Twozzok Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 This reminds me, January exam results out on thursday !_! Well, for GCSE I got 4 A's, 3 B's, 2 C's, 2 D's and an F. Not too bad for a slacker such as me.
Supergrunch Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Yes, but as we all know, you have superhuman intelligence. Not so much, more just an ability to learn and parrot large amounts of information if required to do so. Yeah, I actually look forward to Further Maths nowadays. Stats 2 is unprecedentedly fun (especially after Stats 1 where I had the worst teacher ever for it). I love the normal distribution; actually a pleasure to do questions on it. Ask a teacher to prove the central limit theorem for you, if any know how to. I saw the proof and it was amazing, though I got a bit lost in the middle.

McMad Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Damn you smart people... If coursework is anything to go by I should do well. Although if the mocks are anything to go by then they'll be a bit poo. I did a short-course RE GCSE early last year. I got a B in the mock which I barely revised for so I decided that I'd hit the books for the real thing and get an A/A*. I went to revision sessions after school, I bought the revision guide and I did a few practice questions in order to sharpen my technique. Imagine my fucking annoyance after all that I still got a B (78/100 - 80 was the A barrier). I guess I'm just not that intelligent. EDIT: It's around nine weeks now till the real thing I think. Fuck.
Ginger_Chris Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Maths: A* Stats: A* Physics: A* Chemistry: A* Biology: A Geography: A* Business studies: A* Electronics: A* English Lit: A English Lang: B French: B (predicted D/E :P) A levels aren't that much harder, you just get to do more interesting stuff. Chemistry AS was pretty nasty though, I gave up after it to do something that didn't require stupid amounts of random fact learning. Futher Maths was the greatest subject ever.

Fuck. 35 school days. Also, 80 is a really steep A barrier...
Gizmo Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Doing my Standard Grades this year. In the November prelims I got 8 1's, which I think is equivalent to 8 A*s. SG's are piss easy though, they are gradually getting rid of them and changing it to Intermediates that better prepare for highers.
McMad Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 35 school days. Also, 80 is a really steep A barrier... Yeah I think it was high because of the fact that it was the short course (no coursework, less topics), 90 was the A* barrier.
Guest Stefkov Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 This reminds me, January exam results out on thursday !_! Aye. Resat a Computing paper so hopefully I can move up to a B in that. If I got below a C I will break down and cry. GCSE's I got As in English, Bs in Spanish, Electronics, Art, IT, Maths!!!, Science, and something else maybe and then a C in Art. If I got an A in science I would have probably gone on and done it in college. God knows why I chose maths...I was terrible at it.
Mr-Paul Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 My grades: English Language: A English Lit: A Maths: A Physics: A* Biology: A* Chemistry: A* French : A* Russian : A PE: A RE : A* Food Tech: A ICT: AA Think that was it. Did so much better than I ever expected. I was expecting Bs in like everything. Did hardly any revision, and came out with As!

Twozzok Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Aye.Resat a Computing paper so hopefully I can move up to a B in that. If I got below a C I will break down and cry. I resat both computing papers, I'm hoping to bring my grade up to the B I deserve
Slaggis Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Lasy year I got: ICT - Double A* English - B/No idea as of yet Science - C Engineering - B Geography - A R.E - C Maths - B (I was expected an E, the teacher was shocked to say the least lol) For As levels I'm currently taking Geography (results on friday!) Guest Stefkov Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I resat both computing papers, I'm hoping to bring my grade up to the B I deserve What did you get in them? You're on a different board aren't you? I'm with the Welsh board. No idea if it's any different. Got a b in the first paper then an e in the second. Coursework got an a so it pulled me to a c. I was annoyed with the e. Really annoyed.
Twozzok Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Yeah with OCR :p I think I got C's in both papers, and just pulled a B in the coursework, but still an overall C ¬_¬
Ashley Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Why are GCSE results out now, I thought they were summer?
ipaul Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Think we are just listing them anyway. Well here's mine. English - A English Literature - A Media - B Biology -B Geography - A Physics - A Maths - A German - C Chemistry C <<< worst teacher ever Business Studies - A* Business Communications - B Would have liked maybe one or two more A stars, also was a bit annoyed at my sciences as I got As in my mocks =/. Still was very pleased with them though I'm now doing the International Baccalaureate (wiki it) and the jump is huuuge o_O. Well at least for Biology. God I hate it, but I couldn't do Physics =(. Maths is about as easy as GCSE was because I do standard level. Italian isn't really difficult but I kinda struggle with languages. Art is....arty =P Kind of difficult because I can't draw and the teacher isn't great but as long as I pass I shall be happy. English and Geography are great though, decent teachers, interesting lessons and I am good at them I think the biggest jump in difficulty is definately in Maths or Science.
Zell Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 I wish I was doing GCSEs again, great times... Maths A* Stats A* Physics A* Chemistry A* History A* German A* RS A* English A English Lit A Biology A Business Studies A ICT A Music A Our school made us do quite a lot, because it's a Grammar School. Now I'm doing Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Physics at A2. Couldn't have chosen better subjects! I'm doing Cosmology in Physics at the moment and it's incredibley interesting, and Further Maths is just awesome. Going to Warwick tomorrow (applying for Maths), hopefully I'll decide fairly soon whether I want to go there or UCL.
Dyson Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 Keep in mind I had to do 2 years worth of work in 1 year (No Year 10) English Lit - C English Lang - C Maths - C Science - C C Catering - C ICT - C Music - C Drama - D Aaaaaand for my AS: And it's not on there but: BTEC IT - Pass (>_<) These are my A2 predictions, as in, what I think I will achieve: Philosophy A2 - C Music Tech - C (gonna resit my E paper from last year) BTEC IT - Merit (Absolutely must achieve this.) Electronics - D/E
Intensity Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I didn't get any A's either. Once College told me I needed 5 C's to get in I pretty much stoped caring about GCSE's and got stoned and played Goldeneye every day. you sir have made my signature
Aimless Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I'm starting to worry I didn't even get one A and all I see from you lot is AAAAAAAA I got Cs across the board for my GCSEs, if that allays your fears any; I've never been much of an academic.
Dyson Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 How come? (sorry for being nosey) Remind me to explain tomorrow, lol
