Am I the only person who thinks that the number is amazingly low for a war?

Its a conflict war hasnt been declared.

Its around 1% of the people out there. But if you or someone you love is in that 1% then its 100%

It dosent matter if its 1 or 100000 its not any less sad.

I kinda agree with both, when you think about cold hard numbers, 100 doesn't seem all that much.

But when you think about the soft side, the families at home that wont have their son/daughter/mum/dad home for christmas... the number just seems horrendous. :(

Aye, It's still sad. But loads of people seem to be protesting about lack of supplies and stuff, stating how many people are killed over there when the percentage isn't much different to the percentage of people who die in the UK overall.

Well the point is (not that this is the place to discuss it) that the govenment have ha 8 years to sort there shit out and buy the correct gear. When you sign on the dotted line you enter a contract with the govenment which could very well end up in your death, everyone is aware of this fact and 100 lads have made good on that this year. But also in that contract the MOD have a duty of care over you to make that possablilty as slight as possable. The fact is they havent done so. The govenment have failed to provide the correct kit or troops. Or even give the correct backing to go for a win in afghanistan. And after 8 years its about time we had all of these things. Also dont forget that for every one person killed there are mny more with life changing injurys ie loss of one or more limbs, blindness, brain damage etc.

Then there are many many many more lads with wounds, deafness and PTSD. Many of these things would be avoidable with the correct equipment. Obviously not all as war/combat will always result in death and injury.

I onlyposted my original post to mark the passing of 100 young en who have given there lives for there country.

does anyone else hate the term 'our lads' or is it just me?

I hate you! Does anyone else, or is it just me?

As for that Dog stuff, I'm not a doggie person (hehe, I am really, but a different kind of doggie person, k) but, that is really awful stuff. Cowardice really.

Just watched the video again, that look in the Dog's face before he is placed above the rail, she really doesn't know what's going on. It's cruel how they can pick on an animal like that who won't fight back. :(

Tiger Woods Affairs.

1.) Rachel Uchitel. The club hostess was the first of the women to be linked to Woods after the National Enquirer reported that she traveled to Australia to be with Woods during a golf tournament there. So far, she has denied the affair.

2.) Jamie Grubbs. The 24-year-old reality show contestant and cocktail waitress claims she carried on a 31-month-long affair with Woods until his crash last month. She offered a Woods voicemail to prove it.

3.) Kalika Moquin. The 27-year-old club manager from Las Vegas is reported to have had a brief sexual relationship with Woods. She would neither confirm nor deny the report.

4.) Cori Rist. The 31-year-old swimsuit model reportedly met Woods at a Manhattan club last year before they began a sexual relationship that led to Woods flying her out to various secret locations for hook-ups, and her introducing the golfer to her 7-year-old son.

5.) Jamie Jungers. The 26-year-old, who sold her story to a British newspaper, is a former employee of Trashy Girls Lingerie. She said she met Woods in Las Vegas.

6.) Mindy Lawton. The 33-year-old pancake house waitress from Orlando claims she was dumped by Woods in 2007. According to the Post, it was her affair with Woods that was caught on camera by the National Enquirer, when he was snapped dropping her off at her trailer park. The threatening news later led to a Woods Men’s Fitness cover in exchange for the magazine’s silence about the alleged affair, the New York Post reports.

7.) Holly Sampson. The 36-year-old from Los Angeles is a former porn star, who has starred in such films as “OMG, Stop Tickling Me” and “Flying Solo 2.” According to the Sun, she has neither confirmed nor denied her affair with Woods.

8.) Unidentified Alleged Mistress No. 8. A former cocktail waitress from Orlando, Fla. does want to reveal her identity yet, according to attorney Michael O’Quinn. At the time the affair allegedly began, she was 20 years old and met Woods at the Roxy in Orlando, where she was a VIP server.

9.) Unidentified Alleged Mistress No. 9 is reported to be a “sexy” British TV presenter who was single at the time, but is now married.

10.) Unidentified Alleged Mistress No. 10. is reported in a UK paper to be a “sex-addicted cougar.”

Isn't it well known fact that the Maddie kidnapper uploaded a video to Youtube of him doing so?

It was more the irony that a few thousand people can track a dog killer but million can't find a girl....sad

*sigh* You still don't get it. Look, it isn't ironic when the circumstances are that different. The kidnapper left no hard clues. For all we know, the parents did it themselves! Whereas the animal abusers PUT A FRIGGIN' VIDEO ON YOUTUBE!

^ Am I the only one facepalming here?

Absolutely not ...

I think he means actually looking for the girl herself, and not the kidnappers. So, "it's amazing that they can spot the person from that video, but not find Maddie."

