mostly serves as a tutorial for the rest of the game. Red--the game's canine hero--pilots a mech that looks a bit like that of Tron Bonne from Mega Man Legends; its main capability being that it can lift heavy objects, including enemies. Picking them up and slamming them to the ground--or against one another--is the most efficient way to dispose of a foe, and quite satisfying as well.

While there's some action though, Solatorobo is also a bit of a "puzzle RPG." Sure, you're occasionally catching missiles and chucking them back at massive airships, but you also spend a lot of time hopping out of your mech and manipulating your environment. From what I can see, the main challenge is getting from Point A to Point B, which definitely involves more than simply fighting your way out.

Decided to buy this today because I saw it on sale in GAME. Played the opening segment so far and it's really unique and cool. Recommended!

Checked out this game from GameFAQs, and they said that Namco is the publisher of this game in Europe. Are they wrong, or does Namco actually publish this, while NoE handles distributing?

I definitely saw Bamco mentioned in the game's intro, so yeah.

Anyways, bought the game and played up til the opening. Loved every second of it. Can't wait to play more. :3

Correct. And Xseed are handling distribution in America.

Got mine today despite GAME shipping it Tuesday, had a quick go and seems pretty good, like some of the dialogue so far. Not massively impressed with the combat, hope it improves later on.

Didn't know the game was DSi enhanced and had DLC though :yay:

Glad they brought it to our shores. It's a great game, full of character and immersive story. The combat could be better, but it's not aweful in any was.

I bought it on impuls, but it's all good. And man, does ik look delicious! Wel, for DS. ;)

I have actually started planning on buying this game. I just bought myself a 3DS, and I'm in need of a good JRPG. Would be a good choice while waiting for September and Xenoblade Chronicles.

Absolutely. Although the 3DS washes out the colours, the slidepad makes the game a lot more playable. You would do well to purchase this to fill in the next few weeks bereft of RPG gaming.

I've played through the first six chapters or so now, and the awesomeness just keeps coming. Never a dull moment in this game. I love it.

Also, the "Aid In The Search" quest is hilarious. x3

I was reading a review today and it was saying the game is quite easy and the combat whilst fun enough, lacks any real depth - is that true?

I wouldn't mind a new game to play as I've not had anything since I got my 3DS and whilst this is definitely on my radar of possibilities, I'm still not quite sold.

Quite easy? Nah. Combat lacking "any real depth"? Probably.

Well, there's not much variety in the combat system - most battles are just "(Avoid attack ->) Lift object/enemy -> Throw object/enemy" - but the variety of the monsters makes most battles seem quite unique anyways.

As for the difficulty, it can feel easy at times, but it quickly escalates into just the right amount of challenging.
