Gizmo Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 2 weeks huh? I was just thinking last night that it must be soon. Can't wait, it should be awesome. Ferrarri will be strong as ever, McLaren with two relatively inexperienced drivers and the repercussions from Spy gate. Renault with Alonso back, could they be the third force again? Should be a good year.
gaggle64 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 Oh, man it's been a long wait for the season start. If it's even half as amazing as last year this will be brilliant.
MadDog Posted March 2, 2008 Author Posted March 2, 2008 I dont think Renault will make such an impact this year. Alonso will surely score points but i dont think he will have a good enough car to compete with Raikkonen, Massa or Hamilton
gaggle64 Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 I reckon Williams stand a good chance of scoring some big points this year, and hopefully Honda can get back on track. It's surely got to be Hamilton and Raikonnen again though. Very much looking forward to the new Singapore circuit also.
Retro_Link Posted March 2, 2008 Posted March 2, 2008 '08 Predictions: - Raikkonen will be the guy to beat. - Lewis will be his main threat, with Massa and Kovalainen scrapping it out. - As a guy who on many occasion out performed Hamilton in GP2, it will be interesting to see if Piquet Jr can also give Alonso a run for his money! - Massively close fight in the mid-field this season between BMW, Williams, Renault and Red Bull. Think BMW then Williams will start out strongest, with Renault perhaps fighting back at them mid season. - Not really sure how and where STR and Toyato will feature this season. - Honda [even with Ross Brawn] will once again be nowhere this year. Oh and IMO they've achieved the near impossible of actually making their car look worse this year! At least it stood out before, now it's just boring! My support as ever is with Kimi, and long may the Ice Age continue!
MadDog Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 Just a week now till the first race I cant wait Who do you think will win the first race? I think it will be: 1st- Hamilton 2nd-Raikkonen 3rd-Massa or Kovalinen(spelt wrong)
BeerMonkey Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 surprised at the instant write off of kovalinian. He is a very good driver and now hes in a car that can win titles he could very well be up there with raik and hamilton. Renult were not as fast as previous years last season if they sort that out then alonso can be up there as well so will be interesting first few races
gaggle64 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I'd really love to see Kovi up there, but it's not too hard to spot champions even in lesser cars (tenner says Kubica will be a contender inside three years) and I'm not convinced Kovi is playing on quite the same level as Hamilton and Raikkonen.
tomma1000 Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 just a heads up that if you go to itv.co.uk/f1 there is a fanatasy league for F1 which looks quite interestin and fun
MadDog Posted March 8, 2008 Author Posted March 8, 2008 Ive created a mates league on that F1 fantasy league. The league name - F1 LEAGUE Pin - 8000729
DCK Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Oh yeah! I can't wait for this season to begin. I really hope Alonso will be competitive this year, he's one of the few in the field left with a real character
gaggle64 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Oh yeah! I can't wait for this season to begin. I really hope Alonso will be competitive this year, he's one of the few in the field left with a real character I certainly won't dispute that.
Iun Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 "Character" is the word alright. Still, I am hoping that Raikonnen and Hamilton take it to the wall this year, that would be great.
kyletherobot Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Last season really reignited my love for F1 as I'm sure it did many people. Obviously, McLaren and Ferrari are going to be completely dominant again. I'll be backing Hamilton but I'd be surprised if Raikkonen doesn't win the championship again. Massa could be closer to the title this season if he manages to iron out those mistakes and increase his occasional flashes of brilliance. It promises to be another exciting season though.
gaggle64 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 If you ask me, all we needed to spice F1 up again was for Schumacher to retire!
BeerMonkey Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 If you ask me, all we needed to spice F1 up again was for Schumacher to retire! couldnt have said it better myself it has got ALOT better since micheal has retired
Will Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 Has it actually got any better since Schumacher retired though? As far as I can tell last year it was interesting to watch the leaderboard at the end of each race but the actual races were utterly boring. I still don't get why people rave about it so much, off track stuff was good, but the actual sport, the racing (if you can call it that) was shit. I really hope the technological steps backwards will shake things up a bit this year, its long overdue that the sport took place on the track rather than the pitlane/newspapers.
gaggle64 Posted March 13, 2008 Posted March 13, 2008 There were a couple of uneventful races last year, but overall I thought the track action was good stuff. I was chewing my own face off watching Hamilton make his comeback bid in Brazil.
