Tales Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 So if you use the pokemon in battle it's name is lowercase, even though it was uppercase when you transferred him? I know that if you go to the summary page it will say (for example) "Name: Rattata", but if you look in the top right of bottom screen it'll say "RATTATA", along with the gender and level. Google searching reveals that pretty much everyone says they'll be uppercase so I don't understand how yours aren't... Seems like I was mistaken. They're only lower case in the boxes. Otherwise they are uppercase. Don't see why it's bothersome when you aren't using them though.

It's because I'm weird and like everything to match no matter what It would be such a simple thing for Nintendo to have addressed though
Ashley Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I'm trying to play this without looking at any guides/serebii/whatever. Its difficult. How am I supposed to know what evolves with a moon stone etc?
Tellyn Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I'm trying to play this without looking at any guides/serebii/whatever. Its difficult. How am I supposed to know what evolves with a moon stone etc? Use it randomly on Pokémon until you hit jackpot?
Ike Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I'm trying to play this without looking at any guides/serebii/whatever. Its difficult. How am I supposed to know what evolves with a moon stone etc? Try using a Moon Stone on the Pokemon? :P
Serebii Posted March 13, 2011 Author Posted March 13, 2011 I'm trying to play this without looking at any guides/serebii/whatever. Its difficult. How am I supposed to know what evolves with a moon stone etc? Ouch
Ashley Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 That was merely one example :p Nothing person Sebi. Just figured as Nintendo/Game Freak have gone for the whole "its like starting all over again!" angle I thought I'd go into it blind. Also I walked across that big ass bridge earlier. Wanted to say "alright Game Freak we get it, you can do 3D."
Debug Mode Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 ...I went over 999,999 pokedollars. WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT? DO I BURN THE CARTRIDGE OR SEND IT BACK TO NINTENDO? HOW DO I GET TO KANTO SO I CAN FUCK OFF THE BIKE SALESMAN?
Aneres11 Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Wondered if someone could help me out? I am looking to evolve my Karrablast into a Escavalier but the only way it will evolve is if it is traded for a Shelmet (which will then evolve the Shelmet into Accelgor). Is there a way to do it alone or can one of you guys help me out with it? Anyone got a Shelmet they want evolving that I could help you out with? Would really appreciate it. Thanks
Gentleben Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I've just this moment caught a Shelmet, can trade now if you like? 1119 9483 8727

See I think as someone who missed all this pokemoness do I really have to rely on resources such as serebi.net and such like or have a frustrating experience of trial and error if I don't?

I'd say the absolute, 100% most vital thing is the weakness and resistance chart.
DomJcg Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 The question is: would you have played red and blue without a guide? and still have known what you were doing? I had to buy a guide, as did everyone i knew
Ellmeister Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 E4 were easy, since I was way under levelled and still beat them without too much hassle. As for later battles. I got pwned =[ No trainers to help me get my level up so have to go level grinding against weak pokemon which will take AGES.
Diageo Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I'm going at it natural with no guides too. It's very good fun. Surprises around every corner.
The Peeps Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Me too I think it's great that you really don't need to use HM's at all. Even in victory road Strength is only needed to make an easy way back... I'm not sure if I prefer this more linear cave or previous style. Thinking back to Pokémon Red, I would never had gotten through those caves without a guide.
Paj! Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 The only guide I'm using is Serebii for checking when Pokemon I've caught evolve/when they learn certain moves. Not spoiling myself with Pokes I haven't seen in-game yet. Never know what Pokes the leaders will have/what type they'll specialise in etc.
Ashley Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 The question is: would you have played red and blue without a guide? and still have known what you were doing? I had to buy a guide, as did everyone i knew I did have a guide (or at least a dex) but still. It feels weird that you should have to have a guide. It seems to go against the core principles of gaming!

Do Audino farming with the Lucky Egg, and the EntraLink's EXP Point Power if you can have a friend give it to you. You'll get about 10,000 EXP from a Level 50 Audino in Route 11
heroicjanitor Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 The audino farming, is that considered a mistake? I don't think ds games get patched but I haven't much time to play right now. If I leave it for now will it be patched before I can use it? Well I could play offline regardless actually :p
Serebii Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 It's not an error. Chansey was quite similar in the exp yield in past games, we can just monopolise on it better
ReZourceman Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Do Audino farming with the Lucky Egg, and the EntraLink's EXP Point Power if you can have a friend give it to you. You'll get about 10,000 EXP from a Level 50 Audino in Route 11 I do not understand what has just been said.
Serebii Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Find a patch of grass and just keep walking left/right, up/down etc near it, soon it'll start to shake, walk to the shaking spot and chances are high it's an Audino. Audino gives a massive amount of EXP Lucky Egg increases EXP gained by 50% EXP Point Power doubles EXP gained for a period of time
Ike Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 I was a bit further away from Reshiram than I thought, but I beat the 8th gym last night, funny had an ice Cream beat a load of dragons Off to Victory Road now, but I was told an unusual sandstorm has appeared, which I'm guessing is some kind of Legendary Poke? Might go check that out first.