Doesn't mean I agree with him or anything, haha. But I think that's what he's trying to say. It does help that the viewers were able to spot what City/Town that man was in from the video, so then the rest fell into place afterwards. He had no choice but to hand himself in, otherwise he would have been lynched. And rightfully so.

Dont let them hear you say that. The sun found out the expensive way that you shoudnt say that haha. Even if it probably is true.

I remember me and a few friends were having a little chat about this subject, and we all thought that the most likeliest explanation for her disappearance was that the parents had killed her (maybe by accident, maybe not) and then tried to cover up her death with this huge campaign.

Admittedly, when we thought this, we thought "haha, that's really farfetched." But, I dunno. There have been no solid suspects, no solid sightings of the child. The whole world has been looking for her, and nobody has even caught a glance. The sightings that have been reported have been huge errors or mistakes. Is it that crazy to suggest that the parents are covering it up by detracting the attention from themselves and placing the attention elsewhere? On these sightings.

I'm not saying that's my official stance on things, but it makes you wonder.

IMO, The kidnapper would have burnt her and disposed of the ashes in the sea the moment he saw how big the campaign was. They made it so it was impossible for the kidnapper to move her around, so it would be the only option for them not get caught.

Calm down, Dan. :heh:

Millions of people looking for one girl and finding nothing is odd. How on gods name did they find dog killer anyway

If you look at that original article posted by the Haggis:

"Outraged viewers on Lithuanian websites and international sites such as Reddit.com chased after the man’s identity, and police, with help from web users, determined the dog was dropped from a bridge in the Vilkija district in the city of Kaunas, the second largest city in Lithuania.

Police said a website they identified as http://www.15.min.lt was instrumental in identifying the man as Svajunas Beniuk."

So, it was combination of a few things. Being able to spot which bridge the dog was thrown from, enabling them to then determine or narrow down which City the guy was from. As the video gained notoriety on the internet, the guy had to hand himself in, or else he would have been lynched. His face was plastered anywhere.

The difference with that and Maddie is that yes, her picture was shown all around the world. But, we don't know the identity of the kidnappers. There were no credible witnesses at the scene, and there have been few leads since. The difference with this is that we are shown the face of the man, we also get a good look at that bridge and scenary, meaning it was easier for Lithuanian Internet Users and the Police to close the net on him.

From the sounds of things, the man also stayed put within Lithuania. He didn't try to escape the country. Meaning he was stationary. Maddie's Kidnapper(s) have fled the scene. Meaning it is much, much harder to find them.

IMO, The kidnapper would have burnt her and disposed of the ashes in the sea the moment he saw how big the campaign was. They made it so it was impossible for the kidnapper to move her around, so it would be the only option for them not get caught.

That's one possible theory, yeah. But, if the ashes have been burned and disposed of in the sea, then there's no way to prove it has been done so. I won't be surprised if this case is never solved. There's no evidence, no real leads, no credible sightings. It's a dead end. For now anyway.

Yeah, but same difference, ne? The point being the huge difference in solid leads to go by.

Imo, The difference is that it's harder to hit a moving target. The Lithuanian man stayed within the same City, and the net quickly closed in on him. In Maddie's case, the kidnappers were already on the move before the news even broke. By the time the appeal had started, they could have literally been anywhere.

I think Stuwii was just pointing out that "millions of people can spot this guy, but they can't spot what a little girl looks like." To me, many kids her age look very similar to her. What if the kidnapper had dyed her hair to disguise her appearance? Many things could have happened. Plus, it's not just limited to one location (Lithuania in that other guy's case). So, you're looking for a young girl who could be anywhere in the world. Not easy at all.

There was a dit that her parents were swingers and they had doped the kids up so they could go out swingng and they would be asleep (remember at elast 1 was a Dr) But that she had OD. It was probably in the sunday sport or something mind. But i think its more likely this than that she will be found alive.

Ummm what?

I'm genuinely confused what this is supposed to say. They were out swinging and someone overdosed?

I'd imagine the swinging part was made up by the Sunday Sport...

(and they are both doctors)

Sorry the dit was that they had doped the kids up. So that they could go out swinging but maddie OD. So the parents covered it up. Like i say im not saying it is the gen truth. Just a story that was out there and that its more believable than that she is still alive.

Oh a conspiracy? I'm sure as doctors they would know the correct dosage to give a child. But I highly doubt it as sordid as all that. I doubt she's alive, but I don't think the parents did it (although its very Veronica Mars if they did).

(I can gather by the context but what does "dit" mean? Never heard it used before)
