Team Fortress 2

I'd say it's the pinnacle so far. It's simply stunning, the textures and character models are flaw-less and the animations are so full of life. They need to make more games that look like this because you can't pick holes in it like you can with "realistic" looking games.

Since this thread has gone down the 'best art-design' route instead of best graphics I'll post these few: (people have already mentioned some of my other favourites)

I have a newfound respect for you McMad ^^ Good choices.

It's not just art design, it's game that look good. They don't need to be next gen to look good. For example.

Majora's Mask. One of the best in game locations I've seen, still looks fantastic. Admitedly this one is more because of the feelings they evoke, but that's what graphics are for.

Got to agree with these. Whilst games like Gears of War look gorgeous at the time, the fact that they're aiming for realism on the current generation of consoles means they'll end up bettered eventually (and it's beginning to happen already).

Cel-shaded titles, especially Wind Waker, maintain their beautiful visual style and still manage to look amazing even today.

No. Just No.

I get what he's coming at, but GOW has it's own distinct, moody, atrisitic visual style as well. You don't need lots of colour to make visuals atristic...

I think I would have like the graphics a lot more if they had just made the blood brighter.

I know I've already posted it but I can't get enough of Eternal Sonata.

Seconded! It looks brilliant. The characters, level design and overall style = AWESOME!
