Goafer Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) Supernatural Season 4 Finale I hate cliffhangers. Now I have to wait for season 5 to come out on DVD as I refuse to wait whole weeks between episodes. Edited December 27, 2009 by Goafer
Ashley Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I completely don't understand the love of Doctor Who. Is it that the people that watch and like it aren't aware that there are good TV shows these days? I'm aware its rubbish, campy and over the top but that's fine. I'm never disappointed by it because I never expect much. Its just David Tennant running around for an hour pulling faces and grabbing hands. Although I've not watched the xmas one yet. On Christmas Eve I went on a Christmas-themed episode watching spree. Arrested Development - In God We Trust "THERE IS NO GOD!" Brilliant Scrubs - My Best Moment Rather sweet really. The Simpson - Marge Not Be Proud I love when they explore Bart and Marge's relationship. She believes in him so much and knows he's a good buy ultimately and he occasionally feels guilty about this. And now Christmas is over.
Molly Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) Christmas TV 2009 Give me an Only Fools Christmas special any day of the week over what's been on. Shit/10 Edited December 27, 2009 by Molly Just wanted to add a bit.
Paj! Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I watched no "Xmas TV" except the RSC Hamlet last night. It was a really good production actually. David Tennant is one of those people I have no problem with, but can't stand to watch. It's his skeletal face and the faces he pulls. But of course that worked great for the role of Hamlet. A lavish production visually, with stunning imagery and symbolism, mirrors, cameras, and his "muscle" t-shirt. Gertrude and Claudius were both standouts, but Patrick Stewart always impresses. Ophelia was ugly until she went mad and then showed us all how to be great. Some bits were done really well, just lovely little bits of staging that gave me an new appreciation for the actual text. The "Moustrap" scene, where Hamlet makes lewd remarks whilst sitting beside/with Ophelia makes more sense in this production than how I imagined, for example. Yes. /10

Yes. /10 Not to boast but... saw that live in London *smug* We got the shittest seats in the theater because I went with my school and they gave us the ones at the back but still.. I usually dislike Tennant's acting (though think he's a great guy) but thought he did a pretty good job. The mirrored floor made the whole thing look amazing, particularly the first scene, and the part where (omg spoilers) Hamlet shoots Polonius behind the arras looked similarly great, a flash and then somehow the glass was shattered.
ReZourceman Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 Christmas TV 2009 Give me an Only Fools Christmas special any day of the week over what's been on. Shit/10 Fucking amen. Where were all the blockbuster movies? (Pirates of the Carribean doesn't count because A) Its fucking shit, and B) the third was even shittier than the other two, and they were shit, so its super-shitTM) How in the HELL do ITV1 have so fucking little on, that they have to repeat shows in prime time...that they showed prime time the day before. GENUINELY the worst Christmas TV ever.
Ashley Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) I was going to post this in the BSG thread but that's been dead for 8 months and this isn't really worthy of resurrection, but funsies: Spoilers for all of BSG Edited December 27, 2009 by Ashley
Paj! Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 That. Was amazing. *collapses* I love WTF FTL! And the bit "Marilyn Monrobot!" And the bit detailing Athena-Hera-Honeyhaired Six in the hallway. "ATHENA!" Also full of spoilers if you've nto seen BSG.
SPAMBOT4000 Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 How in the HELL do ITV1 have so fucking little on, that they have to repeat shows in prime time... To be honest I don't think ITV1 has had anything decent on for about the last 5 years. But yeah, Christmas TV was shit. Aside from the Royle Family Christmas special. That was way funnier than I was expecting.

GENUINELY the worst Christmas TV ever. People laughed when I bought the Home Alone box set (only the first two, the rest are turds) and Hook on DVD. Now who's laughing eh? EH?! *slightly worrying cackle* Now if only I could get rid of Reverberantiono, my imaginary seahorse friend...
Paj! Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Buffy Season Two "Hallowe'en" Going through series 2 for the first time now, enjoyed this one lots! I love Cordelia the most. How she's such an obvious part of the team, literally involved in EVERY battle/event the gang encounter, and yetis really rude to them all at school, and she claims to hate them. Some of the dialogue is pitch-perfect in this show too. I hope the end of the episode means Willow will stop dressing like a mongo. I love Spike and Drusilla way more than all the shit "mainies" from season 1 like Darla.
Daft Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 (edited) The Day of the Triffids Impressive stuff from the BBC. Not perfect but definitely enjoyable, especially considering how long it is. I look forward to the second half tomorrow night. Love Eddie Izzard. I'm a fan of Joely Richardson after Nip/Tuck. Jason Priestley as Coker? Excellent. Edited December 28, 2009 by Daft

I thought the acting felt a bit wooden at times but apart from that I enjoyed it. I actually thought the story was interesting enough without the Triffids, just seeing what was happening with everyone after the mass blindness.
Molly Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 Ooop I forgot that was on tonight. Praise be to Sky+ :p
Daft Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I thought the acting felt a bit wooden at times but apart from that I enjoyed it. I actually thought the story was interesting enough without the Triffids, just seeing what was happening with everyone after the mass blindness. I thought apart from the main guy (Bill? Ben?) the acting was generally pretty good. The main dude was crap. Seriously, he was out-acted by the background. I think the fact the Triffids didn't feature that much is what happens when writers try and make things 'character driven'. It mostly works tbf.
Happenstance Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I think I spent most of the time watching it thinking "Joely Richardson's still got it"
Cube Posted December 28, 2009 Posted December 28, 2009 I wasn't expecting much from Day of the Triffids, so I was quite impressed by it. It was interesting (the triffids were actually the least interesting part of it, oddly) and the effects seemed extremely good for a TV Film.
gmac Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I thought it was pretty good as well, quality cast (plus we've still got Brian Cox to turn up, although it will be weird hearing him use his normal accent for once ). what's the point in a cliffhanger if you're going to spoil it with the trailer for part 2
Daft Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Star Trek TNG post. Riker is SO fat. Did no one point this out to him?
Coolness Bears Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 It's Always Sunny In Phildelphia Seasons 1 and 2 Brilliant. not quite up there with Curb and Arrested Development for me yet. Is on the same level as 30 Rock for me.

Daft Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 I realised after I posted that that the widescreen didn't help.
flameboy Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Ok so my mate lent me Tru Blood a while back but just not had time to watch it...started it today watched the first 2 episodes I'd give them a soild 8/10, its certainly given me enough intrigue to invest some more time in it and this is from someone who isn't into this whole vampire thing.. One thing though way too much sex in it so far will make watching it in the evening difficult for fear family think i'm watching porn!
Coolness Bears Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 EMBRACE THE NUDITY. It isn't going to stop.
