Retro_Link Posted April 29, 2009 Author Posted April 29, 2009 Bale talks Batman 3... http://uk.movies.ign.com/articles/977/977647p1.html UK, April 29, 2009 - Christian Bale has been talking to Total Film about Batman 3, and it seems the project is no nearer to actually being in development. He said: "Will we do a third movie? It's got to be the right story. You can't make something like The Dark Knight and then come out with something disappointing. He said the challenge of making a good threequel is driving him on: "I would like it if people say, 'You'll never make a good third movie.' I say, 'OK, let's make a third movie in that case, let's prove them wrong. But that's just me. It also sounds as though Bale would be reluctant to star in a third Batman if director Christopher Nolan wasn't involved: "The fact is, I have to [appear in the film]! I've signed up! Chris [Nolan] doesn't. So I'm in a bit of a fix if he says he doesn't want to!"
Solo Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Ridley Scott Toying With Alien Prequel Ideas After the way things turned out with the Alien vs Predator franchise, it’s hard to be enthusiastic about anyone doing more with either iconic monster. But Robert Rodriguez has been given free reign to remake Predator, and with him in charge maybe that might be horrible. There’s also talk of an Alien prequel, but don’t worry: it sounds like they’ll only do it if it’s directed by original Alien director Ridley Scott. IESB talked to Fox head honcho Tom Rothman who confirmed that there has been some discussion of doing an Alien prequel, and what’s more Ridley has an idea he’s toying with for it. He’s busy with Robin Hood right now, but afterward? It sound like the door is open. Says Rothman, “I mean, it's always been a matter of, really, if you can get the originator to do it that would be the greatest thing, so I've got my fingers crossed, all of them.” "What we're interested in is taking the character of Ripley and seeing what other science fiction story we can tell about someone who has lived several lives."
Paj! Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Ridley Scott Toying With Alien Prequel Ideas Interesting... Love the Alien series (not AVP, which are technically prequels, since we're on the subject), but not too keen on the idea of a prequel to the first film. I mean, the mystery fo the Space Jockey and what happened to it/how long ago is brilliant, and imo best left alone. I read a bit of the comic series from years ago that explained it a bt, and it's just not very good. Maybe Scott will prove me wrong.
Dan_Dare Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 Yeah with you on that one. The whole reason the Xenomorph is a good creation it's it's singular purpose and lack of context or origin. It exists. That's it.
Fierce_LiNk Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 That last paragraph seems to suggest that it's a prequel to the film "Alien" but maybe won't actually be containing the aliens that we know. They're exploring the character of Ripley, not the xenomorphs. So, it's more like what Chronicles of Riddick is to Pitch Black than anything. Keeping that central character, but a different story and focus.
Oxigen_Waste Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I'd be happy. But this is Riddley Scott. He's settled for good in the last 27 years of his career, and I don't predict great will ever be making a return. Still, good is way better than AVP or Alien 3 and 4. I mean, sure... Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, etc aren't the cream of the crop, but I'd rather have them over mediocrity any day. I'm just not expecting him to ever return to the glorious days of Alien and Blade Runner.
Goafer Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I mean, sure... Gladiator, Black Hawk Down, American Gangster, etc aren't the cream of the crop, I loved Black Hawk Down. I'm not entirely sure why, after all it was just another war movie, but it had something about it. One of my favourite war movies, definately my favourite modernish one.

It's a matter of opinion really, because I think Gladiator is a great film, and I'd probably put Black Hawk Down in my top 10 films. So for me if this new film can reach those great standards, then I'd be happy.

