....and darker!

I just got to thinking how much i DETEST the winter. My poor ankle is throbbing like a bitch and my hands are ice cold.

And its uber sad going to work when its dark and leaving when its dark again... I'm missing the whole daylight god darn it!

The one thing I like about winter... spring is next, and its my favourite season! Yeay : peace:

Talk to meeeee.

Winter always gives me such vivid memories after the fact. The entire...atmosphere and ambiance of life changes. Things feel different when I think back on them. But yeah, sometimes cold isn't nice. I much prefer it to excessive heat though.

I've come to the recent conclusion that winter has become my favourite season. The cold and the darkness, while potentially depressing by itself, is in my head associated with sitting indoors in the warmth, drinking hot cocoa and reading a good book or something equally cosy. Also, in my head, cold/dark weather and Christmas seem to be fairly inseperable, meaning I've been in a Christmas mood since the middle of October - and I frakkin' love Christmas! :D

Winter can be very depressing just for the fact there's little sunlight.

I'm not even a summery kind of guy, but there's a difference between it being sunny with blinds shut and it being dark (duh) that has an effect on mental well being in odd ways.

What I've started to do this winter however is just make as much as I can with mornings as possible.

Up nice and early with enough time before work to do nice things like exercise that then makes me feel good for the rest of the day.

Then when darkness falls I like to get some arty stuff done (arty stuff in the dark is always best) so the darkness doesn't feel like a hindrance.

Oh, and bed early.

Last night was ridiculous. I figured I'd lay in bed doing revision cause I'm feeling like utter shit, after a while time to call it a night.

My bed is right next to the window, which is single glazed, that does fuck all to insulate the room (Surely single glazed homes should be illegal?). So I turn the heating on max, go to sleep.

Wake up with a fat migraine on top of my illness, the heating went kaput during the night and I could see my fucking breath as well in my room.

I love the cold, but not when I'm ill please.

Winter is awesome it takes apart on who are weak and who are strong, it feels awesome going out in very little to wear for a full on run to finally finish and be fully warm and sweat is coming down your face even though it ain't warm. I love summer too as well so either way I don't care :P

Last thought: Oh and going for a run in a rain or riding in the rain is the best feeling EVER if you get to where you want to be. xD

Winter for me means shovelling a foot or so of snow every week, walking to class in -30 or colder temperatures, and the angle of the sun shifting just enough that it makes it nearly impossible to view my computer monitor during certain hours. The part of Canada where I live has the exact same climate as Siberia.

See that would kill me. Its not even in the negatives here and my joints are throbbing on a constant basis. You lucky lucky guy :P

No bugs. Love it.

This.

I like winter, but not in a house without adequate heating! Anyone got any (inexpensive) tips for keeping warm? So far I've been relying on wearing as many layers as possible. Somehow I think sitting in front of the computer doing college work most of the time doesn't help...

I love winter. Maybe I'm weird but I like it getting dark early, seeing frost on the windows, sat indoors all warm and cozy. Also it just reminds me that Christmas is close and there's always the potential for it to snow.

The cold is manageable. It's easier to warm yourself up in winter than cool yourself down in summer.

I love rain. Walking in rain clears my head immensely. Not a fan of cold though.

I burn too easily too but I still prefer summer. The best days are days where it is lukewarm and dry and the sun is hidden behind clouds.

Some computers get really warm, write a pig of a program to get the cpu going :p

Winter is awesome, love wearing thick, warm clothing and going out and about in the cold weather. Wasn't a fan of last winter, with the high negative temperatures and the thick, un-melting ice. At least the main roads were gritted.

I love all the seasons, but the only 2 issues i have with summer are

  1. The hot, sticky nights where sleep is near impossible
  2. Wasps (as i have an allergy to the stingers)

Winter = Christmas and New Year, 2 of the best times of the year for me. Love spending time with the family, and in the pub celebrating the new year.

I assume you mean the physical kind because some people associate some flu bugs with this time of year. Which would everyone prefer? I think I'd prefer a mild flu. Lockets can't keep away annoying flies.

But I am displeased about the temperature. Especially in the early morning walking to work (5am) But on some occasions it is pr0, getting properly warm in bed and knowing you're not going to wake up boiling and having to rearrange the blanket as you might in summer. And pornographic snowmen.

Yeah, cycling to uni while getting drenched to the bone then having to sit through four hours of lectures. Brilliant. /Sarcasm

I thought the gym toughen you up, looks like it did the opposite....*Sigh* :heh:

Waterproofs. Everyone at work thinks it's funny when it rains and I'm cycling, but I'm in a cocoon of waterproof warmth that means the only parts of me that get wet are my feet (stupid leaky shoes) and my face. So they're all idiots.

You must look really cool.

I hate the summer. It's too cold to go outside It's too wet and windy to cycle to college. You have to wear billions of layers when you go out and when you go in somewhere you have to take them all off again. There's no sun, I can't tan. Everyone's a moody bastard. No one wants to go anywhere because it's too cold or too wet. Summer all the way.

I personally prefer cooler weather as I find the extreme heat of summer to be too uncomfortable. It's so much easier to warm up than it is to cool down, but I guess it's easy for me to say seeing as I've never experienced a snowy winter. The worst we get in Sydney is lots of rain and blistering winds, but no snow :/. My partner and I are planning on visiting his family in England next year though *fingers crossed* so I may just see my first white Christmas! Yay!
