Pit-Jr Posted November 15, 2005 Posted November 15, 2005 IRON MAIDEN ARE THE ROX. Its a shame that Sharon Osbourne kicked them off the Ozzfest tour for bitching about equipment
somme Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 To be honest I don't like any bands that have come out in the last few years, they're all a bit pants. My faves are: Placebo PJ Harvey Sonic Youth Flaming Lips Idlewild Goldfrapp Radiohead
RoadKill Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Excellent choices in there Dieter. my artists/bands...well okay mostly artists would be: -Blank & Jones -Ichiko Furukawa, Makoto Tonosu, Motoi Sakuraba, Shinji Tamura (they made the Tales of.. and Baten Kaitos soundtracks...and final fantasy too i think.) -Talla 2xlc -Nu Nrg -Conjure one -daft punk -K system -Ayumi -ATB -A-ha -Kosmonova -Oceanlab -Just about anyone from http://www.ocremix.org mostly trance, videogame/remix, i enjoy a good classical sound too or rock or whatever really...it just has to grab me... You're pretty much the most unique music listener who's listed in this thread. Everyone else has a lot of their bands shared with other people. I've been listening to mostly ambient psy trance for days and days non-stop.
ShavenWolf Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 I'd say 'Takk...' is their most easily appreciated album, although personally I think 'Von' is great in an eclectic/perverse kind of way. Do you not have Agætis Byrjun? It's just that I'd say that it's their most easily appreciated album. That album's got to be in my top 10 somewhere. Speaking of Sigur Ros, I saw them live on Sunday night at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. Amazing. I was completely blown away. Anyway, back to metal chat and weirdly-named genres....
Aimless Posted November 16, 2005 Posted November 16, 2005 Do you not have Agætis Byrjun? It's just that I'd say that it's their most easily appreciated album. I only picked 'Takk...' as it's the tiniest bit more conventional. 'Ãgætis Byrjun' is more... operatic, making use of a lot of extended string sections and ambience, whereas their newest album is more melodious. Marginally. It's a very close call, and I can't say I particularly prefer one over the other.

Ramar Posted November 18, 2005 Posted November 18, 2005 IRON MAIDEN ARE THE ROX. im listenin to their song as im typing this, its called run to the hills and its brilliant. retro lover is a ledgend because he likes em too white man came, across the sea, he brought us pain and misery Run to the Hills is slightly boring now. But its a good song to listen to when you first get into Maiden. Maiden songs I'm liking at the moment are Fear of the Dark and The Wicker Man. Fantastic songs, my favourite Maiden song would be The Trooper, nothing is better than the guitars in that song.

You might wanna give the Nip/Tuck soundtrack a listen through, its got a nice spanishy vibe to it in places (with the show being set in Miami and all). Songs in particular: Lonely - Bebel Gilberto Elvis - Alpha Following - Chungking Pride - Syntax I think, havnt listened to it for a while and the songs kinda blend. Its not full out foreign, but as I said, has a spanish vibe.
