I think that I am not the only one to see the opportunity to expand the Excite franchise.I imagine the next Excite game to actually combine trucks and bikes (Excitetruck+Excitebike) in an arcade racer a la Motorstorm but with more excitement in it!:)

Nice idea! Trucks, Quads and Bikes.

To be honest, I'd be pissed if this was the new direction of the series.

Keep ExciteTruck to trucks. It already draws too many parallels with Motorstorm, and I'd rather keep it unique.

I for one would like Nintendo to make such a direct kick to Sony's nuts.

Like Leonidas said: Give them nothing, and take from them, everything!

If it'll be a new F-Zero, then please let it have the old music. Although what Sega cooked up wasn't so bad, it'd kick ass to have instrumental rock versions of Big Blue or Mute City in the game.

Back in my younger days when money had to be saved for weeks to buy a game (one or 2 a year :heh:) and before the internet broke into everyone's home, i never had the chance to get every SNES or N64 game I would ever have liked.. but I have rectified that in the last couple of years (mainly thanks to ebay: peace: )

The reason I mention that is because F-Zero GX was my first F-Zero game, though I always thought it looked class. I played that game so much and loved every minute (even the frustrations!) ..I never really thought too much about the music.. it seemed OK! But then early last year I picked up F-Zero X, a game I had desired for a long time. the music just blew GX away! I already knew F-Zero had some top tunes as I'd heard some of them before, but the rockin' beats of X really added to the experience and that game is just immense!

I would love an Excite Truck sequel with online, it would be awesome  ..but just thinking about a 30-player online F-Zero has me drooling (I wouldn't even care if it looked like the N64 version.. it would be class!)

I know I'm dreaming.. but yes please :heh:

Surely a sequel to Excitetruck wouldn't be such a secret secret game? Surely it must be F Zero! Surely!!

Personally I would love a sequel to Excite Truck and get someone else to do F Zero!

I really hope Nintendo goes insane for 2009 and releases loads of epic game games and classics! Can you imagine Galaxy 2, EXciteTruck 2, Pikmin 3, Punch Out, 1080, Pilotwings, Kid Icarus and a couple of brand new franchises!!!

^ remove Galaxy 2 and Pilotwings and you've probably got Nintendo's 2009 line up, although the Kid Icarus is still rumor just now (although with how hard it's being pushed I'd be pretty pissed if it turned out to be nothing).

They seem to lack the character of the F-Zero X tracks somehow; which are absolute classics!

Yeh.. as soon as you turned F-Zero X on you were hit with guitar :heh: It was brilliant! I would often let the Press Start screen roll into the demo so I could rev myself up with those rockin musical vibes : peace:

In all seriousness though, I don't want to go too far off topic here, but if it was to be F-Zero then what do we see happening with it? Are we looking at a watered down experience with perhaps Wii Wheel support? Perhaps maybe you want to use the analogue stick with a bit of waggle to attack? Whatever the case, it has to be FAST! ..and I'm sure we've talked about this before somewhere, but absolutely NO WEAPONS! The same goes for Excite Truck 2 by the way :heh:

Yeah, NO WEAPONS!

Analogue stick to drive and wii-mote waggle to spin attack, flick left/right to side slam could work. But I can't help feel that with a game that demands SO MUCH precision in your driving and the smallest adjustments left and right that you would need two hands on the controller?!

It can't get watered down speed/level design wise though.

30 player races, are they possible, I dunno what with the speed and level design. Might have to be say 8 humans and the rest AI and with a drop in scenery.

30 player F-Zero X style death races could be good though as that was on a simple oval track.

Lol, the Red Canyon tune was used in some of the story mode chapters.

Personally I'd like motion control steering, but why not do both like Mario Kart?

And if they really stylise the graphics, cell shaded cartoony (not wind waker, more prince of persia) then I think they can handle 30 player online races :P

If it's an ExciteTruck 2 then I'd definitely re-buy a Wii.

I just hope that it (if it is an ET2) has:

- More levels & level variety

- You Vs The Computer. Keep it mainly towards stunts, but have it so you have to beat the AI (or other players)'s scores rather than just a set limit. Perhaps in a MK-like tournament.

- A few extra modes. Simple races and a free-roaming stunt mode would be fantastic.

- 4-player split screen (for Race, Stunt-Race, Stunt and Smash modes) with 6 (or 8) player online

- Have the weather impact the game more. It looked nice, but it didn't seem to do much. The terrain altering worked wonders, though.

- Perhaps a few more stunt types.

I think you are getting too hyped for this.

I would laugh so much if it was actually a Mini-Game fest, everyone here would commit Hara-Kiri
