Ryan Reynolds Lands Green Lantern

Warner Bros. Pictures has hired X-Men Origins: Wolverine and The Proposal star Ryan Reynolds to play the title role in the anticipated Green Lantern, scheduled for a June 17, 2011 release.

Based on the DC Comics hero, the action-adventure will be directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale, GoldenEye) and produced by Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti. Berlanti wrote the script with Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green.

The Hollywood trades say that Reynolds and his camp entered negotiations for the part Friday, after the studio held two rounds of screen tests, along with actors Bradley Cooper and Jared Leto. Justin Timberlake also did a screen test. The studio had holding options on the actors, but, except for Reynolds, those expired Monday. Reynolds' option would have expired end of day Friday.

Production is expected to begin in January.

The "Green Lantern" was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Introduced in 1959, Hal Jordan is a second-generation test pilot, an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur's spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was "utterly honest and born without fear."

Reynolds recently starred in Fox's "Wolverine," in which he played Wade Wilson/Deadpool. The character is now being developed for a spin-off to which Reynolds is attached. He also played Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity.

The actor will next star in Buried, a dark indie drama that will begin filming shortly in Barcelona with Spanish director Rodrigo Cortes. Reynolds will play a civilian contractor who is kidnapped in Iraq and awakes in a coffin, struggling against time to coordinate a rescue even though he doesn't know where he's buried in the desert.

Id rather actors didnt start playing multiple comicbook heroes but as long as hes beaten Timberlake to the punch then I cant really complain.

Yeah, I LOVE the guy but I was routing for Bradley Cooper. Still he's great, and he can pull off cocky guy well so it should be good. Rather he was Rayner actually, but meh. I absolutely cannot wait for this film.

As long as Sinestro starts off as a GL and becomes the bad guy and gets a yellow costume (technically not comic accurate, but its better and the route First Flight is taking)

I agree with Happenstance, I don't like to see Actors playing multiple characters, not like there's not enough of them going about to get one each. Alas, I much happier than its him and not that singing twat. I'd have preferred Bradley Cooper, I've always liked him since he was in Alias.

Bit late on this one, but I just watched Mad Max 2 and 3 and was looking on IMDB.

Hey folks, Harry here... While my internet was down, I was contacted from Down Under by a reliable informant who confirms that MAD MAX 4 is a go. Apparently - George Miller has already had the various vehicles built for years now - as they were built for the doomed FURY ROAD shoot - which was shelved while George explored JUSTICE LEAGUE possibilities. That said, the cars are out of mothballs and being prepped and tuned for the upcoming shoot. There will be a new MAX as this isn't an Ethan Embry story. There's also word on a MAD MAX Playstation 3 game that we'll be getting prior to the movie. This is all thanks to my source, whom I'll call the 6-fingered Bitch! Hopefully we'll hear more from the 6-fingered Bitch!

A new Max? Balls to that.

Why change the name?

Is "Let the right one in" too confusing of a name to use?

Also not sure if I like the director either, was not a big fan of Cloverfield...

But the director commented that he want´s to stay true to the source material and not try to appease the Twilight fanbase which is good in my opinion

I´m going to try and not put my hopes up because I really like this film and would not want it tarnished.

It will lose what makes it amazing. What an awesome foreign film. Down with the remake!

Quick! Use your Vine Whip!

Goaferboy: Mad Max 4? I'm not sure if I like the sound of this.

In the 21st Century, no franchise is sacred. No series will be left unturned. There is no escape.