Keeping that central character, but a different story and focus. No fucking way. First of all, it won't be Sigourney Weaver (reason to NOT make a Ripley life story no.1), second, half the excellence of Alien comes from the fact that Ripley isn't the obvious protagonist. She's just a normal woman, actually a bit of a bitch in some people's eyes, doing her job. She's focused on less than any of the other character until about half way through. She shouldn't have prior adventures to Alien, she's just the warant officer doing her job as per usual. Agh. The idea of a prequel like that offends me.
Paj! Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 I'd prefer another Alien Vs Predator to Alien: Ripley, to be honest. And that's saying something.
LegoMan1031 Posted April 30, 2009 Posted April 30, 2009 (edited) actualy bond did fall in love in the whole bond mythology. he marries in on film, the spy who loved me, and is distraught at his wifes death by assassins. also, i belive in the casino royal novle he falls in love, and the loss is what makes him a womaniser, and alcoholic. hes more like his old self in quantum of solice, but without the uber cheese. I think the whole idea of Bond getting married in the Spy Who Loved Me was to show that can't ever have that life-style of a wife, kids and settling down, not with his job. So, Casino Royale just felt like it was treading old ground, in my mind anyway. erm... sorry to sound like a bond geek but he actually got married in On Her Majestys Secret Service... and then she was assasinated by Blofeld in a car driving past. That's just what I picked up from that last paragraph, so I'm not fully certain that this is definitely what they're doing. But, that's what it seemed like to me when I read it. erm... sorry to sound like a bond geek but he actually got married in On Her Majestys Secret Service... and then she was assasinated by Blofeld in a car driving past. Ahh, you're right. I dunno how I got that one wrong. o_O Bluddy George Lazenby.
Happenstance Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 RIP Dom DeLuise Dom DeLuise, the comedian who became a household name in the '70s and '80s for his small but memorable roles in Blazing Saddles, Cannonball Run and Spaceballs, died late Monday night in a Los Angeles hospital. He was 75. DeLuise got his big break in 1964 as a as a regular performer on TV's The Entertainers. He soon became a regular guest star on The Dean Martin Summer Show. The exposure led to Deluise's landing his own eponymous comedy program on CBS that lasted for a season. In the '70s, DeLuise moved to the big screen, becoming a regular fixture in various Mel Brooks films. After meeting Burt Reynolds on the set of Brooks's Silent Movie, the two actors became friends and worked together in several films, including two Cannonball Run movies, Smokey and the Bandit II and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. DeLuise, who often made jokes about his rotund figure, was an avid chef who wrote four cookbooks. He also wrote seven children's books. He married actress Carol Arthur in 1965. His three sons - Peter, Michael and David - are all actors. DeLuise's death was first reported by TMZ.com. Taken From IMDB
Nintendohnut Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Looks like Deadpool will be getting his own film... Mutants seem to be unstoppable with the news from earlier today that there would be a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine - which is now joined by the news that there will in fact be a solo film for Ryan Reynolds in the role of Wade Wilson/Deadpool. The news came from a source in Fox studios to MTV, and confirms that Deadpool will get a solo film, also produced by Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel. The Deadpool movie will be an exploration of the character's background, and how he goes from being a part of the Weapon X project seen in Wolverine to becoming the mask-wearing Merc with the Mouth known to be a fan-favorite with readers of the X-Men comics. Fox is reportedly looking for a writer and director for the film at the present, but Reynolds is expected to return to the role. This should come as no surprise to fans who had been clamoring to see Reynolds play the character for years, nor should it come as surprise to the long list of influential people who have spoken in favor of Reynolds for the role, including Reynolds himself, Deadpool co-creator Rob Liefeld and Fox Chairman Tom Rothman. Deadpool is known as "the merc with a mouth," a character that under Reynolds lived up to his billing in Wolverine until the end, when the movie deviated from the comic book persona, imbuing him with several superpowers and sewing his mouth shut. It is understood that Reynolds would regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. The character also was disfigured in Wolverine though it's unclear at this time how much the studio would want to mess with Reynolds' handsome mug. Whether the Deadpool film will follow in the footsteps of the hidden ending for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, or if it will go off in a different direction, it is currently too early to say. But you can expect SuperheroFlix and MovieWeb to keep our ears to the ground to bring you the latest news about Deadpool as it becomes available. source: http://www.movieweb.com Let's hope they don't fuck him up like they did in Wolverine...
Dan_Dare Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 excellent stuff. I've been reading the latest Deadpool series this week and it's excellent stuff. If they can capture the insane pace and silliness of that, they're on to a winner
Mundi Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I also hope they capture just how fucking sick he can be. Like locking people inside the "box" in his house and just forgetting them there.
Dan_Dare Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 hahaaha quality line in the new series "Well, I guess I'll be going now...oh, wait. Almost forgot to beat you to death!"
Paj! Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I'd prefer X-men Origins: Magneto. I can just see Deadpool more likely turning out awful. Not saying it will, but i'm anxious.
Nintendohnut Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Also a friend of mine said the other day that there won't be a third Batman film at all. I said that this was untrue because Bale's signed up for three and it's only Chris Nolan that isn't obligated to do any more, but he said 'they just announced it today that they won't be making a third.' He is well known for bullshit, however I was wondering whether this was actually true? Can't find anything about it online, was he just lying? Thanks!

You're seriously expecting to believe a movie studio is not going to make a follow-up to one of the highest grossing movies ever? No way in hell that's true.
Paj! Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Well...I'd tend to think he was lying because he's a known liar and the fact that you couldn't find anything about it, more than just cause TDK was huge.
Happenstance Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Last thing I heard about it was Bale saying he wouldnt do a third unless Nolan came back
Paj! Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Nah he said he was "stuck" because he HAD to come back, and Nolan didn't.
