The Peeps
I don't like it when people say pwned, just shows they can't spell owned. Come to think of it I don't like it when people say owned either :P hehehe First saw it on Mohaa once Owned was getting tired. Class game
Bren
first time i saw it was CS, after playing for like 2 years and ppl saying OWNED, PWNDED started to crop up, think its shite personally.
fatnickc
Apparently it all started in a rather important match being watched by many people of a certain online game. One of the players misspelt owned as pwned, and so it's gone on..
EEVILMURRAY
I consider it to me a misspell of pwn, a simple miss key, but someone said it was short for "Power Own" which if true it would be more widely known.
scubahood
If you say owned, pwned or raped when you kill someone then you are a geek and need to get a life
Blackfox
If you say owned, pwned or raped when you kill someone then you are a geek and need to get a life What if you're saying it in a joking manner to wind people up?

mario114
If you say owned, pwned or raped when you kill someone then you are a geek and need to get a life I don't see anything wrong with owned, it's a simle way of saying "i kicked you butt". Though people who say raped are just sad and need to get a life.
Nevahom
I saw it on CS too, it can be a wind up, just depend if the target is a sore loser or not
Haver
I think Warcraft's involved. But that might be something else.
Nevahom
Its just a general term for someone rubbing it in your face when they win/frag
Charlie
If you say owned, pwned or raped when you kill someone then you are a geek and need to get a life What about "omfg lololol, i own3d u n00b"?
Haver
Its just a general term for someone rubbing it in your face when they win/frag One theory is that it was first used when a map designer accidentally typed "pwn" instead of "own", in the game Starcraft (or possibly Warcraft). The game was then released with this spelling error. When a player has been beat, the message "______ has been pwned" shows up. The game producers later fixed this with patches, but it remained in the vocabulary of 1337 or leet speakers.
Platty
but it remained in the vocabulary of 1337 or leet speakers. I hate people who use that. It's almost as bad as txt speak!
Nevahom
right on!! plus saying owned to one kill is big headed on most games like CS. multiple kills warrants it though. or if the recently deceased was a camping little git with magnum rifle. Then you just unload the magazine into their carcasse
scubahood
If you're saying it as a joke its fine but when all these americans say it after every kill it is a tad annoying. Its like well done you got a kill but theres no need to be so competitive
Lammie
scubes........have ye nay played Counter Strike? It's all about being as annoying to your opponent as possible. Owario
What is really annoying is half of my bloody school is saying it now, and pretty much all of them have no idea what it means or where it came from.
