I completed it all on Vet, mostly cool, but there are like 3 or 5 particular bits which are just a case of bad game design. The tunnel is one of them, yeah! (for lack of checkpoints... you go through it all and die just at the end? Start over... which is ridiculous)

But the barrel part? Just ridiculous.

It's better than WaW in general, though... in WaW enemies had infinite grenades, so you couldn't even stop to catch your breath most of the time... *sigh*

I didn't find the barrel bit 2 bad tbh, the standouts for me was the tunnels and the bit on the vehicle on second to last level 'rebirth'.

I never even managed to complete WaW on veteran, may give it ago again but i just feel like i will break the disc in frustration!!

I gave up on WaW on Normal mode.

Then you were being a fag, Cube. Seriously, up 'till hardened it's quite a cool game (at least the russian/german part... didn't care for the american/japanese part of the campaign, myself). But on Vet it was just terrible. Seriously, anyone who completed it on Vet is a masochist.

Holy shit, I've only just realized... the Enfield is a motherfucking beast!! I sort of "skipped" it and went straight to the FAMAS, since everyone was saying it wasn't that great, but dear god, is it good!

Latest PS3 firmware update brings the bans for Black Ops hacks

blops-multi-122210.jpg

Dirty, dirty Black Ops cheaters that downloaded the new PS3 firmware, update 3.56, are finding out exactly what Sony meant when it said the patch would help bolster "security." A grip of consoles have been permanently banned from Black Ops multiplayer servers for hacking or cheating after their users installed the new firmware -- though some of the outspoken among the banned are contesting the presumption that they are cheaters on the game's official forums. (Which is like, the first thing you'd do if you were a dirty, dirty cheater.)

In a seemingly cooperative attack executed by two mortal enemies, firmware 3.56 joins last week's mandatory Xbox Live update, which also stopped pirated and modded copies of Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 in their tracks. Is Activision's cash cow so powerful that the publisher can request its own console updates at will? If that's the case, Activision: Would you please, please ask Sony to add cross-game chat?

So who's going to be getting the new map pack tomorrow?

I personally have a love/hate relationship with Black Ops, but will definitly be getting the map pack!

Is it the same as Modern Warfare 2, as in they come out on XBL before PSN?

Correct, not sure of the exact date it will debut on the PSN but it's sometime in February.

Well Stadium is awesome, really enjoying that level, especially on Domination. Managed to have some great games on that level.

Discovery - I'm slowly starting to like more and more, again Domination is brilliant, Flag B is so open. Get a good spot to guard it (if your team have it) and you can have a great K/D ratio

Kowloon - I FUCKING HATE - wow... I don't think I'll ever enjoy this level. I Cant recall one spot on the map where your safe. It seems that at any point in the level you can be taken out from multiple directions at multiple heights in the level.

Berlin - Played this level the least, and not really familiar with it yet, so cant judge. I like the theme though, takes me back to COD 1 / 2 days on PC which is welcome.

Stadium - The worst match I've ever had on Black Ops.

Kowloon - Enjoyable if the other team isn't camping.

Berlin - The middle section with the guns seems pointless. Other than that it seems to be a good tactical map.

Discovery - Very enjoyable, with loads of great places.

I watched a making of doc on this and Treyarch said they broke several of their golden rules when designing this one so it would feel different. I really like the look of the maps though, however I would really like to see Asylum and Upheaval from WAW, although I know a lot of people didn't like seeing old maps in MW2.

Sadly it will now never happen, but I'd have loved to have seen CoD and CoD2's maps either directly imported or reskinned (a-la Chinatown in MW and the updated Brecourt in MW2) for the next IW CoD. Some of those maps were absolutely amazing, especially with old-style Headquarters. Pavlov, Toujane, Carentan, Depot, Dawnville/St. Mere Eglise, Harbour, Railyard/Stalingrad... Actually, add Crash, Shipment, Overgrown, Vacant and Crossfire, all from CoD4, and that would be one epic multiplayer map pack...

You deserve a medal!

It's so true. That's one thing that pisses me off when buying DLC Maps for each Cod or MW game, they never carry over. Granted the maps just bought for Black Ops are the first I've bought since Modern Warfare1. But still, there are some great levels on each game from COD4,W@W,MW2, and some great maps from COD1 as you've mentioned.

Do Activision actually own the rights to the maps? or are IW & Treyarch each responsible for them? Cause Activision should do something along the lines of the Halo2 Map Pack but make them continue on thoughout each game in the series, maybe baring a few of the shitter ones.

If they could somehow beef up the options in Combat Training I'd be a happy bunny.

Yeah sometimes when I get frustrated with multiplayer i'll switch to Combat training, and have a laugh, but just TDM is slightly lame, would be good if they could introduce new game types with the bots. Domination would be quite cool. or Demolition.

Anyway, how bad are the ps3 hacks so far?

I've recently started playing Blops again, after falling out with it. I have not seen one hacked game in the 50 or so I have played so far.

Both Modern Warfare's, however, are completely unplayable.

I love being able to play split screen online on this. Although it can make for confusion when you think you hear enemy footsteps but it's your friend's on the other half of the screen! Haha
