dwarf Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Yeah I don't expect they are doing anything much with the engine, if anything I think they'll just make it run slightly smoother. As for animations... I think they'll be exactly the same.
Nolan Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Yeeeah....me too. The animation is just so terrible in this day and age, and I doubt it'll change (as it's part of the engine) but I really hope it improves.
dwarf Posted May 23, 2010 Posted May 23, 2010 Seeing Fawkes running around like a complete douche is kind of disheartening, but I guess in a way it makes the game feel retro, which I like.
Emasher Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 The main problem with that screenshot is that its a magazine scan. It would probably look much better if it was the original. While I doubt the game is going to look much better, I honestly don't think that matters in a game like Fallout. The artistic direction is still just about as good as it gets in semi-realistic western RPGs. The atmosphere was the best I've seen since Metroid Prime.
Wesley Posted May 24, 2010 Author Posted May 24, 2010 Just looked at the linked pic.....god some of those buildings look worse than Perfect Dark. How do you mean? And what version of Perfect Dark?
dwarf Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 http://uk.ps3.ign.com/ New brief video preview. Looks like it's going to look and play almost exactly the same. Good and bad. The engine really does look like it is struggling.
dwarf Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 (edited) Nobody's talked about this for ages. If you hadn't seen the E3 trailer, then here it is: I'm rating everything about that, including what seems to be the main theme. I am pumped for this. Still weighing up whether or not to make this my first special edition thingamie ever. The cards are drawing me towards it. Watched the trailer from the PS Store which surprisingly made it seem all the more awesome. Wide-screen helps surprisingly. I love old American music. jayseven Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Lovely I'm looking forward to a few sleepless nights with that game! Sidebar; do you think poker chips will be the currency?
dwarf Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Probably. I just can't wait to try out the hardcore mode (which apparently nets you an awesome item at the end) whereby ammo actually has weight, and you'll certainly have to use radiated water to keep your health up. It's just going to be amazing, I know it will. More of something you just enjoy immensely should never be seen in a bad way.
Nolan Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I've already laid my pre-order down on the CE for this. It'll be my second, and Fallout 3 was my first. The set pieces look much grander than Fallout 3.
Emasher Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I still haven't decided on weather I should get the PS3 version or the PC version. On the one hand, the PS3 version obviously isn't going to have mods, on the other hand, my computer can barely run fallout 3, so it might not even be able to run this.
dwarf Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Console games feel better. Designated pad, trophies etc.
Emasher Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 I'm going to guess that the PC version will have achievements, just like Fallout 3 did. As for the controls, I don't really care either way. Fallout 3 works equally well with a controller or with a keyboard and mouse, not to mention you can just set up a controller to work with the PC version. That said, it looks like New Vegas has significantly higher system requirements, so unless I upgrade this year, I'll be buying the PS3 version.
CoolFunkMan Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 This game looks brilliant, can't wait to play it! Although I'm also torn between getting the 360 version or the PC version. Either way, does anyone know of any UK retailer taking pre-orders for the Collector's Edition? I can't find it anywhere... :/

BeerMonkey Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 gunna start new go on fallout3 soon to get ready for this cant wait love fallout3 so much one of my fav games on the 360
CoolFunkMan Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 The Fallout: New Vegas Collector's Edition is now up for pre-order from game. It's £49.99 for the PC version (which I went for) and £69.99 for the 360 and PS3 versions. PC 360 PS3
Sheikah Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 £70...Crazy. Wanted to get it but now I'm not so sure.
Cube Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 With that price tag, I'm now tempted to not bother with the game for a few months and hope that it reaches £30 like the Bioshock 2 special edition.
Nolan Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 That's rather extortionate. PC version goes from 30(reg)-50(CE) but for some reason consoles go 40-70...60 would still be a lot but at least it would follow suit. I half wonder if it's a minor pricing error.
ReZourceman Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Is this a sequel? I thought it was an add on/
LegoMan1031 Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Is this a sequel? I thought it was an add on/ It's not a add on but i dunno if id really call it a sequel either! Just like a new game set in the Fallout universe but set in Vegas with a different main character etc.
Cube Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 Is this a sequel? I thought it was an add on/ I thought the same about Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood until I saw the collectors edition for that.
CoolFunkMan Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Is this a sequel? I thought it was an add on/ I see this of more as a spin-off, like how Vice City and San Andreas were spin-offs to GTA3.
Emasher Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Its about as much a sequel as Zelda games are sequels to the games coming out before them. The Fallout games are all connected in the same universe, but they're not continuations of the last games, they're completely different stories. Usually taking place years apart, or on separate sides of the country (in Fallout 3's case). I don't think its different enough to be considered a spin off though. Story wise its probably going to be just as significant as the other games, and the gameplay is going to be almost identical to Fallout 3's. A spin off would be more something like Fallout Tactics.
