Kirkatronics Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Valentines Day - Feb 14th What are you guys planning to do? Im not sure yet, got a while to plan something tho =] Anyone got any good, unusual, ideas for it? EDIT: If i remember correctly, which i usually dont, didnt most people on here revolt this holiday and spend it with their bretheren?
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I shall be working I daresay. But I'll love it for a change.
Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 For me it shall again pass as any other day as a consequence of the lack of girlfriend in my life. *sigh*
nightwolf Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I'm not a fan of VD even in a relationship, I don't see the need to be told when I should show I love somebody, it should be a year round thing. But for those who do celebrate it. I hope they have a nice day! I plan to go to lunch with my two best mates in sheffield and then go to this society chocolate thing in the evening. Fun times ahoy!

What is this 'Chocolate thing' you speak of?
Raining_again Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Urghh!... that is all! Agreed! *high fives* VD is stupid, commercial, and as nightwolf says, you shouldn't need a specific day to show someone you love them!
Jav_NE Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 We're not doing anything this year as we are saving money. But although i agree with the tackiness of the day and its Hallmark beginnings, it isnt all bad. It can help rekindle loved ones after all, and its a nice excuse to do somethig special if nothing else. So yeah, i quite like Valentines Day, but im not doing anything for it this year.
Kirkatronics Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 Stop calling it VD lol. Whys everyone so negative, its a bit of fun really. It may give people extra confidence they may not usually have had. Like asking someone out, or proposing marriage. We're not doing anything this year as we are saving money. Saving money is a big thing now, no one knows whats gonna happen. Some people may also have fond memories on Valentines Day too.
EEVILMURRAY Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Stop calling it VD lol. I know, I couldn't help but crack a smile at nightwolf's words. I'm not a fan of VD even in a relationship
ShadowV7 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Screw Valentines Day. All I need is a chinese.
Kirkatronics Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 I know, I couldn't help but crack a smile at nightwolf's words.Thats what made me laugh XD Screw Valentines Day. All I need is a chinese. Mmm, what do you get? Its always better to share it with someone though, or you get bored too quickly.
Kirkatronics Posted February 7, 2009 Author Posted February 7, 2009 Making fun of me...AGAIN! >_> *huffs* Haha, this a continuing problem night wolf?
Ganepark32 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 lol. Anyways, as for me I'll won't be doing anything. Just another normal day for me. But I do agree, I think the whole Valentine's day thing is just commercialised bullshit. If you're as stupid as they think you are to only tell someone you love them on one day of the year then that, quite frankly, is stupid. If you love someone, you tell them whenever and not confine it to a single day. It's like people who buy roses for people on valentine's day because it's valentines. So! You can buy and give them to the person you love on any other day of the year. I've done it. [/rant]
Pookiablo Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 It's nothing more than a commercial day but it's still nice to do something on it - just a bit of fun really. I dunno what I'll be doing, probably something cheap though, me and the gf are quite poor atm!

I didnt mean people wait untill valentines to do these things, they just give people that little boost in order to do things. I bet theres millions of people who darent share their feelings with someone they like, or propose through fear of of a 'no'.
CoolFunkMan Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Urghh!... that is all! Seconded. This year is my first Valentines Day for 2 years that I've been single, so I plan on doing bugger all (apart from playing F.E.A.R 2 and HotD: Overkill.) I'm not a fan of VD even in a relationship, I don't see the need to be told when I should show I love somebody, it should be a year round thing. But for those who do celebrate it. I hope they have a nice day! Agreed, it's just waaay to comercial imo. Why does anyone need a specific day to tell someone they love them?
jayseven Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 This year, like the last, my mate from brighton is coming up. I've said before - last year we buried a mouse and made chili vodka so we've got no chance of making it more epic this time around. Probably just drinking, maybe head out to see if any of the clubs are offering good times. The choco-fest thing in the evening might be a back-up option. My juggling society has been asked, again, to perform there but, again, nobody seems up for it.

ShadowV7 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Mmm, what do you get? Its always better to share it with someone though, or you get bored too quickly. Chicken Fried Rice/Chicken Curry/Sweet and Sour Chicken Cantonese Style. I never ever get bored of any chinese food, food of gods it is. Plus I don't like sharing food with folk

Dannyboy-the-Dane Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Why does anyone need a specific day to tell someone they love them? Because they're afraid of the answer. As warandchaos already explained, Valentine's Day gives people a psychological boost. In that aspect I think it's great. Plus it's fun to make it cliché by going overboard with chocolate and pink, fluffy hearts. All holidays are over-commercialised nowadays - might as well make the best of it.
