Titanic 3D Release Confirmed By James Cameron For 100th Anniversary

I've always maintained Titanic was James Cameron's career acme, and it seems even he can't face doing another 3D movie from scratch, after spending 15 years and over $200m making Avatar.

He's told USA Today that they're "targeting spring of 2012 for the release, which is the 100 year anniversary of the sailing of the ship." Sailing of the ship, and sinking of the ship—don't forget all those dead bodies floating in the water that'll be popping out of cinema screens, larger than life. It'll be a 3D monstermash not seen since My Bloody Valentine 3D! And that's not even before we've seen Jack and Rose steaming up a Ford Model T in the hold, or Jack doing a naked portrait of Rose, or even (heaven help us) Rose as an old woman.

Titanic 3D sounds like my worst nightmare come true.

I'm one of the few people on here who loved Titanic but I'm not sure it'll work in 3D. I hope it does though because the sinking of the Titanic part would be awesome in 3D.

I couldn't help but do a search, and this popped up

I don't think it would work, i mean it was filmed in 2D. Even with the tech, i don't think it would be a good transfer over to 3D.

I'd rather have that Titanic 2 released in cinemas. At least that's entertaining as well as awful.

Haha!! I saw about 10 minutes of that. It was so bad it hurt. I'm still getting over the fact that it exists at all.

My eyes bled and i was contemplating suicide when watching Titanic 2

I'd love to see the marketing slant for this. "To mark the 100th anniversary of the loss of hundreds of lives we're re-releasing The Titanic in new 3D. Watch as the iceberg hits you!"

(still not seen this film actually)

All of you suckers who watched Avatar (especially those who went multiple times) deserve this.

*waits for someone to take this comment seriously*

Titanic? You havn't seen Titanic? I don't understand how someone gets to 23 and manages to avoid seeing Titanic.

I had better things to do with my time ::shrug:

I didn't think Titanic was all that bad to be honest.

Still doesn't need a 3D face lift though. 3D works fine for the "ooh look at the pretty action" type of films, but Titanic was about the story and romance, neither of which would be enhanced by the adding of 3D.

Goafer are you fucking nuts? Kate Winslet's tits in 3D? I'm massively up for it.

Oh yeah, that will be epic, but I was on about what the director intended the movie to be about, not why most people watched it.

Let's face it, men watched it for K-Win's tits and women watched it for L-Cap's boyish good looks.

I can imagine how you two will be disappointed if her tits aren't in 3d.

To be honest, I'll be disappointed if there is anything less that two massive, porn star sizes norks flapping around the cinema like 2 angry pigs searching for truffles.

I basically want to be like motorboating 2 Hindenbergs.

Can't they just re-release it for a stint in the cinema normal style? I wanna see the tits that took my nipple cherry again in glorious 4000x2000, and my eyes can't do 3D.
