Dan_Dare Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 ...because it deserves a new thread and is interesting. Yowsers.
Dyson Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 As made obvious by the torrent of replies we see here -- Oh, wait.
Ashley Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I haven't seen many bands live but I have listened to them. Live music can be fantastic when there's that little variation to make it worthwhile. Like in the live version of "Inches and Failings" (at the Mayan theatre) the line "love ain't some blood on the reciever" is changed to "love ain't some fucking blood on the reciever". The extra word, along with delivery, really symbolises what can make live music great. Variation and that.
Dyson Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I adore live music; I really do. I just wish it wasn't quite as expensive as it can be. I've seen Bloc Party, Muse, Madness, and Groove Armada live, Muse twice, and each one of those times has blown me away. There's something about it. Also saw (hed)PE live once for lulz. That said; as I constantly mention on the internet, Festivals are the way forward - to an extent. The atmosphere of everyone being there, being free for a few days in a giant field - can't be matched. That said, the quality of sound is worse, but the amount of bands you get to see justifies the high price tag. And really, it's not that high. If you think most of the headliners will charge you £40 for a ticket to one of their normal shows, you're already looking at a saving. Plus you can see bands live that you wouldn't want to pay full ticket price for but merely like one or two of their songs etc. Oh, and discover new music. Can't wait for Reading Fest this year. Gotta get a ticket...
GothicPlague Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I love seeing bands live although I don't do it often due to a lack of funds/friends to go with. The bands I've seen live in order of greatness are: Muse Los Campesinos! Gallows Hadouken! (seen them twice) Enter Shikari My Chemical Romance Story of Absence (shouldn't count cos that was just a mates band) Obviously this doesn't include support acts.
Paj! Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Scheduled to be seeing this year, so far; Bat For Lashes PJ Harvey & John Parrish Antony & The Johnsons 3 people I've been desperate to see for ages. However, I'd ideally want to see PJ doing her own stuff more than her collab stuff...but that'll be good too.
rizz Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Hopefully I will see Taake on Tuesday, as each album they have released has been consistantly awesome.
S.C.G Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 So far I've seen... Sons and Daughters >> The Guillemots KT Tunstall All at Eden, S&D were just a warm up band, nothing amazing, but The Guillemots and KT were pretty damn awesome. Bands I hope to see live... Muse They have played at Eden before and I missed them :/ so with a new album coming up I am hoping they will play there again, they are supposedly touring in October so anyways as soon as they are (hopefully) announced for Eden again, I'm there. ^^

Dyson Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Serj had loads of personality at Reading Fest, and I was right at the front for him too. Shame, though, it was the only really bad time I had at the festival, some prick wouldn't stop hassling me. He thought I had nicked his hat or something.

Platty Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Would take me ages to list all the bands I've seen live. I'm an avid gig goer, go to a gig at least once or twice a month and a couple of festivals a year. I love live music. Favourite band, new band, it doesn't matter I just love seeing a band perform. Best live experiences for me are Bloc Party, The Libertines, Oasis, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire, Tv on the Radio and the Foals. Saw The Cure on thursday night who were amazing by the way.
